My personal experience with domestic violence and substance abuse has impacted me deeply, and has influenced my decision to pursue a career in healthcare administration. Witnessing my mother, a strong African American woman, go through domestic violence was a traumatic experience. I felt helpless and powerless as I watched her struggle to break free from the cycle of abuse. This experience taught me the importance of having healthcare providers who are trained to identify and support victims of domestic violence, and how crucial it is to have a coordinated and compassionate response system in place. As I grew older, I saw more examples of substance abuse within my family, particularly among my aunts and uncles who suffered from alcohol addiction. Witnessing their struggle and eventual demise was heart-wrenching. It made me realize how important it is to address substance abuse issues within the African American community, where the rate of alcoholism is disproportionately high. My personal experiences have motivated me to pursue a career in healthcare administration, with a focus on improving the care, coordination, and communication for African American women who have been impacted by domestic violence and substance abuse. I believe that I can make a difference by using my education and skills to implement better care models, streamline processes, and develop more compassionate responses to these complex issues. One of my key educational goals is to gain a deep understanding of the healthcare system and how it can be improved to better serve underserved populations. I plan to study healthcare administration and policy, as well as gain practical experience through internships and volunteer work. I also plan to pursue training in trauma-informed care, as I believe this approach is crucial in supporting victims of domestic violence and substance abuse. In addition, I plan to use my education to advocate for policy changes that address the root causes of domestic violence and substance abuse, particularly in underserved communities. This includes working with local organizations to develop and implement prevention programs that promote healthy relationships, mental health support, and substance abuse treatment. Ultimately, my goal is to use my higher education to assist in improving the care, coordination, and communication that will ultimately change the outcomes for African American women impacted by domestic violence and substance abuse. By working within the healthcare system, advocating for policy changes, and implementing effective care models, I believe that I can make a positive impact on the lives of those who have been impacted by these complex issues.

My experience with mental health not only influenced my career aspirations but also shaped my beliefs and relationships. Losing my brother and mother within a short period left me feeling devastated and overwhelmed. However, it was during this time that I realized the importance of mental health and the impact it has on our overall well-being. Before this experience, I didn't pay much attention to my mental health. I was always focused on achieving my goals and didn't take the time to acknowledge my emotions or seek help when needed. However, the loss of my loved ones made me realize the significance of prioritizing my mental health. Initially, I tried to cope with my loss by burying myself in work and keeping myself occupied. But, as time passed, I started experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. It was then that I realized that I needed to seek help. At first, it was difficult for me to admit that I needed therapy. I was afraid of being judged and stigmatized. However, I realized that seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of strength. It takes courage to admit that we need help, and I am glad that I made that decision. Finding the right therapist was also a challenge. I wanted someone who could understand my situation and provide me with the necessary support. I was fortunate to find a therapist who was compassionate and empathetic. She helped me navigate my grief and provided me with the tools to cope with my emotions. Through therapy, I learned the importance of self-care and self-compassion. I realized that it is okay to take time off for myself and prioritize my mental health. This was a significant shift in my beliefs, as I had always believed that productivity and success were the most important things in life. My experience with mental health also impacted my relationships. I became more aware of the impact of mental health on those around me, especially my loved ones. I learned to be more empathetic and supportive of those who may be struggling with their mental health. Additionally, my experience has made me more aware of the stigma surrounding mental health. I have become an advocate for mental health awareness and have made it my mission to break down the barriers to accessing mental health services. As a result, my career aspirations have shifted toward healthcare administration. I believe that healthcare should be accessible to all, and mental health services should be a priority. I want to use my skills and knowledge to create innovative programs that cater to underserved communities and address the gaps in mental health care. I am passionate about creating change and making a difference in the lives of those who may be struggling with their mental health. I want to use my platform to raise awareness and create a society that is more accepting of mental health issues. In conclusion, my experience with mental health has influenced my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. It has taught me the importance of prioritizing my mental health and seeking help when needed. It has made me more empathetic and compassionate toward others and has inspired me to create positive change in the world.

Virtual reality (VR) is a technology that is transforming healthcare by providing new tools for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. VR is a computer-generated environment that simulates a real or imagined environment and enables users to interact with it in real time. In healthcare, practitioners are exploring exciting ways that VR can assist patients and health providers to achieve better treatments and outcomes, including in surgery, pain management, physical and cognitive rehabilitation, mental health, and more. One area where VR is showing great promise is in pain management. By immersing patients in a virtual environment, healthcare providers can help patients manage their pain levels without the use of opioids or other painkillers. For example, patients can be transported to a peaceful beach or forest where they can focus on relaxation techniques and mindfulness exercises to help them manage their pain. Another area where VR is making a significant impact is in physical and cognitive rehabilitation. VR can be used to simulate real-world scenarios that enable patients to practice the skills they need to regain their independence, such as walking, driving, or cooking. By immersing patients in a safe and controlled environment, healthcare providers can help patients build their confidence and skills, which can lead to improved outcomes. In surgery, VR can be used to create 3D models of a patient's anatomy, which can be used to plan and prepare for complex surgeries. VR can also be used during the surgery itself, where the surgeon can wear a headset that provides a 360-degree view of the surgical field, which can enhance precision and reduce the risk of complications. In conclusion, virtual reality in healthcare is an exciting technology that has the potential to transform the way we diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate patients. By providing new tools for pain management, physical and cognitive rehabilitation, and surgery, VR is helping to make the world a better place by improving patient outcomes and reducing the use of opioids and other painkillers. As this technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see even more innovative uses of VR in healthcare that will benefit patients and healthcare providers alike.

