The Quiet Girl Called Smilie If I had to share something unique about myself, I would say it is the fact that I have always been the quiet one—but somehow I still managed to earn a nickname that describes the exact opposite. Growing up, I was usually the person sitting back, listening, and taking everything in. I was never the loudest person in the room, but I enjoyed getting to know people and paying attention to the little things. I learned that being quiet can be a strength because it allows you to notice things others might miss. Even though I was known as the quiet girl, my classmates began to notice something else about me: I was always smiling. Whether I was having a great day or simply trying to make someone else’s day better, I found that a smile was one of the easiest ways to connect with people. Because of that, my classmates gave me the nickname “Smilie.” At first, I thought it was funny that something as simple as smiling became what people remembered about me. But over time, I realized that it represented something I truly valued. A smile may seem small, but it can make someone feel welcomed, included, or a little happier. I learned that kindness does not always have to come through big actions; sometimes the smallest gestures can leave the biggest impressions. Being the quiet girl called Smilie has shaped the way I interact with others. I may not always be the first person to speak, but I am often the person who listens. I enjoy making people feel comfortable and showing kindness in small ways. Those qualities have become a big part of who I am and have influenced my decision to pursue nursing. Throughout high school, I worked hard toward my future by maintaining a high GPA, completing my college nursing prerequisites, and earning my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification before graduating. Nursing is a career that requires knowledge and skill, but it also requires compassion, patience, and the ability to connect with people. I believe my quiet personality and my ability to recognize when others need support will help me become the kind of nurse I hope to be. I have learned that the things that make us unique are often the things that make us memorable. My quiet nature and my smile may seem like small parts of who I am, but they represent something bigger: the importance of being genuine and making others feel valued. I am proud to be the quiet girl called Smilie. It reminds me that you do not have to be the loudest person in the room to make a positive impact. Sometimes, all it takes is a kind heart, a genuine smile, and the willingness to make someone’s day a little brighter.
      Taylor Swift Fan Scholarship
Music has always been more than something I listen to—it has been a reminder that I am not alone. Taylor Swift’s music has been a meaningful part of my life because of the way she tells stories, embraces growth, and reminds people that difficult chapters do not define the entire book of their lives. One of the things I admire most about Taylor Swift is her ability to transform personal experiences into something that connects with millions of people. Through her songwriting, she has shown that vulnerability can be a strength. Her music has taught me the importance of expressing emotions, learning from experiences, and continuing to grow into the person you are meant to become. Growing up, I faced challenges that shaped me at a young age. My mother struggled with addiction throughout much of my childhood, and there were moments when I had to carry responsibilities and emotions that were difficult to understand. During those times, music became a source of comfort and reflection. Taylor’s songs reminded me that feelings are valid, that healing takes time, and that there is strength in continuing forward even when life feels uncertain. One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that our experiences can become a source of compassion. Instead of allowing difficult moments to define me, I have chosen to use them as motivation to help others. That mindset has guided my decision to pursue nursing. While in high school, I maintained a high GPA, completed my college nursing prerequisites, and earned my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification because I want to dedicate my life to caring for people during some of their most vulnerable moments. Taylor Swift’s journey has also inspired me because she has shown the importance of perseverance. She has faced criticism, challenges, and changes throughout her career, yet she continued creating, growing, and believing in herself. That message resonates with me as I begin my own journey in healthcare. Nursing will not always be easy, but I know that meaningful work requires dedication, resilience, and heart. I believe one of the greatest connections between Taylor Swift’s music and my future career is the importance of seeing people’s stories. Every patient I care for will have a life beyond their diagnosis. They will have memories, struggles, dreams, and experiences that deserve to be acknowledged. Just as Taylor’s music allows listeners to feel understood, I hope to become a nurse who makes people feel seen and valued. Being a Taylor Swift fan means more to me than enjoying songs. It represents finding courage in difficult moments, celebrating growth, and understanding the power of storytelling. Her music has reminded me that every person has a story worth telling, including me. As I continue my education and pursue nursing, I hope to carry those lessons with me: to be compassionate, resilient, and willing to turn my experiences into something that helps others. Like Taylor Swift, I want to use my voice and my story to create a positive impact.
