I am a single mother of two children. I sacrifice so much in order to provide my children with a better life. By furthering my education, I can prepare for my children’s futures. I have 5-year plan and by the time I’m 36 I would like to be debt free, have financial stability, and be able to sit aside funding for my children’s future.
My goal is to return to school to receive my associates in nursing degree, once completed I would like to combine both my BS in healthcare administration and AS in nursing to become a pharmaceutical nurse, sitting in on the clinical trial of new medication coming to the market, monitoring possible side effects, drug interactions, and most importantly how the new medication benefits the patient's current health condition. Healthcare is important to me because I can be part of the change, needed to provide quality care to each patient I interact with. I look at all my patients as family, I treat them the way I would want my family to be treated by any healthcare professional.

I am a single mother of two children, with a lack of support from both my children’s fathers. Not only am I trying to further my educational background to provide my children with a better life; but I also must work full-time to support our household. Becoming a young parent has put a strain on my journey to higher education because I don’t have the support needed from family members or their fathers to help with the little things such as taking them to doctor’s appointments, getting them to and from school, getting them to and from extracurricular activities. I sacrificed a lot for my children, and I don’t regret having children at all.
My original plan after high school was to become a pharmacist because I have always been amazed by the way medication helps patients and certain health conditions and what the medication targets to either stabilize or correct the health condition the patient has been diagnosed with, but those plans quickly detoured when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter before graduating high school. In 2013, I completed my Associate of Arts in Health Science. While working at Walmart as a cashier, I reached out to the pharmacist at Walmart at the time Warren Sheahan. I expressed to him much it meant to me to become a pharmacy tech and the drive and passion I had when it came to helping others. I'll never forget Mr. Warren he gave me my first chance at being able to put my passion for helping others to use. I enrolled in the job training program for pharmacy techs with Walmart, and in January 2014 I became a registered pharmacy tech with the state of Florida, later that year in May, I became a nationally certified pharmacy tech. I have been a certified pharmacy tech for 9 years, of course, every profession has its ups and downs, but overall, the good always outweighed the bad because I was doing what I loved the most and that was helping the patient in any way possible received the medications they needed. I always go above and beyond for the patient, such as reaching out to the insurance company for prior authorization, formula change, etc., finding manufacture coupons to help the patients receive the biggest discount on their expensive medications, reaching out to the doctor's office for refill authorization, or medication changes, or interactions. Whatever I could do to help the patients I did it to my fullest potential.
Despite the obstacle life has thrown my way, my children deserve the best life possible being that they didn’t ask to be here. By furthering my education, I can prepare for my children’s futures. By the time I’m 36, I would like to be debt free, have financial stability, and be able to set aside funding for my children’s future. my goal is to return to school to receive my associate's in nursing, once completed I would like to combine both my BS in healthcare administration and AS in nursing to become a pharmaceutical nurse, sitting in on the clinical trial of new medication coming to the market, monitoring possible side effects, drug interactions, and most importantly how the new medication benefits the patient's current health condition. Dr. Ifeoma Ezebuiro Ezeobele Africans in Nursing Scholarship
I choose nursing as my career path because of the passion I have for helping others. I look at each patient I interact with as family because I treat each patient the same way I would want my family members to be treated by any healthcare professional. I also want to be a part of the change, I would like to see in healthcare as a nurse.
Health care is important to me because I want to be in a position where I can advocate for each patient, and be their voice and strength when they aren't able to advocate for themselves, or don't have to support system to do so. Nursing is the way of life, society wouldn't be able to function without nurses, and the quality of care provided would be terrible and treatment would be little to none without nurses. The demand for nurses is very high and they are the backbone of hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers. Most importantly, nurses' knowledge is invaluable, being able to care for multiple patients each day, as well as making sure all their needs are met speaks a thousand words to why nurses are so important and valuable in the healthcare ladder.
It's important to me because once I have completed nursing school I would like to become a pharmaceutical nurse. Instead, I decided to get my Associate of Arts in Health Science and I enrolled in the on-the-job training at Walmart to become a Certified Pharmacy Tech. I have been a pharmacy tech for 10 years, I enjoyed everything about it, always learning new things about pharmacy and new drugs coming to the market. I still felt like a part of me wasn't satisfied, so I started doing more research into the nursing program and came across the description for a pharmaceutical nurse. It is a nurse that sits in on the clinical trial of new medication coming to the market, monitoring possible side effects of patients a part of the clinical trial, drug interactions, and most importantly how the new medication benefits the patient's current health condition.

