Hi Everyone! My name is Tahirah. I am currently a junior majoring in Computer Science at Florida International University, with a strong passion for web development and software engineering. I have experience building full-stack applications using the MERN stack and Vite, and I'm particularly interested in application development and Entrepreneurship. I aspire to be a full-stack software engineer after completing my bachelors degree. In the future, I would create my own tech start up that specifically caters to serving the Caribbean community, particularly the one's that still fall into the 3rd world category, so that the countries can be more developed and have more job opportunities. I founded a student support group called MediCode, which helps over 30 computer science students test and critique portfolio projects. Beyond this, I am excited about exploring the intersection of technology and cybersecurity, and after completing my Bachelors degree, I plan to pursue an MBA with a concentration in Cybersecurity with the long term goal of becoming a cybersecurity analyst. As an immigrant, I have always valued the opportunity to pursue an education and use it as a tool to uplift both myself and my community. I am proud to be the first in my family to attend college! My biggest motivators are my 3 younger siblings and my parents. My on-campus involvement includes clubs and organizations such as Women in Computer Science, INIT FIU, Caribbean Student Association, Jamaican Student Union and Code Crunch.
