Bio

When I was twenty, my future employer asked me where I would be in five years. Before that, another employer had asked the same question. My answer was always, "Back in school. To finish my education and make a difference." It's been five years and I've accomplished things that people had always told me I couldn't. After my first full year at Green River College, I was awarded an academic scholarship that not only paid my tuition but sustained my housing. After hard work and a lot of sacrifices, I was accepted into my dream university, the University of Puget Sound. At the University of Puget Sound, I am catering toward the learning of languages and culture, and eventually, move on to a Ph.D. in Linguistics at graduate school. To me continuing my education is everything, and despite all of the challenges I have faced, it has always been finances that interrupt my dreams. I work part-time as an English writing and reading tutor at Green River College assisting hundreds of students each year. Yet, as times grow harder my income from my job can no longer support myself or the mini family I have begun to create. Being awarded your scholarship will not only remove the stress of paying for college but will allow me to continue helping my partner with our living expenses and live a more peaceful life.
