My goal is to become a Physical Therapist. I believe that by helping others I am adding to my community by being a great citizen. I also plan to become a dance instructor during my free time. Given back to the youth comes with some amazing qualities. You become a great mentor while the youth learn to become confident, wanted, and rewarded in many different ways. I am special because of those who open doors to me and I want to become an valuable asset to others.

I'm currently going through a challenge as I type this essay. My name is Tah'Jaye Johnson, I am a black African American young woman from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I attend Lincoln University College, going into my second year. I am striving and pushing myself to overcome adversity by trying to help my mother keep me in school. My first year the college gave me money towards helping me to attend. It appears that each year the financial assistance goes down, making it hard for my mother to consider me going back because of the financial burden it puts on her and my younger siblings. When the semester ended, I came home and got a job to help raise money because I really want to go back. My entire high school years, I worked hard to get to college. My education is important to me, I don't want to be or become a product of my environment. I want to be an educated good citizen. I deserve every opportunity to stay in college.
I'm studying for a health and science degree to become a physical therapist and this is how I will help my community in the future. By being knowledgeable and educating others of the importance of exercising, eatting healthy, nursing those in my community back to health when needed. I have been an effective citizen to my community already. I volunteerd at my local recreation center giving back to the kids in my neighborhood by teaching dance techniques to young children who couldn't afford a regular performing arts schools, just like myself. I attended Franklin Learning Center High School for performance arts. I didn't have experience or advanced training but I practiced hard, I watched videos, my mother supports me as much as possible. When the opportunities came for advanced training at the school, they were never free, my couldn't afford, so I always sat out and this is how I decided that young kids in the community could benefit from having an opportunity, for someone to give them a chance, hear and support their dance dreams. I am now a Lincoln University Dance Choreographer. I just earned this position the end of my spring semester but it does not come with financial income.
College is expensive, the government should really step up their game to help low income households for children, young adults that really want to make something of themselves. Money is needed, not everyone is born into money. This scholarship would help take a little burden off my college fees. The support is definitely needed, books, housing, meals. I am so grateful for platforms and programs like bold to give the youth opportunities to strive for support. Thank you so much.
Black Leaders Scholarship
I am a black young woman. The oldest of three children from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The first to attend college and trying to find many ways to fundraise so that I assure I graduate. I'm currently a freshman at HBCU Lincoln University. I fought really hard to be here. I attended Franklin Learning Center High School, where I graduated with over a 3.0 GPA. A National honors society student in academics and in dance. Dance was my major of study and this is why Ms. Misty Copeland is a major black American female dance inspiration to me.
Dance is one of my creative passions. I get to express myself without using my words. This is a plus to me because i'm a little shy when it comes to public speaking. I performed, many different dance styles including ballet like Misty Copeland. Misty Copeland was an African American female, the first principal dancer with the American ballet theater. I relate to her alot. One being my first encounter was being on a drill team. My second is growing up with my mother and siblings. Being a performer, black woman and living poverty alone you are set up for struggle. Misty is my motivation for change.
Misty Copeland qualifies as a black leader in my book because she is strong. Being the first black woman or man to do anything can be difficult because you often stand out just by the color of your skin. Being able to hold your head up high and not giving up when your faced with discrimination is a major plus. Misty Copeland is ambitious and filled with determination. She is a black woman that helps change the narrative of who and what a dancer, performer should look like.
Misty Copeland showed resilience through her strength to make it. She showed ambition by staying focused and seeing things through despite her encounters with discrimination. Misty Copeland provided change for many you African American young woman like myself because she impacted so many generations through the art of creativity and dance.
I have been dancing since I was about 5 years old. During my high school years I volunteered at my local recreation center giving back to the youth in my community and neighborhood that couldn't afford to go to dance school. I knew how if felt to not be financially able to do something you love. When I trained and learned under my school major, I provided others with a outlet. I pushed myself to be who I am today so that I don't become a product of my environment. I am more than where I come from, where I live. I thank you all for having this Platform to give students opportunities to get through college. I am grateful for any help that I can get. College is very expensive and the fact that there are people out there who care and help support black excellence are great leaders overall. I will continue to be great, and slowly climb my ladder to success with everything in me, just like Misty Copeland.
Thank You!

