I believe that every child deserves the best possible care, and I'm committed to helping children who are battling cancer. I'm also passionate about self-improvement and strive to be a better version of myself every day. I'm driven and motivated to achieve my goals, and I believe that my hard work and dedication will help me succeed in my career. this career path I have chosen I take to heart. As a little girl growing up, I have always said I wanted to become a cancer doctor and take part in finding a cure. But when we lost a classmate in the 8th grade to this horrible disease it became real to me that I wanted to help the younger generation What drives me to go down this path is that I have watched several people in my life suffer from cancer and it makes me look at life differently the people were older and I think about the babies and what the families are going through. I come from a family that believes in God and showing kindness and I take those things dear to heart. I feel deep down in my heart I can make a difference in the lives of families that have children battling cancer. I recently went on a visit to MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital to see if this is the path I want to take, and the path for me, and the things my eyes did see when I said those children were the happiest children I did see in the state that they are in and I realize we take so many things for granted in life today, after leaving the hospital I truly cried but I asked God to help me in this journey because this is truly what I would love to do is be a ray of sunshine in these children and families lives and with the help of God I plan on doing that. I think after I have chosen the path that I want to take I have been driven to do my very best so that I can achieve my dream and goal. I know that on this journey that I have chosen to go on, I must take God along with me to achieve my dream and make it a reality, and I am going to do my very best to become the pediatric oncologist that I have set out to be

    After Graduating from Shepherd High School, I will attend Texas State University in San Marcos Texas, to pursue a degree in pediatric oncology. This will no longer be a dream but my reality. unlike some others I have ambitions and I am determined to graduate in 8 years and get my degree. After spending time working at Texas Childrens Hospital, I want to open a long-term Children’s Program that will care for children in the hospital while providing relief for the parents knowing that my staff and I will provide the best care possible for their child. When this opportunity becomes available, I will name it “Faith of a Mustard Seed.” This program will not only offer care, but it will also be faith-based and the love will be genuine. My dreams and ambitions are set by me, but God still has the final say so I am asking God to order my steps and I will acknowledge him in all my ways. I know that he will direct my path so that I can reach the highest success. With the help of receiving this scholarship, I can further my education and have an influence on the community and help young children who are battling Cancer. With God, all things are possible so that's why I acknowledge him in all I say and do. And my dream is to become a pediatric oncologist and I plan on doing that with the help of God. Love you, Yancy Ann Yates
    @normandiealise #GenWealth Scholarship
    Generational wealth refers to assets that are passed down from one generation to the next. It is a concept that has been around for centuries and is often associated with the wealthy elite. However, generational wealth is not just for the wealthy. It is something that anyone can achieve with the right mindset and planning. One of the main benefits of generational wealth is that it provides financial security for future generations. This can include things like a family home, investments, and other assets that can be passed down to children and grandchildren. This can help to ensure that future generations have a solid financial foundation and are not burdened with debt or financial struggles. Another benefit of generational wealth is that it can help to create a legacy for a family. This can include things like charitable giving, scholarships, and other philanthropic efforts that can benefit the community and future generations. It can also help to preserve family traditions and values, which can be passed down through the generations. However, achieving generational wealth is not easy. It requires a long-term perspective and careful planning. This can include things like investing in stocks, real estate, and other assets that can appreciate over time. It can also include things like creating a family trust or other legal structures that can help to protect assets and ensure that they are passed down to future generations. In addition, achieving generational wealth requires a commitment to financial discipline and responsibility. This can include things like living below your means, avoiding debt, and saving for the future. It also requires a willingness to take calculated risks and make smart investment decisions that can help to grow wealth over time. One of the challenges of generational wealth is that it can create a sense of entitlement among future generations. This can lead to a lack of motivation and a sense of complacency, which can be detrimental to long-term financial success. To avoid this, it is important to instill a sense of responsibility and work ethic in future generations and to ensure that they understand the value of hard work and financial discipline. In conclusion, generational wealth is a concept that is important to me and I want to achieve long-term financial security and create a legacy for my future generation. While it requires careful planning and a long-term perspective, it is something that I can achieve with the right mindset and commitment to financial discipline. By investing in assets that appreciate, creating legal structures to protect assets, and instilling a sense of responsibility and work ethic in future generations, anyone can achieve generational wealth and create a lasting legacy for their family.

    Resilience is a trait we should all have and use in times when needed. The definition of resilience is the ability of a person to adjust to or recover readily from illness, adversity, and major life changes. I had a young man in my senior class who was a very quiet young man and I didn't know why exactly he stayed to himself in every class we had together and I am a social butterfly you could say. So one day I decided to approach the young man and I started a friendly conversation with him, and in talking to him he informed me that he had lost his mother at the hands of his father and that his father was in prison and he was currently staying with his grandmother. he begins to tell me he was getting depressed and he felt like he was going to end up like his father one day. I encouraged him and we became friends we would talk every day and I would help him with assignments as needed to give him that push that he can make it. Well after the Christmas break, I noticed that he didn't return I became concerned I went to the counselor only to be told he dropped out and would not be returning to school my whole day became cloudy and I felt like I couldn't concentrate that day in class. I called my mom to see if I could go home. When I made it home I called him only to get no answer so I knew my mother knew his grandmother and I asked her if could she go talk to her when she got off work. My mother talked to his grandmother and found out that he has enrolled in a homeschool program and is living with some other relatives she was able to get an address to him so I send him encouraging packages once a month to let him know he got this and each time I include my phone number and let him know that I am a friend until the end. I can't wait to hear the news about him graduating. Class of 2023. We have to be patient and kind with people we just never know what people are going through in their lives and don't be so quick to judge people by their outer appearance...Being resilient goes a long way even in our own lives.
