All throughout high school, I wanted to make it a point to find a community within my
school and to be an active student whether it came to sports, extracurricular activities,
volunteering, taking on leadership roles, or joining programs. I have been the Vice President for
my school’s student council for 3 years, which has allowed me to share my ideas and to take on
the responsibilities of planning new events and helping with fundraising. One of the many events
I have helped to plan is Night of Nations, where every club at our school gets to represent a
country by sharing foods, music, artwork, and other cultural aspects. This event helped to
educate other students on different cultures and allowed our school to create a more inclusive
environment. I have helped to fundraise for class events such as prom and formal by holding
bake sales, creating merchandise, and reaching out to local businesses for help. Having this
amount of responsibility has taught me how to become a better leader and time management
skills. After I realized how much I enjoyed having a leadership role, I decided to take on more
such as being the treasurer of Key Club, Vice President for community service for National
Spanish Honors Society, chapter officer for DECA, captain of my track and tennis team, and a
CORE ambassador for my school. Each of these clubs and activities has allowed me to use my
voice to make the changes I wanted to see in my school. I have also joined other clubs such as
my school’s diversity council, the Teen Advisory Board at my local library, my school’s literary
magazine club, STEM club, National Honors Society, and more, to explore my other interests.
Outside of these clubs, I do a lot of volunteering work within my community. One of the
community service activities I have participated in is “Giving Garden”, where I would go every
week to my local church’s garden and would look after it by watering the plants, planting more
seeds, cleaning up the weeds, and more. When all the vegetables were fully grown, we would
donate them to the local family service bureau where they would be then distributed to the less
fortunate. I loved being a part of “Giving Garden” because by simply helping out at the garden, it
gave people who may not be able to afford these foods, an opportunity to have access to
healthier foods. I noticed that there were more opportunities to help out at my local family
service bureau, so I signed up to help in the food pantry where we helped to organize food by
categories and to check for expiration dates. I have completed over 100 volunteering hours and
these are just a few examples of how I have helped my community. My love for volunteering
inspired me to become the Vice President of Community Service for the National Spanish
Honors Society. I have helped to organize events like raking leaves for the elderly and food and
clothing drives at our school so that students have an opportunity to donate.
Going to college is very expensive and is going to be a financial struggle for my parents,
which is why I got a job outside of school. I work at this party venue called Fiesta for about 2
years as a waitress. I am saving all the money I have made for college to help my parents pay
for my college tuition and earning this scholarship would be a huge help financially.

