Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie and I am currently employed at Broward Medical Center located in Fort Lauderdale, FL as an Ultrasound Technician. I am the first in my family to get a college degree. I come from a Cuban-family decent, where they had very little education. One thing that makes me proud to be born in the US is the ability to have options and create a better life for myself and my family. After graduating from Nova Southeastern University with my Bachelors in Medical Sonography life was difficult. I graduated in December of 2017. By February 2018 I had obtain enough credentials to apply for jobs. Interview after interview, I kept receiving emails that other applicants were better suited for what they were looking for. It was hard to get a job due to the lack of work experience, and although I was prepared for the hard work that comes in the beginning phases of post-grad, it wasn't easy for those to see the worth of new graduates. It was discouraging at times but I knew I did not sacrifice all that I did, to miss out on an opportunity. I kept trying and finally November 2019, I interviewed and someone gave me a chance, although I did not have any work experience. Since then I have been employed at my current job. I have gained trust from our radiologist and even help run the department. Even when things don't seem to work out the way we envision, the end result is way better than what we imagined.