My name is Tah'Jaye Johnson, a young African American female. I live in philadelphia and face challenges every day. Being considered a low income family, mother receiving government assistance just to help feed and get medical care for me and my siblings. Drugs and crime everywhere, bullying. I remember being bullied for doing my school work, it made me want to not do anything but I continued to push myself. I am a high school graduate. I just graduated from Franklin Learning Center High School this past June of 2023 with honors, 3.6 GPA. I've been working really hard to be awarded scholarships to attend and remain in college.
I am now a freshman at Lincoln University. My fall tuition is covered, and i am continuing to reach out to those who are giving opportunities and blessing young adults like myself. I just want to focus on my grades and courses, not if my mom will be able to keep me enrolled. I helped my mom out a lot, I worked at Bjs my junior and senior year a couple hours out of the week just to pay for college application fees. I was determined to go to college. My dream is to be the first to graduate college. My mother and aunts didn't have this opportunity due to my grandmother not being financially stable to send them. I want to be that change.
My goal is to graduate with a health science degree, to become a physical therapist. Ive learned that the only way to make it in life is to become knowledgeable so that I am able to have a future career where I am not judged or stereotyped. If I was deemed as one of the winners, all of the money would go into my education. I would use to take the burden off my mother from having to take out so many loans, becoming more in debt and unstable because she really wants me to succeed. I would use for my dorm housing, books and tuition. College is very expensive. Where I come from it appears that life is set up for you to fail, especially being considered a colored woman. My skin color does not define me.
I love to give back. Before college, I volunteered at my local recreation center two days out of the week after school. I taught basic dance techniques and moves to children in my area. This was something very important to me. In high-school I majored in dance. I never had the opportunity to attend additional classes, programs like the other students because my mom couldn't afford it. Besides my dance courses at school, my mom helped me self train by watching YouTube videos and practicing so I could keep up. I know what it feels like to not be able to afford an activity or hobby that you like to partake in and that's why I enjoyed working with other children in my community.
Overall being Awarded this assistance, would help me to finish my freshman year or to start in a new semester. One less semester to worry about where and how my mother will struggle to find another loan. Please read my story and see me as a young lady with goals and not a charity case. I just want to be known for pushing myself to not be a product of my community. I want to be looked at as a positive influence to myself, family, younger siblings and my community. A great citizen. Thank you!

Hello, my name is Tah'Jaye Johnson. I am former high school senior from Franklin Learning Center High School in Philadelphia PA. I just graduated this past June of 2023 with a 3.6 GPA. I am a member of the dance and national honors society as well. I have two younger siblings that I hope follow my steps with furthering their education. I will be attending Lincoln University College this fall. I will be the first college graduate in my immediate family. I come from what is considered a low income household and community but I will not allow that to take away my drive and determination in becoming bigger then where I come from. I do not want to become I product of my community. I was a Dance major in high-school. I also took what I learned to volunteer at my local recreation center giving back to the youth by teaching basic dance techniques. Not everyone can afford performing arts programs so I like to put smiles on others faces. I know how it feels to have a passion for something but can't afford to get the proper training. I watched plenty of my classmates attend trips and other dance programs that I couldn't because my mom couldn't afford it. That just made me push harder to learn, not having the additional resources like others. I will be majoring in health and science for the next 4years if God is willing to get me through. Opportunities like the one you are providing will help students like me that need additional financial stability to make this happen. I want to become a physical therapist so that I am able to educate those in my community about the importance of physical health, mobility, healthy eating and lifestyles. I want to be able to make a difference by training others back to healthy movement. We need more caring and supportive people in this world. Showing growth and educating myself in this area will also add to my knowledge of the way the body moves and function. Although I want a career in physical therapy that does not take away my dream of opening a low income dance company. I figured having a good career will help me to be able provide scholarships to many in my community. My passion for dance will help to provide a positive business and outlet to the youth. A place where children can get off the streets, feel accepted and comfortable all while using their bodies to express themselves and their emotions. So when you ask what's my passion, my passion is piece, giving back, great mentoring, healthier lifestyles, creative dance and healthy body mobility. Thank you!
