Bio

I am passionate about accomplishing what is important to me and doing it to the best of my ability. This is why I am currently accepted into an accelerated nursing program to further advance my career goals after taking a gap year to adjust to being married, and then another unexpected gap year to adjust to being a new mother of twin girls. It has been a lot of blood sweat and tears to get me to this point with many doubts along the way. Now that I have proven to myself that I can do this, I am working to find ways to afford it.

Becoming a parent to twin girls in October 2020 was a shock to my new husband and I to put it simply. I was headed on a career path toward medical school when I first met my husband and then decided med-school was not the route for me. I decided to complete my bachelors in Chemistry before getting married with the goal of finding a nursing school and beginning my career in the medical field after completing nursing school. Summer of 2020 I was all set to begin three summer classes to complete my prerequisites for the nursing program I had found. Then I found out I was pregnant with twins and with uncertainties about complications with the pregnancy I decided to only take one class that summer. Being a new mom to twins and moving across the county shortly there after to my husbands new duty station was stressful and exciting all at the same time. I still had a strong desire to accomplish my goal of nursing school but I now understood that that goal would be much more difficult than I had originally imagined. With the much needed support of my husband I resigned up for the classes I needed to complete for my nursing school application, and I successfully applied and got accepted to the program of my choice. This journey to pursue nursing has not been easy and it has challenged me in more ways that I could imagine after becoming a mom. I am frequently filled with guilt and doubt about if this is the right decision for me and for my family and especially for my girls. Time and time I come back to the fact that I believe it is important to continue to push myself to do my best and accomplish my goals. I also firmly believe that I am setting a good example for my girls that with hard work and dedication they too can accomplish their goals even when unexpected life events happen. Once I complete my degree in nursing my goal is to gain experience working in hospitals, pay off my student loans as quickly as possible, and be able to financially support my family while my husband transitions out of the military and into the goals he desires to accomplish.