      Mad Genius Scholarship
A “Mad Genius” is not always someone who invents something impossible or creates something never seen before. Sometimes, a Mad Genius is someone who looks at a broken situation and believes it can become something beautiful. My definition of a Mad Genius is someone who refuses to accept that circumstances determine their future. They are curious, determined, and brave enough to create a new path when the old one no longer works. I discovered this kind of genius through my own life. Growing up, I faced challenges that could have changed the direction of my future. I watched someone I loved struggle with addiction, experienced moments of uncertainty, and learned responsibility at a young age. Many people might have seen those experiences as reasons to give up, but instead, I began asking a different question: “How can I use what I have experienced to help someone else?” That question led me toward nursing. While still in high school, I challenged myself by maintaining a strong GPA, completing college nursing prerequisites, and earning my CNA certification. To some, becoming a healthcare professional may seem like a straightforward path. To me, it is a creative act of turning pain into purpose. Nursing requires a different kind of genius—the ability to combine science with compassion, knowledge with empathy, and skill with humanity. A Mad Genius nurse does not only see a diagnosis; they see a person. They notice the fear behind a patient’s silence, the story behind a family’s struggle, and the hope hidden inside difficult circumstances. They create healing environments where people feel valued. The greatest inventions and ideas often begin with someone who sees the world differently. I believe healthcare needs people who are willing to think differently—to find new ways to educate patients, support families, and make healthcare more compassionate. My “mad genius” idea is simple: imagine a world where every person entering a hospital feels like they are entering a place of hope instead of fear. Imagine healthcare providers who treat emotional wounds alongside physical ones. Imagine nurses who believe every person has the ability to heal and every story deserves to be heard. That is the kind of future I want to help create. A Mad Genius is not defined by being unusual. They are defined by their willingness to dream bigger, challenge what exists, and create something better. My genius is not a laboratory invention or a complicated machine—it is the ability to transform my experiences into compassion and use that compassion to serve others. Through nursing, I hope to continue creating something the world always needs: hope.
      Christian Fitness Association General Scholarship
Growing up, I learned that strength is measured by much more than physical ability. True strength is choosing to persevere when life feels overwhelming, serving others even when you have faced hardship yourself, and trusting God to guide your path. Those lessons have shaped who I am, why I have chosen nursing, and why I hope to be considered for this scholarship. I recently graduated from high school, and throughout my education I challenged myself to prepare for a future in healthcare. While maintaining a high GPA, I completed my college nursing prerequisites and earned my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification before graduating. Balancing rigorous coursework with clinical training required discipline, determination, and strong time-management skills. Every accomplishment reminded me that meaningful goals require consistent effort, and every challenge strengthened my confidence that nursing is where I am meant to be. Outside the classroom, I have dedicated myself to serving others through volunteer work and community involvement. Service has never felt like an obligation to me—it is something I genuinely enjoy. Whether helping at community events or giving my time to those in need, I have learned that small acts of kindness can leave lasting impressions. Those experiences have strengthened my communication skills, taught me humility, and reinforced my desire to spend my life caring for others. One of the greatest influences on my life has been my faith. Throughout difficult seasons, I found peace in prayer and confidence that God had a purpose for my life. The verse that guides me most is Matthew 22:39, where Jesus teaches us to "Love your neighbor as yourself." I believe this is more than a command—it is a calling. It reminds me to treat every person with compassion, patience, and dignity, regardless of their circumstances. Those values are the foundation of the nurse I hope to become. Like many families, mine has faced significant challenges. My mother struggled with alcoholism for much of my childhood. Watching someone I love battle addiction was heartbreaking, and it forced me to grow up quickly. During those years, I often relied on my faith to carry me through fear, disappointment, and uncertainty. Instead of allowing those experiences to harden my heart, I prayed for the strength to forgive and for the hope that healing was possible. Today, seeing my mother working toward recovery has shown me that people are never defined by their