Liv For The Future Scholarship
Hello, My name is Tah'Jaye Johnson. A former high school senior graduate of 2023. I have worked really hard during my high school years so that I could graduate with honors and I did. 3.6 GPA. I couldn't be more proud of myself especially coming from a community where violence takes over. I will be attending Lincoln University College. I have a 4 year acceptance, majoring in health and science. I have always exemplify leadership. In school I showed leadership to my peers by not following crowds, completing my school work, getting good grades and attending school everyday. I am a member of the dance honors society. Creative expression, freedom of movement has always been apart of me. I very shy so performing arts is another outlet. In high school I majored in dance. I used what I've learned to exemplify leadership in my community. I volunteer at my local recreation center, teaching basic dance techniques to low income families with children that can't afford to attend performing arts dance companies because of financial strain. I know the financial struggle all to well because myself, siblings and mother are considered low income. My mom gets help from our government system to help with things like food and medical. I watched as my peers in school were able to attend performing arts schools or trips that I couldn't because my mom couldn't afford it. This is why giving back to the kids in my community felt like my purpose. I was able to teach what I learned to others. I was accepted into Franklin Learning Center High School because of my academics. Majored in dance and provided a outlet to others every Monday and Tuesday nights after school. I will exemplify leadership within my family. Being the first to attend and graduate college. Showing my siblings their is more to education and life to make a better living for themselves, and that we can be different and not a product of where we come from. I will exemplify leadership during college by keeping up my GPA. I will exemplify after graduating college by being an asset to my community within my career, neighborhood and family. I one day hope to be in a position where I can provide a scholarship award to those who need extra assistance because I can relate. The burden can be stressful. If awarded, it would help towards tuition, housing or something as simple as my books. I know that I am putting financial strain on my mother but I hope to change my family dynamic. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story. Leadership is apart of me.

Being a African American female alone, you come across many different obstacles. My name is Tah'Jaye Johnson and I'm currently a senior in high school. I will be graduating this month, June of 2023. I've worked really hard to keep a good GPA so that I could obtain college offers. I have been offered a deans list scholarship but I still have work to do to lighten up the cost of tuition. Going to college is expensive and just like you have mentioned many low income students don't get the opportunity. I have the opportunity I just need all the support possible to get through. I am the oldest of 3 siblings. My mom works really hard to care for us. The government also helps my mom with food and medical benefits so that we stay healthy. I'll be the first to actually go and stay on a college campus. I'm so excited. I been applying for scholarships to help take the burden off my mom. I want to be able to focus on my learning and not have to worry about if I have enough money to attend college. I have overcome adversity by staying focused. Some kids use to bully me because I did my work. They would say things such as I think I'm better then everybody. I really didn't understand that because I admired so many others. I am a dance major at FLC high school. Every Monday and Tuesday evening, I volunteer at my local recreation center. I teach basic dance Choreography to the young kids in my community. I enjoy giving back, I want to be a asset to my community. I know how it feels not to have or not to be able to afford certain things. I've watched many of the other dance majors attend extra dance training, programs and events that i was not able to due to financial issues. Being able to teach my younger peers, I get to see how I make their day, keep them off the street and make them feel wanted and supported. I have been excepted into many colleges but I'm staying close to home due to the state being able to award you better financial help in your home town verses going to another state. I will be attending Lincoln University this fall majoring in health and science. I plan to be a physical therapist. Another field where I can be an asset to my community. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be able to apply for extra assistance to make my new journey into early adulthood a smoother transition. I promise to continue to work hard and make something of myself, so I can make a difference in this world.
Sharen and Mila Kohute Scholarship
Hello, my name is Tah'Jaye Johnson. I'll be graduating this year, June of 2023 from high school. I have been accepted to many colleges, such as, Clark Atlanta, Shippensburg, Arcadia, Penn State, Kutztown, Drexel, North Folk, Lincoln and Neumann, just to name a few of them. I am proud to say I have worked really hard to keep my GPA up. I am a honorable deans list student. Acceptance day was May 1st and I have chosen to attend Lincoln University (HBCU). I've learned that staying in your state it's alot cheaper than going to school in another state. I am currently employed, I needed to make a little extra cash to pay for college application fees. College means alot to me. I do want to say that I do kind of have a mentor. My counselors at my school have been working with me and my mom to help assure I get to college. I have been feeling out many scholarship applications because the extra help is well needed. I am the oldest child of 3 children. I know my mom will have to take care me while I'm in school on top of my siblings still being home. I really want to help take some of the burden off of her. College is so expensive. I just want to make it. I've also learned that getting my college education I have a better chance of getting a good career. I don't want to become a product of my environment. My mom gets assistance from the government to help with food, medical for me and my siblings. When I graduate college I want to become a physical therapist. Break the generational cycle in my family by becoming something more than the average paying minimum wage job. I honor my love ones, but I know if I obtain the knowledge, their is more to life. I'll be majoring in health science. There are many subjects under that area of expertise. I want to help others. I currently volunteer at my local recreation center, teaching other children simple dance techniques. I'm currently a dance major in high school. Giving back is so important, especially because I know what it feels like not to have. For example, many of the students in my school attend other dance schools and get the extra experience and support to help their skill levels advance. I had to audition to be accepted in this major and I didn't really have the full blown experience like other dancers because my mother couldn't afford it. To this day when it's time to sign up many of the additional platforms the school offer, I'm not able to participate due to financial strain. I don't want that to be a issue for me in college. Any who that's why I enjoy teaching other children in NY neighborhood. As a physical therapist I would also be able to give back by teaching and informing the people in my community about the importance of physical health, mobility and functions so they are able to keep up with their everyday daily needs to be healthy in life. Overall this scholarship would help towards anything such as books, housing and my tuition. My family didn't really have the resources or help needed to become a college graduate. I think that's why it's so important for me to take this opportunity to become one of the first to graduate from a university. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be able to apply and be considered for additional support.
