Hello, there!
My name is Suleitha Nunez, and I am an illustration student based in Florida. My art journey thus far has been a long but fun one. Although I've enjoyed the creative side of the art field, I am currently working on stepping into its medical branch so as to one day become a Certified Medical Illustrator. Right now, I am busy achieving my BA in Art Studies with a minor in Biological Sciences through Arizona State University Online. However, my educational journey will not stop there. My next step is to achieve my Masters at Augusta University. I know that these goals are difficult and expensive ones, but I also know that I am capable. And it will all pay off in the future.
In the meantime, anything I can gather up from scholarships are blessings that are greatly appreciated.
My hobbies on the side are drawing for myself, nail designing, self-care, beauty-care, journaling, exercising, and reading. Every once in a while, I'll get a wild hair and go out to have an adventure with a buddy. Although I'm Puerto Rican, I grew up in a solely English-speaking household, so I'm teaching myself Spanish through Duolingo with a current streak of 328 days. I also hope to one day visit Japan with some friends and experience the tourist culture there. Wish me luck!

Harvest Achievement Scholarship
Hello!
My name is Suleitha Nunez, and I am an illustration student based in Florida. To start off, my end goal is to become a Certified Medical Illustrator. What they do is visually explain anatomical processes to audiences such as those in or studying for the medical field, hobbyists using educational apps, or those in juries wanting a palatable explanation during court cases. I will first need my BA in Art Studies and a minor in Biological Sciences. This will allow me to take a graduate program at a medical school specifically tailored toward those wanting to be medical illustrators, and I currently have my sites set on Augusta University in GA. After graduating there, I will then be able to immediately take the certification test. All of these steps are further assurances for employers when hiring me. This niche field is plentiful in job opportunities not affected by the AI situation because these illustrators need to be extremely precise in their work. I feel so much more fulfilled in my life knowing that my art pieces will be helping others; in my vision, I see myself providing visual instructions to other medical professionals to study life-saving or life-easing processes.
I have maintained accountability throughout my life by frequently reflecting on my actions and contemplating how they will affect others' futures as well as my own; I have always been an introvert who thinks about things like this. For example, one reason I want to complete this education as fast as I can is that I would like to immediately jump into the work field, feeling reassured that my salary will be a sustainable and reliable form of income on my own. My grandmother- a beautiful, wonderful, hard-working Christian woman- has gone to the moon and back for me while growing up and, honestly, even now while I am still in school. Thankfully, I am more on my feet than I was in the past, but I truly think the world of her. And despite her being as healthy as an Ox (I thank God for that), I acknowledge that she is getting up there at the age of 72 and has been deserved to relax and be taken care of. I would like to be the granddaughter who takes up that responsibility. So while I am juggling daily life with a minimum-wage job at a restaurant, I am putting my best foot forward toward my online education with her in mind.
Taking my education seriously hasn't been fruitful just yet, but thinking of my responsibilities and how I want to care for my family has helped me overcome my extreme fear of driving. I absolutely will consider that an achievement, but while I can't list any other specific successes, I can confidently say that I am well on my way towards success; I just need to give it time, and while I am a bit impatient, that time will pass by its own means, regardless.
Any form of scholarship funds I can gather together during the meantime and put towards my education is a blessing that will be fully appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hello! My name is Suleitha Nunez, and I am an illustration student based in Florida. I believe it is crucial we understand ourselves and the world around us because it will allow anyone willing to learn how to better care for one another... And learning is just fun! I find myself feeling so fortunate that we live in a time with our amount if modern technology and such passionate science and medical-focused minds striving to research solutions for our modern problems. And I can't wait to jump into the fray and play my role, as well!
My end goal is to become a Certified Medical Illustrator. What they do is visually explain the anatomical process to audiences such as those in or studying for the medical field, hobbyists using educational apps, or those in juries wanting a palatable explanation during court cases. Techniques used in this field to aid in us conveying our educational goals range from traditional mediums such as graphite pencils, charcoal, and markers to digital mediums such as the industry standards Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3d software like Maya. Even 3D printing is extremely useful in an educational environment.
I will first need my BA in Art Studies and a minor in Biological Sciences which I am currently working on at ASU Online. This will allow me to take a graduate program at a one of the four medical school in the United States like Augusta University specifically tailored towards those wanting to become medical illustrators. After graduating from that, I will then be allowed to immediately take the certification test. All of these steps are further assurances for employers when hiring me.
This niche field is plentiful in job opportunities not affected by the AI situation because these illustrators need to be extremely precise in their work. To be in this field would allow me to feel so much more fulfilled in life knowing that my art pieces will be helping others. In my vision, I see myself providing visual instructions to other medical professionals to study new life-saving or life-easing processes; I love the thought of contributing to someone’s physical betterment. This could be applied so many different medical procedures, especially ones that still currently being studied! However, this entire journey is pretty expensive. I will be working while in school, saving up however much I can because that master’s program is a pretty penny in itself. But however much I can achieve through scholarships is a huge blessing that will be greatly appreciated.

I, myself, come from a low-income household, and the only reason I am able to attend my current college, ASU Online, is solely from government loans and federal grants. I completely understand exactly what the struggle is like; I am a first-generation Puerto Rican college student that is attempting to complete her studies while looking for work. I've had to deal with the knowledge that because I've been struggling trying to afford my own education, my mother has attempted to dissuade my brother from pursuing a higher education because of our low-income household and my struggles. I thank God that he hasn't let that stop him, and he's putting in the effort to work, save up, and go to school for his own sake.
And when I land where I'm trying to and I complete the whole of my education, I will finally be financially stable. The field I am trying to get into is a safe one with a close-knit association of other medical illustrators. However, this entire journey is pretty expensive. I will be working while in school, saving up however much I can because that master’s program is a pretty penny in itself. But however much I can achieve through scholarships is a huge blessing that will be greatly appreciated and returned in the form of scholarships provided through here once. Because no other young adult from a low-income situation should have to feel stuck in that lifestyle; I want to be the one to give them a chance just like how I wish someone would give me one.