    Mental Health Importance Scholarship
Mental health, undoubtedly, holds immense significance in our lives. It directly impacts our overall well-being and has a profound effect on our physical health. As a college student who juggles multiple responsibilities, including being a full-time student and working full-time, I have come to realize the importance of prioritizing my mental health. When I neglect my mental health, I have noticed a decline in various areas of my life that require my attention and presence. Hence, maintaining mental wellness has become a critical aspect of my life. One of the key ways I maintain my mental health is by being mindful of my body and its reactions. I pay close attention to how my mind and body respond to different situations, and I listen to their cues. For instance, I have become mindful of my social media consumption and limit it to prevent it from becoming overwhelming. I schedule days where I consciously disconnect from the virtual world and engage in activities that I enjoy. These activities, such as working on my makeup business, going for walks in nature parks, or exploring new interests, allow my brain to take a break from the stresses of life. In addition to disconnecting from technology and engaging in activities I enjoy, I also prioritize self-care. Taking care of my physical health, such as exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and eating a healthy diet, plays a vital role in maintaining my mental wellness. Physical and mental health are interconnected, and when I take care of my body, it positively impacts my mental state as well. Furthermore, I prioritize creating a support system and seeking help when needed. I have realized the importance of surrounding myself with positive and understanding individuals who I can rely on for emotional support. It is okay to seek help from friends, family, or mental health professionals when needed. Seeking professional help is not a sign of weakness, but rather a step towards taking control of one's mental health and well-being. Moreover, practicing stress management techniques has also been crucial in maintaining my mental wellness. Stress is an inevitable part of life, and it can have a significant impact on our mental health. Therefore, I have incorporated stress-reducing practices such as mindfulness meditation, deep breathing exercises, and practicing self-compassion into my daily routine. These techniques help me manage stress and prevent it from negatively affecting my mental health. As a healthcare major, I have witnessed firsthand the impact of mental health on overall health and quality of life. Mental health is a critical aspect of holistic healthcare, and neglecting it can lead to adverse consequences. It is essential to recognize that mental health is not separate from physical health and should be given equal attention and care. In conclusion, I believe that mental health is of utmost importance as it directly affects our overall well-being. Neglecting mental health can have detrimental effects on various aspects of our lives. As a college student managing multiple responsibilities, I prioritize my mental health by being mindful of my body and its reactions, limiting social media consumption, engaging in self-care, creating a support system, and practicing stress management techniques. As a healthcare major, I understand the significance of mental health in our overall health and quality of life. Taking care of our mental health is crucial for leading a healthy, fulfilling life, and I am committed to maintaining my mental wellness to achieve my goals and aspirations in life.

As a student, I am considered non-traditional due to the challenges I have faced back-to-back, challenges that would have caused many others to give up. In December 2020, while I was still an undergraduate student, my younger brother passed away unexpectedly. Just as I was picking up the pieces from that devastating loss, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She fought bravely, but sadly, she passed away in September 2022, during my fall semester. These experiences have undoubtedly shaped my journey as a student and have given me a unique perspective that sets me apart from traditional students. What makes me non-traditional is not just the adversity I have faced, but also how I have chosen to respond to it. Instead of giving in to despair or letting these challenges define me, I have used them as fuel to drive me to do more. I could have easily given up, feeling like every time something good happens, I fall ten times harder. However, I have chosen to channel my grief and pain into motivation, resilience, and determination to create a better future for myself. Despite the odds stacked against me, my drive to do more comes from within. I am not content with just surviving; I am determined to thrive. I refuse to let the challenges I have faced define my path or limit my potential. Instead, I am fueled by a deep sense of purpose and a relentless desire to succeed, despite the obstacles in my way. I am driven by the belief that I am capable of achieving great things, regardless of my circumstances. Moreover, what drives me to do more is my unwavering commitment to honor the memories of my brother and mother. They were my biggest supporters, and losing them has been incredibly painful. However, I am determined to make them proud by pushing myself to excel in my academic pursuits and beyond. Their love, encouragement, and belief in my abilities continue to inspire me to strive for excellence and achieve my goals, no matter how challenging they may seem. Additionally, being a non-traditional student has also given me a unique perspective and a sense of resilience that sets me apart. I have learned to manage my time effectively, prioritize my responsibilities, and navigate through adversity with grace and determination. These skills have not only made me a more independent and self-reliant student but also a more resilient and adaptable individual. Despite the challenges I have faced, I have maintained a steadfast commitment to my education and personal growth. I have pursued opportunities for learning and self-improvement, seeking out mentors, and engaging in extracurricular activities that align with my passions and goals. I have also sought support from professors, advisors, and peers, recognizing that I do not have to face these challenges alone. In conclusion, what makes me a non-traditional student is the series of challenges I have faced and overcome while pursuing my education. However, what sets me apart is not just the adversity I have experienced, but also my unwavering determination to do more and strive for success. My drive to excel comes from within, fueled by a deep sense of purpose and the belief that I am capable of achieving great things. I am committed to honoring the memories of my brother and mother by pushing myself to excel in my academic pursuits and beyond. Despite the obstacles in my way, I am resilient, determined, and focused on creating a better future for myself

