Bio

Hi, my name is Sudi Hussein and I am a nursing student currently enrolled in school. I am the first generation in my family to attend college, and I am determined to make the most of this opportunity. I was born and raised in a refugee camp in Kenya and came to the United States when I was 13 years old. Despite the challenges I faced as an immigrant, I have always been passionate about the healthcare field and helping others. In addition to my studies, I also work part-time and help run errands for my family, as my dad has been ill for many years and his medical condition has worsened over time. Despite these additional responsibilities, I am dedicated to my studies and am determined to become a successful nurse. I love taking care of others and educating them on how to improve their overall health and lead a healthy lifestyle. I believe that my personal experiences and dedication to my education make me a strong candidate for a scholarship. I am grateful for the opportunity to further my education and make a positive impact on the lives of my patients. Thank you for considering me for a scholarship.

Over the past year, I have grown in my ability to handle and cope with stress and anxiety. This personal growth was inspired by the global pandemic, which brought on unexpected challenges and changes that required me to adapt quickly and effectively. At the beginning of the pandemic, I found myself struggling with feelings of fear and uncertainty, which in turn led to an increase in my stress and anxiety levels. To cope with this situation, I started to take time to reflect on my feelings and emotions, and started to search for new ways to manage stress and anxiety. I started to practice mindfulness, meditation and deep breathing exercises, which helped me to stay present in the moment and to focus on the things that I have control over. Furthermore, I started to learn more about the power of positive thinking and I tried to adopt a more positive outlook on life. I also joined a support group for people who are affected by the pandemic which helped me to connect with others and to share my thoughts and feelings. What changed for me as a result of these experiences was my ability to handle stress and anxiety in a more effective way. I learned that it is possible to find inner peace and tranquility even in the midst of chaos and turmoil, and that the key is to focus on the things that we have control over and to adopt a positive mindset. On the other hand, what remained the same for me is my passion for making a positive impact in the world, and my desire to help others. I am still the same person who is committed to making a difference in the lives of others, and I believe that this has been a powerful source of strength and resilience for me during this difficult time. In conclusion, I have learned that through my journey of self-discovery, that personal growth comes from the ability to adapt to change, to look for new ways to cope with stress and anxiety and to maintain a positive outlook on life. I learned that it is possible to find inner peace and tranquility even in the midst of chaos and turmoil, and that the key is to focus on the things that we have control over and to adopt a positive mindset. I believe that this experience has helped me to become a more resilient and self-reliant person, and I am excited to continue to grow and learn throughout my journey.

Dr. Ifeoma Ezebuiro Ezeobele Africans in Nursing Scholarship
To me, life is unusual in that it exposes you to the qualities you want while maintaining everything just out of reach. We as humans appear to extract some understanding or truth from each encounter as we develop and go through good and negative life experiences. If I talk about the living experience, it has greatly inspired me to be a nurse. My mother has cared for me, my siblings, and my father since I can remember. My father is a sickly old gentleman. He's still unwell, and my mother and I still care for him. His health deteriorated, and I worked hard to keep my professional manner. When I was extremely distraught, I experienced firsthand how difficult it is to make selections. My friends and peers who encouraged me have always been in my heart. My mother was passionate about helping others. I don't imagine my mother ever turned down somebody who required her help. I recall family people from both sides of the family phoning my mother when they were sick or injured. She enjoyed assisting others, and she appreciated supporting others. I believe that a person is born with the qualities that make them a good nurse. That is why I have decided to pursue nursing as a career. Selecting ever to become a nurse is not something I was obliged to do. I've wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. My interest in nursing and ambition to become a nurse arises primarily from my desire to serve others. I want to be a nurse since it appears to be one of the most fulfilling jobs. It is hugely empowering to make a difference in someone's life daily. My words, actions, and attitude have the potential to help someone recover, which I will remember for the rest of my life. Nursing is one of the few professions that benefit you and others. It's a fascinating, ever-changing, diverse job that allows you to learn something new daily. I believe the work of a nurse entails a great deal of responsibility, and I am confident that the skills I possess will enable me to become a highly skilled and capable member of the nursing team after I have completed my degree. I wanted to be a nurse because I have a genuine passion for caring for people and teaching them how to live healthier lives and make better lifestyle choices.
