What solidified my interest in the culinary field could have been my love for food or the creativity that I experienced. That is not what made me decide to pursue culinary further. My mother was the true passion that I had when I was questioning my future studies. I first understood that I had an interest in culinary when I would watch her work in the kitchen, moving so gracefully and barely breaking a sweat. I still remember when she would tie on her apron and have a clear idea of what she wanted. I had always tried to be like her but whenever I tried I would end up making a mess. There would be flour on the floor, and raw pasts sticking to the ceiling. Her clear-headedness is what I admire. She was able to make absolutely anything that she wanted to and I fell in love with her again. Growing up she would let me help her out with minute tasks. Now that I am older she relies on me to do more than peel potatoes and I would still be lost if I did not have her in my life. I owe her everything for showing me through to this career path. She has always supported me through day one and she has been there for me even through the thick and thin. I was also able to discover my desire and passion while in high school. I was grateful enough to be able to join the culinary classes that they offered and that is also when I knew that I wanted to be in the culinary field. It took a lot of work to pursue my degree. Due to more personal matters, I have felt that I have always been two steps forward and three steps backward. I pushed myself to be the better version of myself even though I have not always been. Being a recipient of this scholarship won't just be beneficial financially but also mentally and spiritually. I have always tried to be a person who does not rely on others but I have quickly learned that it is not always feasible. I hope that I can pursue my dream degree while being able to afford college all on its own. I know that while being in college I will be able to network and build my reputation not just with other students but with organizations in the hospitality field.