Charity's Alumnus Erudition Award
There are many careers under the health care industry. I am a high school senior with a 3.6 GPA. I will be attending my first year of college in the fall of 2023, majoring in Health science. Some of the contributions I believe I will be able to make in my community and after college graduation in the health care field to help others improve are things such as educating members of our community. Teaching safety procedures to avoid injuries and provide care intended to help the patient individually. I definitely will be honoring and respecting the choices of patients. Having a prevention plan and having continuous knowledge will help keep me up-to-date and intuned with the patients in my community. Working together with other Healthcare professionals and departments as a team I would be able to share my ideas, hear others ideas to collaborate and close gaps. Problem solving can also be a major technique to learn. Team work makes dreams work. I will ensure effective care and quality services by doing research to avoid using ineffective treatments. I want to teach patients how important it is to eat healthy, provide them with nutritional resources. I want to teach people the importance of being and staying active. Sleep is another very important self care. One major contribution I would like to be able to discuss for improvement is the high insurance and medical expenses. Change is needed all around the world. I live in a community where many people die or don't git the hospital because they just don't have the money to afford care. Budgets need to be aligned across many levels to implement change so people can. Get the care needed. It has to be funding somewhere even if adjustment is needed to other government benefits. I'm just a young black African American female that would like to see a healthier, striving community. I know that I can't change the world alone. I just want to try my best to be my best by attending college and getting the knowledge needed to become something. I'm particularly going to become a physical therapist and with that I still have a voice within the Healthcare industry. There are ways I can also improve the health of others by just overall teaching the importance of mobility functions and how to improve movement that help individuals succeed by completing the daily functions needed to survive. I really need this scholarship to help with books, my courses and housing. Thank you for this opportunity to apply for extra support.
Voila Natural Lifestyle Scholarship
Each entry I make to apply for scholarships I become more and more proud of the hardwork I put in to become better. Being able to look at the eligibility requirements and have the opportunity to apply because you meet characteristics feels really good. The only requirement I am not excited about is being considered low income, but then again why would someone with money and resources need the extra support. My mom trys really hard to take care of myself and siblings. My name is Tah'Jaye Johnson and I am a honorable high school senior from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I'm am the oldest of 3 children. I plan to attend college this fall of 2023. I graduate from high school this coming June. I currently have a 3.6 GPA pushing for a 4.0 before the end of the high-school, school year. This scholarship would help achieve some aspects of my future college goals. I need scholarships to help make college more affordable. This scholarship could help with books, support part of my dorm room housing or to help feed me while in school. My mom uses food stamps, I don't think I would be allowed to use them on campus. Being Awarded this scholarship helps me get one step closer to becoming a future physical therapist. Giving back to the community by educating individuals on the importance of physical health, eatting right and helping them to restore mobility. I currently give back to my community by teaching basic dance techniques and routines to the youth in my neighborhood, at my local recreation center. I started volunteering two days out of my week because I know how it feels to not be able to afford something you love to do. I love dancing! Dancing is my outlet and I wanted to be a mentor and outlet to others. Just like Voila Natural Life style, when I become a physical therapist I will be able to lead others, help them achieve their physical goals, health, happiness and prosperity achievements. I want to be a great asset to my community by growing and being a great citizen. I appreciate this opportunity to be reviewed for additional support to help towards my financial needs while in college. I have been accepted into several universities such as Lincoln, Norfolk, Morgan State, Kutztown, Shippensburg, Arcadia, Clark Atlanta, West Chester, Penn State and Neumann University. I just want to help lift the financial burden for my mom by applying and obtaining scholarship support. Thank you!
