Coach Doc Ryan Memorial Scholarship
Throughout my highschool career, I have been involved in a multitude of clubs, sports, and student-led events that have shaped my character and who I have grown to be. My first year at Terrell High School was in 2022. Coming in as a sophomore, I did not know many people and I was shy, but I adjusted rather quickly because of how welcoming the football team was. The sense of brotherhood and family that I was surrounded with made it easy to mix in with my teammates. I was involved in football all four years of highschool, three of those years with the Terrell Tigers. Unfortunately, my junior and senior year seasons were cut short due to two ACL tears within a year.
Although I had two major injuries, I did not let that hinder me in the classroom. I continued to stay diligent and intentional with my studies, and my grades never slipped. Even when I was sad or in a slump, I knew that life had to continue progressing forward and that meant that I did too. With the help of my mother keeping me encouraged and focused on the goal ahead, I was able to stay inspired. Not only did I keep my grades up and participate in sports, but I also work, am involved in clubs at Terrell High School and volunteer outside of school. Some clubs I am involved in are Key Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, and I am also a student ambassador. My favorite volunteer event that I have participated in is ‘’Pancake Day” for Key Club. I enjoyed this volunteer experience the most because I got to make pancakes and serve them to our hardworking community members. These clubs have led me to people who are just as motivated and eager to volunteer and help others as I am. I managed to maintain a GPA above a 4.0, as well as keeping my rank of number three thus far.
In all, I have been involved in many events and clubs throughout my highschool career, but I never let it get in the way of the main goal which was to graduate at the top of my class. During my years at Terrell High School, I have exemplified that I can be a focused,well-rounded, and a determined student all while maintaining good grades, staying busy outside of school, and nursing major knee injuries. This scholarship money will tremendously help me in pursuing a higher education to achieve my goals that I have set in the long run.