Gun violence has directly impacted my life in a devastating way. On December 16, 2020, my only sibling, my younger brother, was tragically killed due to gun violence. He was shot in the head while hanging out with his friends in our neighborhood. This was a heart-wrenching loss for me as my brother and I were best friends. The pain of losing a loved one to gun violence is indescribable, and it has motivated me to take action in bringing awareness to this critical issue throughout my career. One of the issues I observed after my brother's death was the desensitization to gun violence in our community. The frequency of such incidents had numbed people to the gravity of the problem. This realization compelled me to pursue a career in law enforcement. I currently work at the North Miami Police Department, where I have heard countless stories of innocent lives being taken due to gun violence. These experiences have strengthened my resolve to make a difference and create positive change. As I pursue my career in healthcare, I am determined to focus on community outreach and health advocacy to address the issue of gun violence. I believe that healthcare professionals can play a crucial role in raising awareness about gun violence and implementing measures to prevent it. Through my work in community outreach, I plan to reach underserved communities that are disproportionately affected by gun violence. This includes advocating for policy changes, providing education and resources on gun safety, and promoting mental health awareness to prevent gun-related tragedies. In addition to my career plans, I am also actively involved in extracurricular activities that align with my mission to raise awareness about gun violence. I am a member of various organizations that work toward gun violence prevention, such as Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action. These groups engage in grassroots advocacy efforts, including organizing events, advocating for legislation, and promoting community engagement to combat gun violence. I also volunteer at local schools and community centers, where I educate young people about the dangers of guns and the importance of responsible gun ownership. Furthermore, I plan to utilize social media and other online platforms to amplify the message of gun violence prevention. I believe that social media can be a powerful tool to raise awareness, engage with communities, and advocate for change. I will use my online presence to share information, resources, and personal stories about the impact of gun violence, and to promote evidence-based solutions to prevent gun-related tragedies. In conclusion, my personal experience with gun violence has fueled my passion to bring awareness to this critical issue throughout my career. Through my work in healthcare, community outreach, and health advocacy, I plan to make a meaningful impact in preventing gun violence and creating safer communities. I am actively involved in extracurricular activities that align with my mission, and I will utilize social media and other online platforms to amplify my message. I am committed to making a difference in the fight against gun violence and honoring the memory of my brother by advocating for change and promoting safer communities for all.

Financial struggles can often be a significant hindrance when it comes to starting a business. As an aspiring entrepreneur, I have faced my share of challenges that have delayed my dream of opening my own makeup artistry business. One major obstacle that has impeded my progress is my mother's stage 4 cancer progression, which has required me to prioritize taking care of her and providing for her needs, leaving little room for savings or indulging in my interests. As my mother was unable to work due to her health condition, I had to take on additional responsibilities and work diligently with my biweekly checks to support her medical expenses and everyday needs. This left me with limited financial resources to invest in my business venture or pursue additional education to enhance my makeup artistry skills. Despite these challenges, I utilized the tools and skills I already possessed and honed my craft as a makeup artist, leveraging my creativity and passion to provide services to clients in my community. However, I recognize that to take my business to the next level and achieve my long-term goals, I need to further enhance my knowledge and skills in makeup artistry. This requires taking additional courses and learning new techniques that will make me a more effective and professional artist. These courses, however, come with costs, including tuition fees, books, and equipment expenses, which can be challenging to afford on top of my regular financial responsibilities. To navigate through my college career while pursuing my business, I have devised a plan that includes utilizing the revenue generated from my makeup artistry business to support my education and other college-related expenses. By carefully managing my business revenue, I aim to allocate a portion of it towards paying tuition fees, purchasing required books and materials, and creating an emergency fund for unexpected expenses. This will allow me to pursue my educational goals while concurrently growing my business. Furthermore, I believe that my passion for both makeup artistry and education can synergistically complement each other. I am deeply committed to both, and I recognize that obtaining an education and pursuing my business venture can be mutually beneficial. By enhancing my skills and knowledge through education, I can provide better services to my clients and expand my customer base, ultimately leading to increased revenue for my business. On the other hand, my business can also provide me with the financial means to pursue my education and cover college expenses without incurring excessive debts. Receiving a scholarship would be a significant help in realizing my business goals. The financial support of this scholarship would allow me to invest in the additional courses, products, and equipment needed to become a successful makeup artist. It would also provide me with the opportunity to allocate more time toward my goal of becoming a makeup artist and growing my new businnes. In conclusion, financial struggles, such as my mother's illness, have posed challenges and delayed my plan of starting my own business. However, I have utilized the tools I already possess and honed my craft as a makeup artist. To navigate through my college career while opening my business, I plan to use my business revenue to support my education and cover college expenses. I am committed to pursuing both my passion for makeup artistry and my educational goals, and I believe that they can complement each other to create a successful and fulfilling career. With the support of a scholarship, I can overcome the financial obstacles and achieve my dreams of becoming a professional makeup artist while obtaining a quality education.