Margalie Jean-Baptiste Scholarship
My name is Tah'Jaye Johnson, a young African American female from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I am currently a high school senior. I will be graduating soon, June of 2023. I plan to further my education and attend college, majoring in health, physical and exercise science. Receiving a scholarship is very important to me. I have been applying to many different scholarships because I need the extra support to further my education. My mother is considered low income. She receives different types of government assistance to help feed and take care of me and my siblings. I know college will be a big financial strain and I want to help by earning extra sponsorships to help get me through. While I'll be away my mother still has my younger brother and sister to care for. I have overcome adversity in my life by having faith, staying disciplined, ambitious and determined to not be a product of my environment. I was once bullied for completing my school work, always called the teachers pet. One grade semester I didn't pass on purpose, just to excepted by peers. My mom and teachers talked to me and told me how important it was to be myself and that It's important to attract the right crowds and friends. I was told real friends wouldn't judge me and from that day on I continued to build my self confidence. I had to overcome the adversity of not always being accepted. Everyone thought I was just trying to be Ms. Perfect, when I was just being my shy and timid self. Now that I have been over social and emotional adversity for some time, I want to over come financial adversity by really just trying to make a impact in my life by being the first to attend and graduate college just like patrick. I greatly appreciate the many opportunities available to those of us students who need a helping hand. I have acknowledged my short comings and continue to push forward. I want to be mentally prepared to take college head on. I don't want to worry about how I'm going to pay for my next book, or if my housing is paid up. A clear head is necessary. I have learned that you have to be knowledgeable to obtain a career for a profitable income. I don't want to be viewed as living in less fortunate poverty. I want to be viewed for who I am and who I'm becoming.
Maverick Grill and Saloon Scholarship
Being considered maverick, is so me. My name is Tah'Jaye Johnson and I am a honorable high school senior. I am very independent and unique. I follow my own thoughts to make it through high school in a way that is just a little different from my peers. Many of the students don't attend school or complete work. I am up daily at 6am to attend school. I complete my work for me, to keep my GPA in good standing so that good colleges would be interested in me attending. I've been bullied before, for being different. Not different in a way do to fashion or because of the way that I look but because I am honest, trustworthy, shy, smart and passionate about my grades. I have been accepted into many different universities that my friends have not such as, Lincoln, Norfolk, Morgan State, Kutztown, Shippensburg, Arcadia, Penn State and Clark Atlanta. I try really hard to be productive and proactive. My personality, attributes and kindness is what makes me unique. I am one to look up to. A great mentor. During middle school i was awarded kipp star of the year. Which is an award for showing gratitude, grit, optimism and integrity. My commitment to being great it what makes me unique. I currently give back to my community by teaching basic dance techniques and routines to the youth in my community at a local recreation center. I help build confidence and self-esteem to some really great children. After graduating high school I plan to go to college for health, physical and exercise science. I want to graduate and become a physical therapist. As a physical therapist I will be able to give back to my community by helping them restore mobility. Educating individuals on the importance of physical health. I also have hopes that I would also be able to provide a scholarship to a special teen in need of assistance like myself. Being able to have these platforms and opportunities for families considered low income is just overall genuinely supportive. With giving back you help make a difference and I just want to be a great citizen. Physical therapist are apart of the health care field. They are just as important as other health care professionals. Making others knowledgeable may slow down the risk of preventable causes within the medical field. People need supportive people and I will be an encouragement.
Stacy T. Mosley Jr. Educational Scholarship
WinnerWhen it was time for me to start thinking of college, going to a HBCU was my passion. I have always wanted to be around my peers that look like me, watching each other prove educational growth among us. Many African Americans have less opportunities than others.