lowest moments. That lesson has given me deep compassion for individuals facing illness, addiction, or personal struggles. These experiences have influenced the way I approach healthcare. As a CNA, I have learned that every patient has a story beyond their diagnosis. Some are frightened, some are lonely, and others simply need someone to listen. I want to be the kind of nurse who not only provides excellent clinical care but also offers comfort, encouragement, and respect. I believe healing involves caring for the whole person—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. My long-term goal is to become a registered nurse and continue advancing my education throughout my career. I hope to work in a hospital where I can make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families. Eventually, I would love to mentor future nursing students and encourage young people who may doubt their ability to overcome difficult circumstances. I want my life to be an example that your past does not determine your future. Receiving this scholarship would ease the financial burden of pursuing my education and allow me to focus on becoming the best nurse I can be. More importantly, it would be an investment in someone who is committed to giving back. I plan to use my education not only to build a career but also to serve my community with compassion, integrity, and excellence. When I think about why I should be considered for this scholarship, I don't think only about my grades or achievements. I think about the person those experiences have shaped me into. I am resilient because of the challenges I have faced, compassionate because of the people who have needed my care, and determined because I know what it means to work hard for something that matters. I believe God has called me to nursing, and I am excited to answer that call. Every patient I serve will be an opportunity to live out my faith by loving my neighbor, offering hope, and making a difference one person at a time. With the support of this scholarship, I will continue pursuing that purpose with gratitude, determination, and a heart committed to serving others.

What Books Have Taught Me Books have always been more than entertainment to me—they have been a source of comfort, perspective, and growth. During different seasons of my life, I have turned to books to escape difficult moments, learn about the world, and better understand the people around me. Every story has taught me something new, whether it was about courage, compassion, resilience, or hope. Those lessons have shaped not only the person I am today but also the nurse I hope to become. One of my favorite things about reading is that every book allows me to experience life through someone else's eyes. Whether I am reading a novel, memoir, or inspirational book, I am reminded that every person has a story I cannot see at first glance. Reading has strengthened my empathy by teaching me to understand different perspectives, cultures, and struggles. That ability to see beyond first impressions is one of the most important qualities I can bring into nursing. Some of the most meaningful books I have read have reminded me that hardship does not define a person's future. Those stories encouraged me during times when my own life felt uncertain. They showed me that resilience is built one decision at a time and that hope can exist even in difficult circumstances. Those lessons inspired me to keep working toward my goals, even when balancing school, personal challenges, and the responsibilities that life placed before me. Throughout high school, I maintained a high GPA while completing my college nursing prerequisites and earning my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification before graduation. Although those accomplishments required discipline and determination, reading played an important role in helping me develop those qualities. Books taught me the value of lifelong learning, curiosity, and perseverance—qualities that are essential in healthcare, where there is always something new to discover and someone new to help. Reading has also deepened my desire to serve others. The stories I have encountered have reminded me that kindness can change someone's life, even in small ways. As a future nurse, I want every patient to feel heard, respected, and cared for. Just as books have allowed me to understand the emotions and experiences of fictional and real people alike, I hope to listen to my patients with the same openness and compassion. One quote that has stayed with me is from To Kill a Mockingbird: "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view." That lesson extends far beyond literature. It is a reminder to approach every patient without judgment and to recognize that every individual is carrying a story I may never fully know. Books have shaped my goals by teaching me empathy, resilience, and the importance of serving others. They have encouraged me to become not only a better student but also a better person. As I continue my education and pursue a career in nursing, I know the lessons I have learned through reading will remain with me, guiding me to care for others with compassion, understanding, and an open heart.