I am a single mother of two children, my oldest child, her name is I’yana, and she’ll be 13 in October.
My original plan after high school was to become a pharmacist because I have always been amazed by the way medication helps patients and certain health conditions and what the medication targets to either stabilize or correct the health condition the patient has been diagnosed with, but those plans quickly detoured when I found out I was pregnant.
At the age of 18, I graduated high school five months pregnant. My mom sat down with me, and we came up with a plan so that I could still be successful in life. The agreement was, if I continue to further my education, work, and provided a stable foundation for my daughter, she wouldn’t allow me to raise my daughter alone and that she would help me to my fullest potential because she knew that I was working towards providing my kid with a stable, healthy life, despite her father being absent from her life. I enrolled in the CAPS (College Achievement Program) and received a 2-year scholarship to Santa Fe College. I completed my Associate Arts Degree I’m 2013. Along the way, I received my pharmacy tech license and certification, my certified nursing assistant license (CNA), and recently I received my bachelor’s in healthcare administration.
I have always had a passion for helping others and despite the obstacle, life has thrown my way, my children deserve the best life possible being that they didn’t ask to be here. By furthering my education, I can prepare for my children’s futures. By the time I’m 36, I would like to be debt free, have financial stability, and be able to set aside funding for my children’s future. Becoming pregnant young never discouraged me, but helped motivate me to work hard and give my child a better life. Now, I am a single mother to two children, and my main concern when it comes to my children is financial security, a steady healthy foundation, and them being able to pass down family assets. Achieving this goal starts with me getting back into school to further my education, doing what I love "helping others" as well as building my future for myself and my children.

@normandiealise #GenWealth Scholarship
Generational wealth is the transfer of assets from one generation to the next. It's important to me to be able to transfer any assets that I built down to my children for them to be able to contribute back into the family assets and eventually transfer their assets to their children, and then their children's, children's. Growing up, I never really saw financial stability, it has always been my mom as a single parent trying to make ends meet, living from paycheck to paycheck. Don't get me wrong, my mom made sure that my little brother and myself had a decent life. Yes, we witness the financial struggle and the lack of support from a few family members that had the means to help support and keep my mom afloat financially but could carelessly do so.
My mom is the youngest of 8 siblings, two being deceased. I always saw it unfair that she had to take on the responsibility of being the primary caregiver for my grandmother without help from her older siblings. I have always seen my mom make a way out of no way for myself, my little brother, and my grandmother. I don't want that for my children. I don't want them to witness or even feel what it's like to go through a financial burden. The only way for me to achieve this plan is by furthering my education so that I can prepare for my children’s future, I want them to be financially comfortable so that they can start their businesses, or pay for college without having to pay back student loans or struggle to find scholarships for financial help such as myself just to continue to further their education.
By the time I’m 36, I would like to be debt free, have financial stability, and be able to set aside funding for my children’s future. My goal is to return to school to receive my associate's in nursing degree, once completed I would like to combine both my BS in healthcare administration and AS in nursing to become a pharmaceutical nurse. My children didn't ask to come into the dirty world so it is only right for me to secure a better future for myself first, to give my children that financial cushion they need to be successful in life. I didn't have that growing up, or even now, robbing Peter to pay Paul isn't the future I want for myself or my children.

In May of 2016 I gave birth to my son Titan and when I laid eyes on him, I knew the only way to give my children a better life was by furthering my education. I married my son’s father in May of 2015, after his incarnation., we had already been together two-years prior before his prison sentence. After his time served, we decided to get married. Things were great in the beginning, once married we conceived our first child together in September of 2015. Maybe three to four months later things begin to turn sour. A lot of dishonesty, extramarital affairs, an outside child conceived. This was a devasting time for me because after the birth of my son I found all these things out, on top of experiencing postpartum depression. My grandmother helped me so much throughout that trying time with my son. She basically moved in with me in the first few months of my son’s life to help me raise him and help with my daughter while I got back on feet and back to work.

My goal is to return to school to receive my associate's in nursing degree, once completed I would like to combine both my BS in healthcare administration and AS in nursing to become a pharmaceutical nurse.

I am a single mother of 2 children, with the lack of support from both my children fathers. Not only am I trying to further my educational background to provide my children with a better life; I also have to work full-time in order to support our household. Being a parent has affected my journey to higher education because I don’t have the support I need from family members or their fathers to help with the little things such as taking them to doctor’s appointments, getting them to and from school, getting them to and from extracurricular activities. I sacrificed a lot for my children and I don’t regret having my children at all. However, they do deserve the best life possible being that they didn’t ask to be here. By further my education, I can prepare for my children futures. By the time I’m 35 I will like to be debt free, have financial stability, and to be able to set aside funding for my children’s future. My oldest child, her name is I’yana and she’s 11. I had her at an young age, I was 18. I graduated high school 5 months pregnant; I enrolled in the CAPS (College Achievement Program) and received a 2-year scholarship to Santa Fe College. I completed my Associate Arts Degree I’m 2013. Along the way I received my pharmacy tech license and certificate, my certified nursing assistance license (CNA), and recently I received my Bachelors in Healthcare Administration. My ultimate goal is to return back to school to receive my nursing degree and combine both my BS and AS in nursing to become Nurse Administrator. Back in 2016 I gave birth to my son Titan and when I laid eyes on him, I knew the only way to give my children a better life was by furthering my education.