I have chosen to further my education because individuals within my family have not had the best opportunities, two, I have worked so hard during my grade school years. An honor student, always keeping my grades up. I like to think that I am smart. Why waste all my hard work by not furthering my education? I currently have a 3.6 GPA but im pushing to get a 4.0 before i graduate high school this coming June of 2023. My third reason is because I see how many families struggle, including my own due to lack of knowledge or not getting a good job. I would like to become a physical therapist so of course I need more than just a high school diploma. This scholarship means alot. I have been working really hard to obtain several scholarships to help me attend and finish my college journey. I have been accepted into several universities such as Lincoln, Norfolk, Penn State, Kutztown, Shippensburg, Arcadia, Clark Atlanta and West Chester. Being granted with a scholarship will help take the burden off of my family. When I go off to college I still have siblings that are left back home that my mother has to care for. This scholarship would help towards anything allowed such as tuition, books, housing and or food to survive. This scholarship will play a role in my career goals because it would give me the opportunity to get closer to my overall goal of graduating with my health science degree so that I am able to continue to be a great citizen of my community by helping others. I one day hope that I am fortunate enough to give back to a young teen looking to further their education. Getting into a good school is alot of hard work to find out in the end that you may not be able to attend due to financial reasons. Especially in low income homes like myself and family. I just want genuine support to help me succeed. I have a few months left to plead my reasoning, stories and goals to make life on campus just a little easier. I want to focus on my education without worrying if I'll make it to class the next day because of money. I know my mom will try and take out a loan but I really want to help her lower her payments by offering a helping hand by applying for scholarships. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
Lauren Czebatul Scholarship
When I think of volunteering, I think of those who are unable and in need of the extra support free of cost due to financial strain. Volunteering is being a helping hand to others. You never know how much a little extra help may effect someone and make their day. I volunteer because it makes a difference. I come from what is considered a low income household. My mother gets help from the government to feed me and my siblings along with some health care coverage and a few other things. I love to dance, dancing is my favorite way to express myself without speaking. I am often very shy and timid but speak volume through the movement of my body. I'm a high school honorable senior in the dance major program at Franklin Learning Center High School. I had to work really hard to have a successful audition to enter into the program along with good grades. I'm currently at a 3.6 but pushing for a 4.0. Many of the students are trained dancers and partake in many of the additional school support dance programs. Myself on the other hand have not been able to participate do to the additional cost. I continue to dance and learn from my daily teachers. They teach me many different routines and techniques. My mom works with me at home to help me perfect my craft. Being a student that is unable to attend many of the additional programs has made me want to give back to other youth dancers. I volunteer teaching basic dance techniques to the youth at my local recreation center two days out of the week. It feels good to provide a service that one can take, progress and show growth. Dancing helps build confidence and self-esteem. In my neighborhood attending programs at the recreation center also keeps many of the children off the streets. In my community the crime and violence rates are high so providing an extra curricula activity to the youth in my community feels really good. Volunteering has changed my mindset to be a little more understanding, caring and open-minded. Just because you can't afford what others can, does not make you any less useful as a citizen in your community. I need this scholarship to help take the burden off my family. Many of the members in my family didn't go to college because of how much it cost. I don't want that to be me. How can I be a honor student, pushing myself every day to higher my education to not be able to go to college because of the cost. I currently work after school hours to pay for college application fees. I am depending on Dean list scholarships, financial aid and other scholarships to get through college. Any additional support to help make my transition into the next step in my life is greatly appreciated and needed. Thank you for the opportunity to be able to apply for the additional help. I want to go to college and have been excepted into many universities. I plan to major in health and exercise science to become a physical therapist once I graduate. As a physical therapist I will still be a major impact to community.
Headbang For Science
My name is Tah'Jaye Johnson, I am from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I am the oldest of three children, currently a senior in high school with a 3.6 GPA pushing for a 4.0 before the semester ends. I'm currently a dance major, planning to enter into college majoring in physical health science.
My academic and professional goals are to maintain my grades to remain in the honors society and on the deans list at school. I prioritize my work because I know how important it is to be knowledgeable and educated if you want to get anywhere in life. My future professional goal is to become a physical therapist. Helping others in my community restore mobility so that they are able to take of themselves daily. I plan to educate clients so that they are able to understand how important it is to take care of your body, optimize their knowledge for safer outcomes when it comes to the physical aspect of science and how the body works.