As I look back on my motivations and aspirations in life, I am reminded of the driving force behind my desire to make a positive impact on the world through my education and career choices. One specific motivation that has shaped my path is the fact that I am the first person in my family to pursue education at an advanced level. This has been a significant driving factor for me, as I have seen firsthand how the lack of education can create disadvantages in life and limit opportunities. I am determined to break that cycle and create a better future not only for myself but also for my family and future generations to come. As I envision the possibilities of what I could do with my life, one particular idea that excites me is creating a technological program that addresses the challenges of disease management in underserved areas. I imagine a system that would effectively log disease data, analyze it, and generate data charts to inform strategies for combatting the disease and alleviating its symptoms. This program would also focus on advocating for therapy and support for individuals who are diagnosed with terminal illnesses. I am deeply passionate about using technology to improve healthcare outcomes and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who are facing health challenges. What fascinates me the most about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is the constant advancement and the diverse range of opportunities it offers. While my initial preference was in the field of healthcare, I was thrilled to discover that I could integrate my passion for healthcare with my interest in information technology. STEM fields provide endless possibilities for innovation and creativity, and I am excited to contribute my skills and ideas to these fields, which are at the forefront of shaping our future. I firmly believe that I can make a positive impact on the world through a career in information technology, particularly in the realm of healthcare. Information technology plays a crucial role in transforming healthcare by improving patient care, streamlining processes, and enabling data-driven decision-making. With my sharp mind and innovative ideas, I am confident that I can contribute to the development of new technologies and systems that will revolutionize healthcare and benefit patients, healthcare providers, and communities alike. However, my journey has not been without challenges. The greatest challenge I have had to face was the unexpected diagnosis of my mother with stage four cancer during my fall semester in 2023. My mother's passing was an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking experience for me, as she was a significant source of motivation in my life. Her absence left a profound impact on me and ignited a renewed determination to pursue my education and career in STEM fields, particularly in information technology in healthcare. Witnessing my mother's experience with cancer and observing how healthcare providers dealt with her care further inspired me to focus on information technology in healthcare. I realized that despite the advancements in healthcare, there were still gaps in information systems and technology that could be addressed to improve patient care and support for families. This experience solidified my resolve to make a meaningful contribution to the field of information technology in healthcare and work towards creating innovative solutions that can positively impact patients and their families in their time of need.

Generational wealth, to me, means breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a legacy that will benefit not just myself, but future generations of my family. It means ensuring that my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have access to opportunities and resources that were denied to me and my ancestors. Generational wealth is about creating a foundation of financial stability that can be built upon by future generations. I come from a family that has struggled financially for generations. My grandparents worked multiple jobs just to make ends meet, and my parents faced similar challenges as they raised my siblings and me. Growing up, I always knew that money was tight, and that there were certain things that we simply couldn't afford. As I got older, I realized that this was not just a personal struggle, but a systemic issue that affected many families in my community. Generational wealth represents an opportunity to change this narrative. By creating a legacy of financial stability, I can ensure that my family does not have to face the same struggles that I did. It means breaking down barriers that prevent people of color, low-income families, and other marginalized groups from accessing resources and opportunities that can improve their financial well-being. In order to achieve generational wealth, I plan to pursue higher education and obtain a job that allows me to make a significant impact on my bloodline. Education is one of the most powerful tools that can be used to create upward mobility and improve one's financial situation. By obtaining a college degree and pursuing advanced training and certifications in my field, I can increase my earning potential and provide a solid foundation for my future family. Beyond education, I also plan to be intentional about my spending and saving habits. One of the keys to building generational wealth is to avoid unnecessary debt and expenses, and to prioritize saving and investing for the long-term. I plan to create a budget and stick to it, while also exploring different investment opportunities that can help me grow my wealth over time. Another important aspect of building generational wealth is to pass down financial knowledge and skills to future generations. This means teaching my children and grandchildren about the importance of saving, investing, and budgeting, and providing them with the resources and tools to make informed financial decisions. By equipping future generations with financial literacy skills, I can ensure that they are better prepared to manage their finances and build their own legacies of wealth. Ultimately, generational wealth is about breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for future generations. By pursuing education, making intentional financial decisions, and passing down financial knowledge and skills, I can create a foundation of financial stability that can benefit my family for generations to come. It is my hope that by doing so, I can help to create a more equitable and just society, where everyone has the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their families.