Coming into high school, I was lost, not knowing what I wanted to do with my future. The
pressure was on as I sat to choose my courses for my freshman year. As I looked at the
courses my school had to offer, I knew I wanted to pick a class that was outside of my comfort
zone. I decided to sign up for the Introduction to Business and Financial Management class.
Going into this class, I didn’t really know much about the business world, but as the year went
on I learned so many new things which sparked new interests and my passion for business.
During my freshman year, not only did I find business fascinating, but my love for math
started to grow even more as I discovered more math theories and equations. I think my love
for math was fed by the sounds of my accountant mom's fingers, clicking away on her
calculator, as I mimicked her on my Fisher-Price cash register growing up. The beauty of math
is that it is a language of order which represents infinite possibilities. While many students say
things like "I hate math, I'm never going to use it in the future,” I felt the opposite. Growing up,
math was the class that I felt the most confident in. I find numbers and mathematical formulas
fascinating, no matter how chaotic they look on the whiteboard, I see a challenge ahead of me
that I am ready to face. When I see a difficult problem I don't feel scared, but instead dared to
use my brain to its fullest potential. I knew I wanted to incorporate mathematics into my future.
Throughout my freshman year, my Algebra teacher started to notice my passion for math and
suggested that I double up in math classes the following year, taking Algebra 2 and Geometry.
At first, I was nervous questioning what crazy person would want to double up in math but I
decided to take a leap of faith anyway. Though the next year was stressful at points, it was fun
to challenge myself. However, I knew I wanted to challenge myself even more, so I asked my
teacher to put me in honors precalculus for my junior year. I guess you can say I wanted as
much pi as I could digest. Currently, I am in AP calculus and my love for math continues to grow
even more.
Wanting to see the business field through a different lens, I signed up for AP
Macroeconomics my junior year. Learning how our economy works and how money flows
through our world, like a river with endless tributaries, drew me in. Theories, equations, dollar
signs, ethics, and infinite possibilities all in one course. What some see as nerdy chaos on a
whiteboard is beautiful in my view. I learned that something as simple as buying an iPhone or
PS4 has an impact on the economy and the economy impacts every aspect of human
existence. Business continued to amaze me and this is when I knew I wanted to pursue
something in it.
To grow my knowledge, I joined a program called Inroads outside of my school, which
allows me to further explore my interest in business and prepares me for what I want to do in the
future. This program allows me to collaborate with others my age, who share the common
passion I have for the business. The people who lead this program are well educated in this field
and teach us things we will need for the future like how to set our resume, how to act during an
interview, time management skills, and more. We are also given monthly activities to test what
we have learned and to show that we are improving. In the summer, I will get the opportunity to
be paired up with a company to do an internship with so that I can get some experience in the
business world.
I believe in the business world it is important to have leadership skills and to be able to
use your voice to make a change. Throughout my four years of high school, I have taken on
multiple leadership roles that have allowed me to grow as a person and have taught me how to
be organized and responsible. I have also joined this club called DECA and have been in it for 3
year years, participating in the marketing category. DECA is my favorite club because it allows
me to get a glimpse of what I want to do in the future, puts myself outside of my comfort zone,
and helps me to gain confidence. To grow my knowledge of different branches of business, I
have also taken other business-related classes such as accounting, marketing, and
entrepreneurship.
Participating in all these activities has allowed me to feed my interest in business and
has made me realize that I want to go down that field. In college, I plan on majoring in finance
and business administration. I love that business is such a broad topic and offers endless
amounts of opportunities. My dream job is to be a hedge fund manager or to be a finance
analyst. Some of the reasons why I would love one of these jobs is because it has everything I
want from working with numbers, problem-solving, using leadership skills, and more. Getting a
college degree is important for me to continue my academic journey and will allow me to
accomplish my goals. Going to college will allow me to collaborate with others that share
common interests as me and to take the knowledge I have gained to use in my future. This
scholarship will be an investment in my future and will allow me to get the best education I could
get to be successful in achieving my dreams.

Going to college is very expensive and is going to be a financial struggle for my parents and earning this scholarship would be a huge help financially. This scholarship too will be an investment in my future and allow me to get the best education.
Bold Helping Others Scholarship
All throughout high school, I wanted to make it a point to find a community within my school and to be an active student whether it came to sports, extracurricular activities, volunteering, taking on leadership roles, or joining programs. I have been the Vice President for my school’s student council for 3 years, which has allowed me to share my ideas and to take on the responsibilities of planning new events and helping with fundraising.
Outside of these clubs, I do a lot of volunteering work within my community. One of the community service activities I have participated in is “Giving Garden”, where I would go every week to my local church’s garden and would look after it by watering the plants, planting more seeds, cleaning up the weeds, and more. When all the vegetables were fully grown, we would donate them to the local family service bureau where they would be then distributed to the less fortunate. I loved being a part of “Giving Garden” because by simply helping out at the garden, it gave people who may not be able to afford these foods, an opportunity to have access to healthier foods. One of the many events I have helped to plan is Night of Nations, where every club at our school gets to represent a country by sharing foods, music, artwork, and other cultural aspects. This event helped to educate other students on different cultures and allowed our school to create a more inclusive environment. I have helped to fundraise for class events such as prom and formal by holding bake sales, creating merchandise, and reaching out to local businesses for help. Having this amount of responsibility has taught me how to become a better leader and time management skills. After I realized how much I enjoyed having a leadership role, I decided to take on more such as being the treasurer of Key Club, Vice President for community service for National Spanish Honors Society, chapter officer for DECA, captain of my track and tennis team, and a CORE ambassador for my school. Each of these clubs and activities has allowed me to use my voice to make the changes I wanted to see in my school.

Hasanovic American Dream Scholarship
Coming into high school, I was lost, not knowing what I wanted to do with my future. The
pressure was on as I sat to choose my courses for my freshman year. As I looked at the
courses my school had to offer, I knew I wanted to pick a class that was outside of my comfort
zone. I decided to sign up for the Introduction to Business and Financial Management class.
Going into this class, I didn’t really know much about the business world, but as the year went
on I learned so many new things which sparked new interests and my passion for business.
