I believe this quote is very accurate. I have personally experienced much discrimination in the online gaming community for my gender. I've been called slurs and been sexually harassed by fellow community members. These people don't believe that what they're saying has any effect on those around them and hide behind their online persona. These types of people give a bad stereotype to those who enjoy gaming but the constant bullying from team members or those on the opposite team is consistent and hurtful. I also believe that those who act like this online find the negative effects of these actions in real life situations. When they act like this in person, they are faced with the consequences of their actions.