Cancer is a life-altering disease that affects not only the patient but also their loved ones. As a child of a mother diagnosed with breast cancer, I can attest to the profound impact it had on my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. My experience with cancer has transformed me into a person with a newfound appreciation for health and an unwavering desire to help others through the healthcare field. Initially, my mother's diagnosis did not seem real to me. I was young and ignorant, not fully comprehending the severity of the situation. However, as I watched my mother go through the arduous process of chemotherapy and radiation, I was forced to confront the reality of cancer. The emotional rollercoaster that ensued changed me forever. I realized the fragility of life and how vital it is to prioritize our health. My mother's diagnosis also prompted me to become more proactive about my health. I began researching holistic approaches to disease prevention, such as natural remedies and healthy lifestyle choices. This newfound interest in holistic health became a significant aspect of my beliefs, and I am now committed to living a healthy and balanced life. The impact of cancer on my relationships was also significant. I felt alone and misunderstood, struggling to communicate my feelings and experiences to my friends and family. I realized that unless someone has been through a similar situation, it is challenging to understand the emotional turmoil of being a caregiver to a cancer patient. This realization prompted me to seek out support groups and resources for individuals in my situation. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a support group specifically for children of stage four cancer patients, but if given the platform, I would start one to provide a safe and supportive community for those going through similar experiences. My experience with cancer has also shaped my career aspirations. Before my mother's diagnosis, I had a vague idea of what I wanted to do with my life, but nothing concrete. However, witnessing the incredible care and support that my mother received from her healthcare team sparked a passion in me to pursue a career in the healthcare field. I am now eager to learn everything I can about health and disease prevention, with the ultimate goal of creating or managing a preventative care facility for underserved communities, particularly African Americans, who face higher rates of cancer and often lack access to proper care. In conclusion, my experience with cancer, albeit difficult, has transformed me into a person with a deep appreciation for health and a desire to help others. Cancer is a devastating disease that affects not only the patient but also their loved ones. However, through my experience, I have found the silver lining in that it has inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare and work towards creating a world where cancer prevention and care are accessible to all.

As someone with a passion for service, I will use my skills and talents to make a difference in the lives of others. I will seek out opportunities to support causes that I believe in and to work towards making the world a better place. In addition to these specific actions, I believe that there are certain qualities and traits that are essential for building a more empathetic and understanding global community. These include: Patience: Building a more empathetic and understanding community requires patience. We need to be willing to listen to others, even if we do not agree with them, and to take the time to understand their perspectives. Compassion: Compassion is the ability to feel empathy for others and to take action to help them. When we have compassion for others, we are more likely to act in ways that are kind, generous, and helpful. Open-mindedness: Open-mindedness is the ability to consider different perspectives and to be willing to change our views when presented with new information. Respect: Respect is the foundation of any healthy relationship or community. We need to respect each other's opinions, beliefs, and values, even if we do not agree with them. In conclusion, I am committed to using my unique talents and skills to build a more empathetic and understanding global community. By being a transparent leader, an encourager, and a positive force for change, I hope to inspire others to embrace these values as well. While building a more connected and harmonious community may not be easy, I believe that by working together and focusing on our shared humanity, we can create a better world for ourselves and future generations.