I am need of this scholarship, many scholarships to be able to attend college. I have been accepted into several universities such as Lincoln, Norfolk, Morgan State, Kutztown, Shippensburg, Arcadia, Penn State, Clark Atlanta and Neumann University because of my grades, however college is expensive. My mother is considered low income, receiving government assistance to help pay for things such as medical and food to feed me and my siblings. The cost of food and living has increased. I'm currently working after school just to help pay for college application fee's. I know my mother will struggle. How is she going to pay for school, provide for me while still taking care of home and my siblings. I work really hard to keep up with grades to make something out of myself to possibly not have the chance due to the cost to become educated. I speak very passionate about my issues because it concerns me to be in a poverty where you have to fight for your education. I want to attend school and I pray that I'll make it. I know I can because I'm smart, good grades, honor student. I know my mother will send me to college because she believes in me but I also know it will be a burden.
As of right now i'm paying for college with faith. I'm depending on my grades for Dean list scholarships, I'm writing essays in hopes of receiving extra assistance and financial aid. My last option is to have my mother take out alone. I figured if I could make it through school and graduate with my physical health science degree, I would be able to have career making enough money to help my mom make payments.
Being a dance major opens your mind and heart to many different music genres. I am often a very shy and timid young woman. Listening to music and dancing allows me to express myself without speaking. Heavy metal music gets my blood pumping. I feel so energetic, my dance moves become sharp, quick and free. If anyone is ever in a bad mode heavy metal music will definitely uplift their spirits. Having the genre of rock music being largely known is powerful to many even with some of the negative feedback and reviews. Being a creative performer you need music to express many different emotions. One music genre does not help everyone in the same way so you want to be thankful for artist like Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford and many more bands that are providing music that releases stress to many individuals around the world.
I ask that you read about me with an open heart and a willingness to make a dream come true. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be able to apply for major college assistance.
Phoenix Opportunity Award
Getting a college education is major, a experience that many don't get to get due to financial strain, poor grades or not having the educational knowledge to follow through with trying to enroll. Many of my family members didn't attend college because college is so expensive. My parents really can't afford for me to go either but I have been pushing myself to apply for scholarships to help lead me to future success.
I have worked really hard in school to keep my grades up to be able to get into a historical black college. I have been accepted to a few and I am so proud of myself. I also have family that started school but never finished. I want to be the first to take a full ride through a college experience so that i am able to obtain a great opportunity in my future career as a physical therapist.
Going to college is a dream, especially in low income areas of the world. I am from West Philadelphia. I am the oldest of 3 children. Being a first generation college student influences me to push harder, be determined, motivated and independent. I should not have a disadvantage because of where I grew up or being considered low income. I want to follow in my own footsteps be different from what is known to me. Many of my teachers helped me apply for college and gave me the resources in steps to follow through one at time, from applying to school to completing my financial aid request and sending off my transcripts. I also have been working after school hrs to pay college application fees. I'm on the road to success and a brighter future with the help of financial aid, scholarships and hopefully acceptable loans. Thanks so much for this extra opportunity to receive an possible extra assistance. Students like myself appreciate platforms like this to have faith and hope.

David G. Sutton Memorial Scholarship
Just like David H Sutton. I have had many coaches that have made an impact in my life but only that is very, very special. I started dancing when I was about six to seven years old. My first performing arts school was chatel price in philadelphia. I learned the basics of ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop and lyrical. My coach was proud and very supportive. When my mother could not afford to keep up with dance expenses, I moved on to a small company, World Wide Unique Star. Ms. Stephanie taught me to have confidence, to be free and enjoy myself while dancing. I performed at so many major events such as the Harlem Globetrotters, Philadelphia 76s games and several known stars. I audition to get in Franklin Learning High school, where I then met Ms. Dana. Such an amazing woman. I was so happy to have be given the opportunity to attend this high school. On top of having a passion for dance, I had to have good grades. I pushed myself really hard and Ms. Dana makes sure I stay on track. We cover not only dance but we study historical performers, styles and forms of dance. Ms. Dana is a true blessing and a part of who I am be coming as a African American young woman. My overall ultimate inspiration, coach and mentor who has pushed, provided, trained and supported me is coach mom. My mother who is also a Dance instructor. I attend her hip hop dance company two days a week. She practices with me on the side for other shows, school performances.etc The Choreography that was performed to get accepted into high school was taught by my mother. My mother has a heart like no other, just like Mr. Sutton. She also teaches the youth and at times when there is nowhere to practice, she opens up our own home to the children in our community to practice. My mom danced since she was young as well and this is how I became very motivated about dancing. I am often very shy but while dancing I am free to express my feelings and thoughts without speaking. Dancing is a art and sport. My mother always pushed me to be at my best. My dancing is growing, I'm improving every day. As I take on my next step into college, I plan to join the performing arts team as well and of course coach mom, will always have my back to help train and audition for a university team. My mother keeps me focused. My mother as my dance coach has empowered me, taught me to listen, work through challenges and how to be overall productive. I exemplify traits to Dave because I am somebody. I am also very loyal and dedicated just like him. I strive for perfection. My calling for now will be to attend college, graduate and have a successful career.