      VNutrition and Wellness Nursing Scholarship
Improving Health One Patient at a Time Nutrition is one of the most powerful forms of preventive medicine, yet it is often overlooked. Healthy eating can reduce the risk of chronic diseases, improve mental and physical well-being, and help people recover more quickly from illness. As a future nurse, I want to do more than treat symptoms—I want to educate patients so they have the knowledge and confidence to make healthier choices that improve their quality of life. My passion for nursing began long before I graduated high school. While maintaining a high GPA, I completed my college nursing prerequisites and earned my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. Through my education, volunteer work, and patient care experiences, I have learned that every patient has a unique story. Many people know what healthy choices are, but barriers such as financial hardship, limited access to nutritious food, lack of education, or difficult life circumstances often make those choices challenging. That realization has taught me that effective healthcare starts with understanding before advising. As a nurse, I plan to encourage healthier eating habits by educating patients in ways that are realistic and personalized. Instead of overwhelming someone with drastic lifestyle changes, I want to help them set small, achievable goals. Whether that means choosing water instead of sugary drinks, adding more fruits and vegetables to meals, or learning how to read nutrition labels, I believe lasting change happens one step at a time. Building trust with patients will be just as important as providing medical care because people are more likely to make healthy changes when they feel respected and supported. I also want to advocate for nutrition education beyond the hospital. Through community health events, school programs, and volunteer opportunities, I hope to teach families how healthy eating can prevent disease and improve overall wellness. Many illnesses, including diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure, can be reduced through better nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits. By helping people understand the connection between food and health, nurses have the opportunity to improve lives before medical intervention becomes necessary. My own experiences have reinforced the importance of overall wellness. I have seen how physical and emotional health are closely connected and how education and support can transform lives. Those experiences have inspired me to become a nurse who cares for the whole person rather than just the illness. Nursing is about more than administering medications or performing procedures. It is about empowering people to take control of their health and giving them the tools to succeed. By combining compassionate patient care with nutrition education and preventive health practices, I hope to make a lasting impact on my community. Every healthy choice a patient makes is another step toward a better future, and I want to be the nurse who helps them take that first step.

How My Faith Has Shaped My Life and My Future My faith has been the foundation of my life, giving me strength through hardship, gratitude during blessings, and purpose for my future. It has shaped the way I treat others, the choices I make, and the career I feel called to pursue. One Bible verse that has always stayed with me is Matthew 22:39: "Love your neighbor as yourself." To me, those words are more than a command—they are a way of life. They remind me that every person deserves compassion, kindness, and dignity, and they are the values I hope to carry into my nursing career. One of the greatest challenges in my life has been watching my mother struggle with alcoholism. Beginning when I was eight years old, I experienced fear, uncertainty, and responsibilities that no child should have to carry. During those difficult years, I often turned to God in prayer. I prayed for my mother's healing, for strength to keep moving forward, and for the ability to forgive the pain addiction caused our family. Today, seeing her actively working toward recovery has strengthened my faith and reminded me that healing is possible through perseverance, grace, and hope. Although those experiences shaped me, they do not define me. My faith has taught me to focus not on my circumstances but on how I respond to them. Instead of allowing hardship to make me bitter, I chose to let it make me more compassionate. I believe God has used every challenge to prepare me to care for others with empathy and understanding. Throughout high school, I worked hard to prepare for my future. I maintained a high GPA while completing my college nursing prerequisites and earning my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification before graduation. I also dedicated countless hours to volunteer work because serving others has always felt like an extension of my faith. Whether helping in my community or caring for patients through my CNA training, I found joy in making people feel seen, heard, and valued. My goal is to become a registered nurse who provides not only excellent medical care but also comfort and encouragement during life's most difficult moments. I know that every patient has a story, and I want to care for each person with the same love and compassion that Christ calls us to show one another. Nursing, to me, is one of the greatest opportunities to live out the command to "love your neighbor as yourself." As I continue my education, I know there will be challenges, but I also know I will never face them alone. My faith will continue to guide my decisions, strengthen my compassion, and remind me that every act of kindness matters. I believe God has given me a heart for service, and I am committed to honoring Him by caring for others with integrity, humility, and love. Through nursing, I hope to be a source of healing, comfort, and hope for every person whose life I am blessed to touch.
