Bold Technology Matters Scholarship
Deep Learning is a technology using multiple neural networks to simulate brain-like processing. We have seen the advent of deep learning in spaces such as facial recognition, language processing, and automated driving. However, the application of deep learning in real estate is accurately judging a property's values given its attributes. Deep learning is currently emerging in real estate, one example of this is Redfin. Redfin allows users to put houses on the market but does not provide property evaluations, it is more of a list of houses at proposed costs. Not the precise value an appraiser would suggest.
Deep learning contains the possibility to provide equitable and affordable housing to consumers using the newest form of technology. Using multiple layers of neural networking we can capture an accurate assessment of the properties just by using pictures of the property alone. This provides the seller a one-stop-shop to get an assessment, put it on the market, and be matched with a buyer from one point of access. Deep learning brings versatility and precision to the real estate field. That is a technology I am excited about.
