Life has not always been easy for me due to the fact that I was raised by a single mother and I have a twin sister. My mom has never really been financially stable. I moved around a lot growing up bouncing from home to home. My biological father was never really a part of my life because he is addicted to drugs and has a lot of kids. My grandma raised my sister and I until we were 5 while my mom was still trying to figure out her life. When I was in high school I had to work in order to help pay some bills. During the pandemic I was working almost 60 hours a week while trying to balance out school in order to make ends meet. I am currently in debt in college and I am working full time hours now in order to help pay for my tuition and living expenses. My mom lost her job during the pandemic which forced my sister and I to have to pick up more shifts at work. My mom currently has a part-time job which she needs to pay bills. My mom has never been too involved in my life which forced me to have to grow up fast in order to be there for my sister. I would have to cook, clean, make sure she did her homework and that she was okay even though we are the same age. I feel like I am her parent. I would have to walk to the store sometimes just to buy food to cook us dinner. It was hard for me to keep my grades up in high school because I was trying to balance so much. I plan on being a Nursing major so that I can help others. I never want to see anyone suffer and I love to help out when I can. I am in love with the medical field. I originally wanted to be a doctor but then I realized that they do not spend as much time with patients and actually getting to know them. I want to build close relationships with my patients so that we can have a bond and they feel comfortable allowing me to help nurse them back into health.I also plan on volunteering at least once every other week at a local food pantry when I can save up enough money to buy a car.
