Bio

Being a single mother I’m a role model for my kids and I chose nursing because I’m very passionate in helping people. One of my goals is to open a health facility where everyone can get help no matter of having insurance or not. I want to create a place where everyone is equally treated. My dream of being a nurse started from early childhood but I actually applied to nursing school after I found out my dog has epilepsy. The desire to learn and be able to help my dog took me to this career.

There are many reasons why I would like to be a Nurse, ever since I was a child I was dreaming of becoming a Nurse, I remember me always playing hospital with the neighborhood kids and I was always the doctor or the nurse, never the patient. I hated being a patient because I was so afraid of doctors. Then when I grew up I would see my aunt going to work with nice hospital scrubs and I remember how I was looking at her and listening to different hospital stories, how I was just dreaming and imagining myself with scrubs, helping people, giving injections, medications, saving lives…etc. At the age of 16 going on 17, I remember applying for Yerevan State Medical University in Armenia. I took the exams and got in but unfortunately my father did not let me continue as he was not comfortable with his daughter taking night shifts. He wanted me to choose another profession. It was very hard to give up something that you love with all your cells but I had no choice. At the age of 27 I already had children on my own when I came to the United States and I wanted to start my career in the medical field and be an inspiration for my kids, show them that I can be a nurse and that I can fulfill my dream. In the beginning I was not secure enough to apply because of my language boundaries. I started to improve my English first so I went to community colleges taking ESL classes. 7 year passed when I was comfortable applying for a nursing school and now I am here applying. As I am a single mother, I am the role model for my kids not only as mother but also as father and first of all I want them to be proud of me second of all I want to be able to help as many people as I can. One of my goals is to build a place, a facility where I can provide help to all the people in need for no cost, where they can finally get medical assistance and be treated equally no matter if they have insurance, money or not. I believe this is what makes a perfect nurse, the ability to put your patients first, being kind, caring, being problem solver… etc. I can see all these characteristics in me and I will do my best to show all that to the people around me.

When I first came to US my dream was was to became a nurse and I worked hard to achieve my language goals in order to apply for nursing. Now I’m a nursing student and a single mother with two kids. I hope to became the best role model to my kids by helping people in a medical field by becoming the most caring nurse. I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and pay for my institution.