As an American citizen, I am deeply passionate about the US Constitution and its role in shaping our nation's laws and values. The Constitution outlines the principles of democracy, individual liberties, and equality for all citizens, and I believe that it is essential to preserve and protect these ideals for future generations. My passion for the Constitution stems from my belief that it is the foundation of our democracy and the backbone of our legal system. The Constitution outlines our rights as citizens, including the right to free speech, the right to bear arms, and the right to a fair trial. It also establishes the principles of separation of powers, checks and balances, and federalism, which ensure that no one branch of government has too much power. The Constitution has also played a significant role in shaping our nation's civil rights laws. The 14th Amendment, for example, guarantees equal protection under the law and has been used to fight against discrimination on the basis of race, gender, and sexual orientation. The Constitution has been a powerful tool in the fight for civil rights, and I am proud to be a part of that legacy. In my career, I plan to continue to fight for civil rights by working to improve healthcare access and outcomes for African Americans. As a healthcare professional, I have seen firsthand the disparities that exist in healthcare, particularly for African Americans. African Americans are more likely to suffer from chronic illnesses, such as diabetes and heart disease, and have a shorter life expectancy than other racial groups. These disparities are not due to biological differences but are instead the result of social and economic factors, such as poverty, lack of access to healthcare, and discrimination. I believe that it is my responsibility as a healthcare professional to work towards eliminating these disparities and ensuring that all patients receive the care they deserve. To achieve this goal, I plan to work in underserved communities, particularly in areas with large African American populations. I will work to improve access to healthcare services, including preventative care and chronic disease management. I will also work to address the social determinants of health, such as poverty and lack of access to healthy food options, which can have a significant impact on health outcomes. I also plan to be an advocate for healthcare policy changes that will improve healthcare access and outcomes for African Americans. This may include advocating for policies that address healthcare disparities, such as funding for community health centers and initiatives to increase the diversity of healthcare providers. It may also involve advocating for policies that address broader social issues, such as affordable housing and access to healthy food options. In addition to my work in healthcare, I plan to continue to be an advocate for civil rights in my personal life. This may involve participating in community organizing efforts, advocating for policy changes at the local and national levels, and educating others on the importance of civil rights and the Constitution. In conclusion, my passion for the US Constitution and civil rights has motivated me to pursue a healthcare career where I can work to improve healthcare access and outcomes for African Americans. I believe that everyone deserves equal access to healthcare, regardless of their race or socioeconomic status, and I am committed to fighting for this cause throughout my career. I will also continue to be an advocate for civil rights in my personal life and work towards creating a more just and equitable society for all.

Maintaining personal wellness while attending college can be challenging, but it is crucial for academic success. During my college years, I realized the importance of taking care of my physical and mental health. In this essay, I will discuss the ways I managed my personal wellness and how it helped me succeed as a student. One of the ways I managed my personal wellness was by working out. I had struggled with my weight my whole life, and it had always caused me anxiety and restlessness. As I pursued a career in healthcare, I made the connection that my weight was causing me problems in these areas. I knew that I wanted to be a great student, and these symptoms would hinder me. Therefore, I made it a priority to focus on my health. I started by setting a realistic workout schedule and sticking to it. I would wake up early and hit the gym before my classes started. This routine helped me to clear my mind and reduce stress. I also noticed that my energy levels were much higher, and I was more focused during lectures. In addition to working out, I also prioritized my nutrition. I made sure to fuel my body with healthy foods and avoided fast food and sugary drinks. I started meal prepping, which not only saved me time but also helped me stick to my nutrition goals. By eating a balanced diet, I felt more energized and was able to concentrate better during my classes. Moreover, I made sure to prioritize my mental health. I found that college can be a very stressful environment, and it is important to take time for yourself. I made sure to take breaks and do activities that brought me joy, such as reading, writing, and spending time with friends. I also took advantage of the resources provided by the university's counseling services, which helped me to deal with stress and anxiety. By prioritizing my wellness, I was able to succeed academically. My grades improved, and I felt more motivated to learn. I found that I was better equipped to handle the demands of college life, and I had a more positive outlook on my future. I was also able to network and make connections with other students who were also interested in health and wellness, which was helpful for my career goals. Overall, managing my personal wellness while attending college was a game-changer for me. By working out, eating healthy, and prioritizing my mental health, I was able to succeed academically and set myself up for a successful career in healthcare. It taught me the importance of self-care and that taking care of yourself should always be a priority. I encourage all students to prioritize their wellness and make it a part of their daily routine.

Throughout my life, I have always been drawn to community service and helping those who are less fortunate. From volunteering at local soup kitchens and homeless shelters to participating in charity events and fundraisers, I have found fulfillment in giving back to my community and making a positive impact on the lives of others. One of the main factors that has brought me to community service is seeing the struggles and hardships of those who are less fortunate. I have witnessed firsthand the effects of poverty, homelessness, and lack of access to resources and support systems. These experiences have motivated me to take action and do what I can to make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling. In addition to my personal desire to serve others, many of my jobs have also required me to engage in community service. For example, I have worked in customer service positions where I have had the opportunity to help individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances. These experiences have further reinforced my passion for community service and have inspired me to continue to seek out opportunities to give back. Beyond community service, I am also drawn to disaster relief work. Natural disasters can have devastating effects on communities, often leaving individuals and families without access to basic necessities such as food, shelter, and medical care. I believe that disaster relief work is important because it provides critical support to those who are most vulnerable and helps to rebuild and strengthen communities in the aftermath of a crisis. In terms of my future contributions in these areas, I plan to continue to seek out volunteer opportunities and to engage in community service on a regular basis. I believe that there are always ways to give back, whether it be through donating time, resources, or skills. I also plan to pursue further education and training in disaster relief work, including courses on emergency response, crisis management, and humanitarian aid. Ultimately, my goal is to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who are in need, both in my local community and beyond. I believe that community service and disaster relief work are important not only for the individuals and communities who are directly impacted but for society as a whole. By coming together to support one another and address societal issues, we can create a more just and equitable world. To achieve this goal, I plan to seek out volunteer opportunities with reputable organizations that align with my values and mission. I also plan to continue to educate myself on the most effective and sustainable approaches to community service and disaster relief work. By staying informed and engaged, I believe that I can make a greater impact and contribute to positive change in the world. In conclusion, my passion for community service and disaster relief work has been shaped by a combination of personal experiences and professional opportunities. I am committed to making a meaningful impact in these areas and plan to continue to seek out opportunities to serve others and contribute to positive change. I believe that through community service and disaster relief work, we can create a more just and equitable world, one that is characterized by compassion, empathy, and a commitment to serving others.