      Dashanna K. McNeil Memorial Scholarship
Growing up, I learned that caring for others is much more than meeting physical needs—it is about offering compassion, hope, and comfort during life's hardest moments. Those lessons came from both my volunteer experiences and my own family. Watching my mother struggle with alcoholism for many years gave me a firsthand understanding of how illness affects not only the individual but also everyone who loves them. Seeing her now in recovery has shown me the incredible strength it takes to heal and has inspired me to dedicate my life to helping others through nursing. Throughout high school, I worked hard to prepare for my future. While maintaining a high GPA, I completed my college nursing prerequisites and earned my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification before graduating. Becoming a CNA gave me the opportunity to develop clinical skills while learning the importance of treating every patient with dignity, patience, and kindness. It confirmed that nursing is not just a career I want—it is the career I am meant to pursue. Beyond academics, I have dedicated many hours to volunteering and community service because I believe helping others should extend beyond the classroom. Serving my community has strengthened my communication skills, empathy, and desire to make a positive impact. Every experience has reinforced my belief that even small acts of compassion can make a lasting difference in someone's life. The area of nursing that interests me most is emergency and critical care. Having experienced uncertainty and crisis in my own life, I know how important it is for patients and families to have calm, compassionate healthcare professionals they can trust. I want to be the nurse who not only provides excellent medical care but also offers reassurance during frightening moments. I also hope to advocate for patients facing mental health and substance use challenges, ensuring they are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. My goal is to become a registered nurse who combines clinical excellence with genuine compassion. I hope to continue my education, grow as a healthcare professional, and eventually mentor future nurses entering the profession. Most importantly, I want every patient I care for to feel seen, heard, and valued. Receiving this scholarship would help me continue pursuing my nursing education and move one step closer to achieving my dream. I am committed to using my education, experiences, and heart for service to improve the lives of others. Nursing is more than my career goal—it is my calling, and I am ready to dedicate myself to making a difference every day.
      Dr. Mozell Haymon Memorial Scholarship
When Bishop Mozell Haymon said, "Life begins with sobriety," I immediately thought of my mother. For most of my childhood, addiction was a part of my everyday life. Beginning when I was eight years old, my mother struggled with severe alcohol abuse. Instead of being cared for by my mother, I often found myself caring for her. There were nights filled with uncertainty, fear, and disappointment as I watched alcohol become more important than the people who loved her most. Growing up in that environment forced me to mature much faster than most children. I learned responsibility long before I should have. I worried about things children should never have to worry about, and I experienced situations that left lasting emotional scars. Watching someone you love choose alcohol over their family is heartbreaking, and for many years I carried feelings of sadness, anger, and confusion. During those difficult years, my faith became my greatest source of strength. I turned to God not only to pray for my mother's healing but also to pray for my own heart. I prayed for peace, for guidance, and eventually for the ability to forgive. Forgiveness did not happen overnight, but through my faith I realized that holding onto resentment would only continue the cycle of pain. Choosing forgiveness became one of the most important decisions I have ever made. Today, I have the privilege of witnessing something I once thought might never happen: my mother's recovery. She has committed herself to becoming healthier and rebuilding the relationships addiction damaged. Recently, she reached a milestone that brought tears to my eyes—after ten years of struggling, she made it through an entire weekend without drinking. To many people, that may seem like a small victory. To me, it represents hope, courage, and the possibility of a new beginning. My mother's recovery has changed my perspective on resilience and compassion. I have learned that people are more than the mistakes they make and that healing is possible when someone chooses to fight for a better life. These experiences have inspired my desire to become a nurse. I want to care for patients with the same compassion and understanding that I wish my family had always experienced. I know that every patient has a story, and I want to be the kind of healthcare professional who sees the person behind the diagnosis. As I continue my education, I hope to use both my personal experiences and my professional training to make a difference in the lives of others. My childhood taught me resilience. My faith taught me forgiveness. My mother's recovery taught me that hope is never lost. Life truly does begin with sobriety. I have seen firsthand that recovery not only transforms the person overcoming addiction but also gives families the opportunity to heal. That journey has shaped who I am, strengthened my faith, and inspired my commitment to serving others through nursing.

