Bio

I am a Teach For America alumna, where I taught 5th grade and kindergarten English Language Learners. I currently teach the sweetest and most intelligent 5 year olds (online at the moment), and am SO sad to be leaving them. I will be at Vanderbilt in the fall to continue to advocate for my Title I students by obtaining my Masters in Human Development Counseling. My life goal is to be a school counselor so that I can advocate for educational equity and keep students safe and successful. My school's current counselor does not speak Spanish, and I do. When my students experience a traumatic event or neglect, I have to fulfill the school counselor role. It is a privilege and I have learned so much, as I have had to take students to their own parents' funerals, hold students' hands as their parents are deported, and call Child Protective Services on behalf of neglected and abused students whom I love as my own family. My passion absolutely lies in education and students' well-being, and I cannot wait to be in school where I will be learning from some of the best professors and diverse colleagues.