As a human being, I am unique in many ways. My experiences, perspectives, and personality traits all contribute to the qualities that make me who I am. But what sets me apart from others is not just my individuality, but how I choose to leverage my uniqueness to make a difference in someone's life, even if I have no idea they are watching me. One way that I leverage my uniqueness is through my creativity. I have always had a passion for writing, and I use this skill to express myself in a way that resonates with others. Whether it's through storytelling, poetry, or personal essays, I try to create content that is relatable and meaningful. By sharing my experiences and emotions in this way, I hope to inspire others to do the same and to let them know that they are not alone in their struggles. Another way that I leverage my uniqueness is through my empathy. I have a natural ability to put myself in other people's shoes and to understand their perspectives. This allows me to connect with people on a deeper level and to provide support and comfort when they need it most. Even if I have no idea that someone is watching me, I try to approach each interaction with kindness and understanding, knowing that even small acts of compassion can have a big impact. In addition to my creativity and empathy, I also leverage my uniqueness through my willingness to take risks. I am not afraid to try new things or to take on challenges that may seem daunting at first. This mindset has allowed me to push myself beyond my comfort zone and to pursue opportunities that have led to personal and professional growth. By demonstrating this willingness to take risks, I hope to inspire others to do the same and to show them that they are capable of achieving great things if they are willing to take a chance. But how can I make a difference in someone's life if I have no idea they are watching me? The truth is, we never know who is watching us or how our actions may impact others. That's why it's important to always strive to be the best version of ourselves, even when we think no one is paying attention. By leading by example and living our lives with intention and purpose, we can inspire others to do the same and create a ripple effect of positivity and change. For example, maybe someone is struggling with self-doubt and lack of confidence. They come across a social media post where I share my own experience of overcoming these same struggles. Even though I may not know that this person is watching me, my words and vulnerability could give them the courage they need to push through their own challenges and pursue their dreams. In conclusion, my uniqueness as an individual allows me to make a difference in someone's life, even if I have no idea they are watching me. By leveraging my creativity, empathy, and willingness to take risks, I strive to inspire others to be their best selves and to live their lives with intention and purpose. And while I may never know exactly who is watching or how my actions are impacting others, I trust that by living authentically and leading with kindness, I can make a positive difference in the world.

A few years earlier, I witnessed some of my family members suffer from different diseases, and the fact that they did not receive quality care made their health conditions worsen. Later this year, I also lost my mother, and that was the immense grief I experienced in my life. Throughout this period, I was struggling financially as I had to sort my bills and also cater for my school expenses. My experiences with handling grief, financial challenges, and interactions in the healthcare discipline have continued to inspire me to seek a career in healthcare in either of the following; Information Technology, Epidemiology, or Cyber risk management so that I can participate in reducing health risks amongst minorities, cancer prevention programs and intervention approaches aimed at early disease detection and also reinforce the use of holistic health methods. Throughout the successes of my efforts, I have realized that lack of finances and lack of ambition are societal limitations to achieving success. I come from a humble background, and that did not hinder me from succeeding in school or taking part in initiatives that improve healthcare programs in my community. My education journey has been filled with financial challenges, and I have always struggled to balance school and private life to make ends meet. Therefore, I consider my low-income status a launching pad and not a barrier to fulfilling my goals. My biggest takeaway has always been to help minority communities in learning more about different health disorders and also take an active role in healthcare so that health risks that impact the life of minority ethnicities are eliminated. I believe that suitable education and knowledge are vital since they enhance experience. I would like to pursue a master's program on either of the three specifications mentioned above since they will help me in fulfilling my goal and also helping people from minority communities to have access to better and quality healthcare. I decided to pursue a career in healthcare since my passion revolves around helping people receive appropriate care. The experiences from watching my family members receive low-quality healthcare have continued to influence me to choose a career path in healthcare because I believe that if I fulfill my career goals, I will be of great help in enhancing the community’s health condition and also spreading awareness about the significance of learning more about different health risks. Again, cancer is the second disease that causes deaths worldwide, therefore, I hope to take part in healthcare interventions that seek to prevent the disease and promote other holistic approaches that address several health disorders. Furthermore, I want to give back to underserved populations which struggle every day with accessing medical care and also acquiring information about health risks that determine their health status. I am sure that my career goals will remain a dream because currently, I am struggling financially, and that is why I am seeking a scholarship that will help me fulfill my goals through good education. Therefore, I will commit myself to working hard once I am admitted to a program and help people from my community, for example, Jamaicans, African-Americans, and Asians. Admission into a program will also provide me with an opportunity to network and learn more about healthcare. In the future, I will play a vital role in cancer prevention, the reduction of health risks in minority populations, and the use of holistic health approaches, which are my primary areas of focus. Ultimately, I hope to inspire and lead change so that my education success can leave a legacy that will shape the generation that follows me.

