      Chappell Roan Superfan Scholarship
Chappell Roan's music has impacted my life by making me sure that I am loved how I am. In the song "My Kink is Karma", Chappell sings about a relationship with a person who left her and brought Chappell down with them. I can relate to this song because of my reputation. Almost everybody I know thinks that I am constantly spreading rumors about people. In reality, however, this is not true. A little while ago, I was accused of spreading a rumor about someone else in the Marching Band, and I could do nothing but stay quiet and be berated. I am a very loud person, but I would never start a rumor like the one I was accused of. After that, I didn't speak for almost a full hour and thought entirely of how that person couldn't ever make enough apologies for me to forgive them. All that I know is that if they ever do that again, I will not stay quiet. When I first heard this song, I was crocheting on my bed listening to The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. It turned on, and I looked up to see what it was. The title intrigued me, so I kept it on, and was quickly swept away. My favorite lyric of the song is "If karma's real, hope it's your turn." This is because of how much I can understand what Chappell is going through. If I were her, I would want exactly what she wants: revenge. Revenge for the person who ruined my life-- to make them feel how I felt. I support Chappell Roan's music career because I believe that she will help to influence the next generation of teenagers in a good way. Much like Lady Gaga influenced the people of the 2010s, I believe that Chappell will contribute a lot to the music industry and help to encourage people to be themselves and not let people tell them how to be. I believe that she has the power to influence others because she is just like them. Although my situation is not very similar to hers, I can see why she needed to write the song for her record. She needed a vent to handle her emotions, and hopefully it worked. I hope that you consider my application. If I do win it, I am going to put it towards my tuition for education at a local career center. Thank you.
      1989 (Taylor's Version) Fan Scholarship
The first time I had ever heard Taylor Swift was when I was about four years old. The song "I Knew You Were Trouble." came onto the radio and I think I was immediately in love. Throughout my life, I have had a long journey with Taylor Swift. Whether it was "Mean", "Welcome To New York", or even "Back to December", I have always had a deep fondness for her songwriting and vocals. Although I did have a falling out in about 2018, Lover got me back on track really easily, and I haven't strayed since. If my year so far had a soundtrack, it would be "Out Of The Woods (Taylor's Version)." This is because of how much I can relate this song to my life. Sometimes I wonder if I'm ever going to make it out of a difficult situation, and I can't even see the end in sight. This song helps to put me in a good mood and also encourages me to keep pushing forward in times of trouble. Whenever I hear this song, the beginning beats and vocals put me in a good mood immediately. My favorite lyric from the song is "the rest of the world was black and white, but we were in screaming color." because of how much I relate to being so deeply in love with somebody, but things just don't end up working out, or the feelings aren't reciperocated. The next song on the list would be "All You Had To Do Was Stay." This is because its synthy chorus just gives me the drive to complete any work I need to get done. It's really upbeat, and that helps to put me in a good mood and keep it for the rest of the day. The lyrics help to motivate me to be a better person; one unlike the person the song was written about. I relate to this song a lot because the same situation happened to me: I wanted someone who didn't want me, and then they eventually changed their mind about it all. This was difficult for me, but I am over it all now. Both of these songs have given me the ambition to succeed and do well in academics, as well as in my personal ventures. I have learned many new things over the past couple of years, and I am excited to keep going down that path. I'm exhilarated to keep moving forward, just like these songs will continue to keep influencing more people on their journeys. I hope that I can grow to be the person that I see in myself and that I can continue to grow emotionally and mentally. Thank you for considering my application.