      Forge2Gether Bridging Cultural Differences Scholarship
One of the most meaningful relationships in my life has been my friendship with a classmate I met during my junior year of high school who moved to the United States from the Philippines. Although we did not grow up together, getting to know her has had a lasting impact on my perspective and personal growth. Our friendship has shown me how powerful connection can be, even when people come from very different backgrounds and life experiences. When she first moved to the United States, she faced the challenges of adjusting to a new country, school system, and culture. Even though I did not know her at the time, I later learned how difficult that transition was. What stood out to me most was her resilience. Instead of allowing those challenges to discourage her, she worked hard to adapt, stay focused on her education, and build a new life for herself. Her determination has been both inspiring and humbling to witness. As I became closer to her during our junior year, I also began learning more about her Filipino background and culture. Through our conversations, I gained a deeper appreciation for traditions, family values, and the importance of community in her culture. This friendship helped me realize how much we can learn from one another simply by listening and being open-minded. It challenged me to think beyond my own experiences and understand the world from a different perspective. This connection has also influenced my own goals. I am currently working toward becoming a registered nurse, and my friendship with her has strengthened my desire to work with people from diverse backgrounds. In healthcare, I will care for patients with different cultures, languages, and life experiences. This friendship has taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and communication when supporting others. I have learned to listen more carefully and approach people with understanding rather than assumptions. Her journey also reminds me of my own challenges. As a student, I have worked hard to overcome financial barriers while pursuing my education. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA, earned my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, completed the Honors Health Science Pathway, and earned 25 college credits through dual enrollment and continuing education courses. Seeing her perseverance has encouraged me to continue pushing forward in my own goals, even when the path is not easy. Overall, this friendship has shaped the way I see both people and the world. It has taught me the value of cultural understanding, resilience, and meaningful connection. Most importantly, it has inspired me to become a more compassionate and open-minded individual. As I continue my journey toward a career in nursing, I will carry these lessons with me and use them to provide better care and understanding for the people I serve.
Joe Gilroy "Plan Your Work, Work Your Plan" Scholarship
My name is Sophia, and I am a dedicated student who is working toward becoming a registered nurse. As a first-generation college student from a financially challenged background, I have learned that success requires persistence, discipline, and the ability to keep moving forward even when things are difficult. My experiences have shaped my educational goals and strengthened my desire to build a career in healthcare where I can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Throughout high school, I have pushed myself academically and professionally to prepare for my future. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA while earning my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, completing the Honors Health Science Pathway, and earning 25 college credits through dual enrollment and continuing education courses. These accomplishments reflect my commitment to education and my determination to take advantage of every opportunity available to me. My financial situation has been one of the biggest challenges in my educational journey. College expenses have always been a concern, and I have had to stay focused and intentional about planning for my future. Despite these challenges, I have continued to work hard because I know that education is the path to stability and opportunity. Instead of allowing financial stress to discourage me, it has motivated me to stay focused on my goals and build a future where I can achieve independence and give back to my community. My passion for healthcare began when I entered the Health Science pathway and grew stronger when I earned my CNA certification. Working in healthcare settings has shown me the importance of compassion, patience, and respect for every individual. I have learned that patients are not just individuals needing care—they are people who need understanding and support during vulnerable moments. This experience confirmed my desire to become a nurse and strengthened my commitment to this career path. In the future, I hope to use my education to serve my community by providing high-quality, compassionate care as a registered nurse. I want to be someone who advocates for patients, supports families, and helps people feel safe and valued during difficult times. I also hope to serve as an example for other students who come from similar financial backgrounds, showing them that their circumstances do not define their future. Receiving this scholarship would make a significant impact on my life. It would help reduce the financial burden of college, allowing me to focus more on my education and training instead of worrying about how to afford tuition and school expenses. More importantly, it would bring me one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming a nurse and building a stable future where I can give back to others. I am committed to working hard, continuing my education, and using my skills to make a positive impact in healthcare. This scholarship would not only support my academic journey—it would help me turn my dedication into a career that serves and uplifts my community.
      Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I became a fan of Sabrina Carpenter because her music feels honest, fun, and deeply relatable at the same time. What first drew me in was her ability to turn real-life emotions—like confusion, growth, heartbreak, and confidence—into songs that feel personal, even when you are hearing them for the first time. Over time, I realized her career represents more than just music; it represents growth, resilience, and learning to find your voice. One of the things I admire most about Sabrina Carpenter is how she has evolved as an artist. She started young in the entertainment industry and has grown into someone who is confident in her identity and creative expression. Watching her career has shown me that success is not immediate—it is built over time through persistence, self-discovery, and learning from experience. That message has stayed with me as I navigate my own future. As a student pursuing a career in nursing, I have faced challenges that sometimes make my goals feel overwhelming, especially financial struggles. There have been moments where I had to push through stress and uncertainty while continuing to focus on school, maintaining a 3.5 GPA, earning my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, completing the Honors Health Science Pathway, and earning 25 college credits through dual enrollment. Sabrina’s music often reminds me that growth is not perfect or linear. Instead, it is messy, emotional, and still worth continuing. Her songs also remind me of the importance of confidence and self-worth. In healthcare, I will need to be strong, compassionate, and confident when caring for patients. Listening to her music has encouraged me to believe in myself more and to stay grounded in who I am, even when things feel uncertain. That confidence is something I carry into my education and my future career. Beyond the music itself, I admire Sabrina Carpenter for embracing authenticity. She does not hide her personality or her experiences—she uses them as part of her art. That has inspired me to do the same in my own way: to stay true to my goals, to keep working hard in school, and to continue pursuing a career where I can help others. Overall, being a fan of Sabrina Carpenter is not just about enjoying her music. It is about connecting to messages of growth, resilience, and self-expression. Her career has reminded me that it is okay to evolve, to struggle, and to still move forward with confidence. As I continue my journey toward becoming a nurse, I carry that mindset with me every step of the way.
      Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
Olivia Rodrigo’s music resonates with me because it captures emotions that feel deeply personal yet universally understood. One lyric that stands out to me is from *drivers license*: “I still hear your voice in the traffic, we’re laughing over all the noise.” While the lyric reflects a specific emotional memory, I connect it to the idea of carrying memories of both struggles and motivation as I move forward in life. For me, this lyric represents the moments in my own journey where I have felt both challenged and encouraged at the same time. Growing up with financial hardships has not always been easy, and there were times when I felt uncertain about my future and how I would achieve my educational goals. However, even during those difficult moments, I have held onto the support, lessons, and experiences that shaped me into who I am today. Another lyric from *drivers license* that resonates with me is the feeling of driving alone and reflecting on how far you have come. I relate this to my educational journey, where I have worked hard to push myself forward despite challenges. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA while earning my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, completing the Honors Health Science Pathway, and earning 25 college credits through dual enrollment and continuing education courses. There have been many long days of balancing responsibilities, studying, and preparing for my future, but I continued because I knew my goals were worth the effort. These lyrics connect to my personal journey because they reflect both reflection and growth. Just like Olivia Rodrigo expresses in her music, life is not always about perfect moments—it is about learning from emotions and using them as motivation. My experience working toward becoming a CNA also reinforced this idea. Caring for patients taught me that even in difficult or emotional situations, compassion and patience can create meaningful impact. Olivia Rodrigo’s music also reminds me that growth often comes from moments of uncertainty. As I continue pursuing my goal of becoming a registered nurse, I know there will be challenges ahead. However, I have learned to view those challenges as part of my journey rather than obstacles that stop me. Overall, her lyrics resonate with me because they reflect resilience, self-reflection, and emotional growth. My personal journey mirrors those themes as I continue working toward a future in healthcare. I have learned that even when life feels uncertain, I can still move forward, grow stronger, and remain focused on my goals.