Therefore, I will commit myself to working hard once I am admitted to a program and help people from my community, for example, Jamaicans, African-Americans, and Asians. Admission into a program will also provide me with an opportunity to network and learn more about healthcare. Thus, in the future, I will play a vital role in cancer prevention, the reduction of health risks in minority populations, and the use of holistic health approaches, which are my primary areas of focus. Ultimately, I hope to inspire and lead change so that my education success can leave a legacy.

My experiences with handling grief, financial challenges, and interactions in the healthcare discipline have continued to inspire me to seek a career in healthcare in either of the following; Information Technology, Epidemiology, or Cyber risk management so that I can participate in reducing health risks amongst minorities, cancer prevention programs, and intervention approaches aimed at early disease detection and also reinforce the use of holistic health methods. Throughout the successes of my efforts, I have realized that poverty and lack of ambition are societal limitations to achieving success. I come from a humble background, and that did not hinder me from succeeding in school or taking part in initiatives that improve healthcare programs in my community. Therefore, I consider my low-income status a launching pad and not a barrier to fulfilling my goals. My biggest takeaway has always been to help minority communities in learning more about different health disorders and also take an active role in healthcare so that health risks that impact the life of minority ethnicities are eliminated. Further, I believe that suitable education and knowledge are vital since they enhance a person's experience, and that is why I would like to pursue a master's program on either of the three specifications mentioned above since they will help me in fulfilling my goal and also helping people from minority communities to have access to better and quality healthcare. Again, cancer is the second disease that causes deaths worldwide, therefore, I hope to take part in healthcare interventions that seek to prevent the disease and promote use of other holistic approaches that address several health disorders. Connie Konatsotis Scholarship
My name is Tamera Calhoun, and I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in healthcare administration at Florida International University. My goal is to become a cybersecurity specialist working for a healthcare facility. Cybersecurity management has always fascinated me. I wish to join a master's program immediately after my undergraduate program. I cannot wait to use my master’s degree to create and develop innovative new assessment risks of patient information breaches in an organization. Already my courses have done so much to prepare me for a future position and responsibilities by expanding my knowledge of healthcare management. Studying cybersecurity management will equip me with computer and network protection knowledge within the healthcare system. I aim to provide the first line of defense against the increasing number of cyber-attacks within the healthcare system. The scholarship could provide the resources to continue my education, learn valuable skills and qualify me for my dream employment. The scholarship will contribute significantly to my education. I recently lost my mother, who has supported my education since childhood. It left me with the challenge of financing my education. I have tried balancing a part-time job and learning, but it is hectic because I am expected to work 40 hours a week. I plan to study cybersecurity management and eventually pursue a career as a healthcare administrator. Cybersecurity has tough courses – hence, obtaining this scholarship will help me focus on those classes rather than worrying about how to pay for them. The financial support from your scholarship will be more than 40 hours of working at a student job. I can use the 40 hours to focus on studying, graduating, and achieving my goals. I am a high-performing student, and because of my outstanding performance, I have been offered an induction to the National Society of Leadership and Success. The scholarship will help me overcome educational and financial expenses and proceed to the Ph.D. level. I want to study cybersecurity management because I have always been passionate about working in a healthcare organization and helping patients. When I was young, my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. Many patients complained of losing their data online and their status being exposed. Some patients had to transfer to other hospitals. I felt the organization needed a cybersecurity specialist to manage its systems. The incident motivated me to pursue courses related to healthcare administration. I left the hospital that day knowing with complete certainty that when I got to the University, I would study courses related to healthcare management. Thus, when I entered the University as a freshman, I got more committed to the program than ever to being the source of comfort and concern that years ago, my grandfather had to be re-diagnosed due to data loss. This scholarship means more to me than just another year at the University. I have demonstrated management skills in my undergraduate course and the desire to help others. From the experience I have achieved throughout my college and university career, I am convinced that I can lead and manage a healthcare facility and ensure patients' safety and privacy – which is the core responsibility of all healthcare practitioners. Receiving the scholarship will ensure my dream comes true. It will enable me to further my knowledge of management issues, especially cybersecurity management in healthcare. Given the scholarship, I will complete my education with ease, return, and deliver to the community by serving their needs in a healthcare facility where I will be employed.
