Bio

A little backstory. I am an addict in recovery with over two years sober! I lost my two oldest kids to the system and became addicted to meth. That was 14 years ago. Over the last 14 years, I've been through a lot. I was on the wrong side of CPS. I'm not going to get into it but over the years I have begun to look heavily into becoming a Social Worker because not enough is being done about the nationwide problem you find with CPS. Until you go through that pain of losing a child you don't know. Families are being torn apart more often than not and no child or family should have to endure that. A lot of people are becoming Social Workers these days with only knowledge and a lot of time, not enough knowledge or the credentials to be able to make decisions for these kids. I think that the perfect recipe for a Social Worker is the experience with CPS on the other side plus the credentials, along with the psychology degree so you are aware of the psychology aspect with a side of addiction credentials. Down the road, I plan on getting my Doctorate in social work so I'm on the road to but while I'm going to school for that I plan on working as a Child Protection Social Worker and advocate for those who are in similar situations.

    Disney Super Fan Scholarship
Before I begin, I want to clarify this is going to be hard to keep this between 400-600 words; because my life story is all centered around Disney so I have a lot to say. When I originally came across the scholarship it was different than it is right here so bare with me as I explain why consider myself a Disney superfan. In 1983, 12 years after Walt Disney brought Disney World to Florida someone very special to me got a job working in Costuming at the Magic Kingdom. Two years later I was born on the fourth of July in 1985 and this woman was my mother. Growing up having the place where dreams come true in your backyard and the place you spent a huge portion of your life is something most people spend their lives planning and in some cases not being able to experience even once is something to me that I don't relate too because before we moved from Florida to Minnesota I spend nearly every day at Disney for the first 13 years I was life. Whether it was at Kindercare for daycare or backstage, or underground I was there on the property. By the time I turned five and our families would come from halfway across the United States to go to Disney I was always the tour guide. I knew my way around like the back of my hand, and these weren't small theme parks. Walt Disney World is approximately 25,000 acres which is equivalent to 43 square miles. A lot of people don't know the role a family has to take on because whether it's the mom, dad, brother, or sister who is in the role as a cast member it's the whole family that is in that role. Or at least that's how it was at my house. My Mom was a huge asset to that company and put in more hours than a Mom should have, to be away from her family but that was who she was. Before we left Florida I had a mom but she was always busy with Disney that was all I knew. The downfall of that aspect of my childhood because everything to the people who walk through those gates is magical and happily ever after when you finally get out of that mentality and you finally see the world for what it really is and that prince charming doesn't exist its hard to accept. But it was what I knew and I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything because that is part of me today. I will always have a heart for Disney and will always be probably one of the biggest fans of it even at 38 still get laughed at on an occasion for the spirit I have for it but I feel sorry for the ones who don't get to experience the joy and happiness that you get while you're there. I am already over 500 words so I'm going to add that a few cool experiences that I had were the Easter Parades I was in seven years in a row; as a bunny on the Roger rabbit float, and towns girl; three years for both and the final year as the finaly girl. I was also able to go to bring your daughter to work day. I wish I was able to say more but my time is just about up.