      Love Island Fan Scholarship
If I could create a new Love Island challenge, it would be called **“Text Me Maybe…** This challenge is designed to test communication, romance, and the ability to not embarrass yourself while trying to flirt under pressure. In this challenge, Islanders are secretly paired with someone other than their current partner for a “fake texting scenario.” Each Islander must send romantic, funny, or flirty text messages to their assigned match while their real partner watches everything from a distance. The twist? Their partner can see the messages in real time—but cannot react until the challenge ends. Yes, chaos is guaranteed. The goal is simple: make your assigned match laugh, blush, or fall slightly in love with your texting skills without getting immediately dumped by your actual partner. Points are awarded based on creativity, humor, and how hard the receiving Islander blushes on camera. Bonus points are given if the message includes a horribly confident pickup line that somehow works anyway. Halfway through the challenge, there is a surprise twist called **“Autocorrect From Hell,”** where every Islander must send one message where autocorrect intentionally ruins their sentence. For example, “You are beautiful” might turn into “You are a potato,” and they must somehow recover emotionally and romantically from the damage they just caused. At the end, each Islander reveals their messages to their actual partner. This is where drama, laughter, and unexpected sweetness collide. Some couples will laugh it off and realize they trust each other. Others will question everything after seeing their partner accidentally call someone else “the love of my life (typing error).” The winning couple is the one who survives the challenge with the strongest combination of trust, humor, and surviving secondhand embarrassment. Their prize is a romantic sunset date and the ability to send one couple to a “Silent Treatment Dinner,” where they are not allowed to speak—only dramatically stare at each other while eating pasta and rethinking their life choices. This challenge would bring everything Love Island is known for: romance, comedy, chaos, and just enough emotional damage to keep things interesting. It proves that love is not just about attraction—it’s about surviving bad texting decisions and laughing through the chaos together.

Jon Cook Work Hard and Go Forth to Serve Scholarship
      Winner
I am a 17-year-old high school senior preparing to graduate this May, and I will be attending Utah State University Eastern this fall to pursue a degree in nursing. My journey into healthcare began early, driven by a desire to care for others and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Over the past six months, I have worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Beaumont Assisted Living, where I have gained hands-on experience that has deeply shaped both my education and my perspective on patient care. Working as a CNA while completing high school has required discipline, time management, and resilience. Balancing long shifts with schoolwork has not always been easy, but it has strengthened my work ethic and reinforced my commitment to my goals. Every day at work, I am responsible for assisting residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility. These tasks, while routine, have taught me the importance of patience, compassion, and dignity in healthcare. I have learned that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a profound impact on someone’s quality of life. One of the most meaningful aspects of my experience at my facility was having the opportunity to work with Jon. Being able to care for someone whose life and legacy inspired this scholarship made my experience even more significant. Jon’s determination to stay mentally, socially, and physically engaged despite the challenges he faced left a lasting impression on me. He exemplified what it means to live fully and maintain dignity through hardship. Watching his strength and positive mindset reinforced why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare. My work experience has enhanced my education by giving me real-world applications for what I learn in the classroom. Concepts that might otherwise feel abstract become tangible when I see them play out in the lives of residents. I have developed strong communication skills, learned how to work as part of a healthcare team, and gained confidence in high-responsibility situations. These experiences have prepared me not only for nursing school but for a lifelong career dedicated to serving others. In addition to the skills I have gained, working as a CNA has also taught me the importance of emotional strength and empathy. Building relationships with residents means celebrating their good days and supporting them through difficult ones. It has shown me that healthcare is not just about physical care, but also about providing comfort, understanding, and human connection. As I move forward in my education, I am committed to continuing to grow both personally and professionally. My goal is to become a nurse who provides compassionate, patient-centered care while advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves. I want to carry the lessons I have learned from my work, especially the example set by Jon, into every aspect of my future career. This scholarship would not only support my education financially, but it would also honor the impact that Jon had on my life and reinforce my dedication to the healthcare field. I am proud of the work I have done so far, and I am motivated to continue building a career centered on compassion, resilience, and service.
