My mom and dad always said “Estudia para que no tengas que ser como nosotros” study so you won't be like us, but they are everything I inspire to be their strength, and sacrifices are so important to me.My parents immigrated here to the United States when I was 5 to give me and my sister the life and education they have never had or weren't able to have.
My parents didn't have the opportunity to have an education due to having to work from an early age. My dad left to the United States before us to get a head start with a job, then my mom and me and my sister came. My parents left everything behind their loved ones, their house, their memories to give me and sister this “American dream "to give us a life with no struggles, a life where getting an education was free and important to people.
My education is something I hold with value not just because it's mine but because it's also my parents. From a young age coming home with homework or big projects my mom always seemed so intrigued, and you can see on her face the look of someone who wished she had the privilege of an education of the “American dream”. I work hard, I do all my assignments and put my best foot forward to break the generational pattern of people with no education or even a high school diploma.
I’ve been an honor, Ib student with extracurriculars and a job outside school. I am my parents. They made me the person I will be. Everyday going to school, I know the privilege and power I hold getting this education, being able to learn different subjects. Keeping my grades up is something I do not just for myself but for my mami and Papi. They are me and I am them, everything I will do is for them and their hardships and sacrifices to give me this life to give me my very own American Dream is the opportunity I will never take for granted.

My parents taught me compassion in a world full of hate we should never add to it. My mom has taught me to treat everyone the same, God put us on this earth for a reason we should love one another like family like brothers and sisters. If the world knew more compassion it would fix alot of problems.
