I am a lifelong learner. Currently enrolled to begin a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Construction Management. My goal with this degree is to prepare myself for the future as I look to flourish and grow in my career. Advancement takes time, knowledge, and opportunity. The scholarships I earn here will be put toward adding to my knowledge base so that as the opportunities arise, I can move up the ladder in my career and reach back and help the next person.

Bold Great Books Scholarship
The Spy by Clive Cussler. It has everything in the book. Crime, espionage, murder, action, adventure. It is well written and the theme is WWII based. The novel follows a private detective in an era before the FBI was founded. He uncovers a plot by the Japanese to sabotage the United States Navy before it can become the dominant naval force it is today. Overall, I love the era, the writing, and the theme of the novel.
Bold Deep Thinking Scholarship
The largest problem facing the world is people's inability to communicate and listen to one another. People do not listen to learn; instead, people listen in order to respond. Learning from one another, understanding someone's position, and compromising to make the world a better place for both sides of an argument... ideas that have become radical. The political landscape of the United States has taken such strong strides toward animosity that people will not even listen to the other side's argument. Someone cannot finish a thought without being labeled, metaphorically crucified, and canceled. People, as a whole it turns out, agree on the majority of issues. There are only a handful of issues within this world that divide people. Yet, these handful of issues are preventing people from listening, understanding, learning, and communicating. The world needs to learn how to communicate. The world needs to learn how to speak and more importantly how to listen.
President Theodore Roosevelt used the phrase "speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." It means to listen and think. "Speak softly," listen more than you speak, and think! for yourself. "Carry a big stick" means to be decisive in your actions, it also hints at the United States' strength as a country. But the catch phrase for President Roosevelt's foreign policy applies as much today as ever before. Listen to your neighbors and speak softly. Learn from one another. Think critically about the world around you. People have more in common than different. Communication is an active skill, both as the speaker and the listener; as the writer and the reader. Hear your neighbors, we may be able to save the world if we listen.