Gary Robert Schloss Memorial Scholarship
College is very expensive. I have many members in my family that are not able to higher their education due to not being able to afford it. I believe that this will also be my struggle. I am the oldest sibling of 3 children. My mom gets help from many government assistance programs to help provide for us. I'm a young African American female from philadelphia. I pride myself in trying to not become a product of my environment. I attend school every day. I study hard to keep my GPA up. I've even been bullied just for doing my school work by other students. Being considered a low income family and watching my mom work really hard to provide for me and my siblings, I've learned that money and knowledge is the key to over all success. My mom often worked really hard and we still ran out of food. There were still high bills. I attend Franklin Learning Center HighSchool. I had to audition to get into their dance program. I worked really hard because on top of my education, dance is also a passion for me. I self taught myself just to get in. My mom didn't have the money for me to train at a performing arts school like other students, however with my grades and alot of practice I was accepted into my high school. That was a very proud moment for me. I feel like I deserve to go to college, and with an opportunity, I'm sure I can succeed. I teach dance 2 days out of the week at my local recreation center just to give back to my community and youth. I know how it feels to not be able to afford things that will help you grow. If I won this scholarship this would be some of a weight lifted off me and my mother's shoulders. I would get closer to having a chance to attend college and it would be less of an income burden on my mother. I currently work a few hrs after school to take care of somethings such as clothes that I want and sneakers, that way my mom can buy for two instead of three. If I am able to attend college I know my mom has to support me and my siblings back home. I was accepted into many great schools such as Lincoln University, Norfolk University, Clark Atlanta, West Chester, Shippensburg, Morgan State, Kutztown University and so many more. To be accepted in so many schools, I feel like they see me, they see all my hard work and to know that my education will depend on how much money my mom can afford makes me worry if I'll even make it college. I have a plan to become a physical therapist, I want to help others get better and recover. This scholarship opportunity is an amazing opportunity. Thank you so much for just being able to be a candidate. Anything helps, I am a deserving student. This scholarship will be a great blessing to me, I really want to go to school. I currently have 3.6 GPA I'm working really hard to make that a 4.0 by the end of the school year so at least if I don't make it to college I can continue to say I graduated high school with high honors. This scholarship would be a start to my life so that when I am older and graduate college, I'll Have that knowledge and career that will allow me to bless another young low income household.
Cazares Family Trade Scholarship
My major obstacle I had to overcome is not being a product of my school and community. I am a young African American female and where I live in philadelphia there are many children with bad behavior, don't attend school, early drop outs, bullies and more. I was once bullied because I actually did my work in school. One other obstacle is being the oldest child having two younger siblings. With my mom working I had to sometimes care for them, help them with homework on top of trying to complete my own school work. Life for me has been OK. My mom has always been eligible for many government assistance programs to help us get by. I couldn't be more proud of myself to try and create my own path by attending college to better help myself and family. I have studied really hard to overcome getting bad grades. My GPA is very important to me. Each day I try really hard to keep up the good work. I'm still trying to overcome fear. I'm very shy and timid, I often like to be alone. I really enjoy dancing, this is my current major in high school. By dancing it helps me come out of my comfort zone just a little because there is no talking. Dancing is a creative form of expression, I often feel free. During school I get to learn many different techniques. I had to audition to get into my high school. You also have to have good grades not many children are eligible and this is why after school two days out of the week I volunteer to teach kids around my own age different dance techniques at my local recreation center. Its a form of giving back. I know how it feels to not have or push myself to get assistance to better myself. In conclusion overcoming my obstacles I believe I'm still working on somethings. I know college is going to be an obstacle for myself and mother. My mom would have to take care of me while also taking care of my siblings back home. My goal is to really put effort into grants and scholarships so that my mom won't struggle to much. I also don't want to have to leave school due to my mom not being able to afford it. College is very expensive but I believe I worked to hard in high school to not be able to get a chance to walk my own path. I want to be educated and getting a scholarship is one step closer to my goal.
