I have chosen to pursue a career in the medical field because there are many people all over the world suffering and I want to be able to help lessen their medical worries. Playing sports growing up, I sustained many injuries and the healthcare professionals that helped rehabilitate me were so kind and caring. The medial field has always fascinated me, and I have always known that I will be a part of it. I have always loved watching medical shows and crime shows with my dad and seeing all of the blood and gore on the television, but I had never really had to deal with anyone in the healthcare field until I broke my hand in the summer of 2020. The surgeon that talked to me about my hand was so kind and made me laugh about a situation that was causing me a lot of stress. I want to be able to do that for someone else. I want to be able to lessen the weight that the harsh situation of being injured can put on someone. I am only a senior in high school, but ever since I was eight, I have wanted to be a surgeon. I wasn't sure of what kind, but I knew that I wanted to be in the operating room saving someone's life. As I started to get older, I started thinking about all the different branches of surgery and was really intrigued by neuro and orthopedics. For the longest time I wanted to be a neurosurgeon, but the past two years I have been in a sports medicine class, and I think that I have changed my mind and want to be an orthopedic surgeon. This year in sports medicine we are looking at more of the anatomy of the body and injuries the body sustains from sports. We have talked a lot about injuries involving bones that require surgery, and I have kept thinking that it will be me one day operating on these injuries. One of the biggest reasons I want to be an orthopedic surgeon is because a lot of athletes get hurt and I know the toll that an injury takes on an athlete and their mind. I want to lessen the burden of the injury and be able to get the athlete back up and playing their sport. Becoming a surgeon is my biggest dream and I am so excited to start pursuing my dream in college.

I hope to gain the knowledge to enter the medical field from college. I hope to understand the basic workings of the body and get a degree that will help me get into medical school. I will be meeting people from all different backgrounds, and I am looking forward to people that I can click with and that understand me. I am more of an introverted person, so I am excited to branch out of my shell and live with a roommate and meet so many new and intriguing people. I will also be playing softball in college, so I am excited to create a sister-like bond with my teammates and spend time with people that are also juggling playing a college sport with school. I think being around people like me, struggling to adjust to college life, will help make the transition easier not only for me but hopefully for them also. I am also just so excited to be away from home, learning how to keep myself afloat and how to manage life. I think being a couple of hours away from my family will be really healthy and help me appreciate my family even more.

    Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I feel like I have grown up watching Sabrina Carpenter. My childhood was full of tons of shows and movies that featured or included her. I am a huge fan of Disney, so any Disney Channel shows she was included in I watched. I have seen her grow so much. She went from such a great actress to an even better music artist. Her music is so catchy, and I often find myself thinking "I want to put on some Sabrina". Listening to her music and the lyrics, you can really feel how much she has grown and matured over the years. She went from a Disney Channel star to a pop star and her journey was so inspiring to watch. Sabrina is so incredibly talented, and her music has reached many. Watching her transition from Disney into a global music star was truly amazing. Her dedication to make a name for herself after being on Disney is so inspiring and makes me want to work hard for what I want and make a name for myself in whatever I choose to do. The determination she demonstrated can be seen by everyone and the name she has made for herself has gotten her gigs like opening for Taylor Swift. I think it is so amazing that she found something she loved and worked hard because the music industry is so competitive and made a career and name for herself.

Am I impacting the world positively or negatively? How you impact the world should be something that everyone thinks about. Impacting the world in any way possible is very important. I want to make an impact on the world and help people even if it's in the smallest way. My impact on the world is something that I think about often and the impact I want to make on the world has influenced my choice for my future career. I would like to believe that I am already making an impact on the world in my community by volunteering and organizing fundraisers. I like to spend my time teaching children softball and participating in fundraising events through my school that make money for those in need. I am a part of the National Honors Society branch at my school, and we dedicate time to organizing volleyball tournaments that put the students against the teachers to raise money for children living with cancer. I have always liked helping people and I want to follow a career path that can help me continue to do that. I am planning to pursue a higher education via college and major in biology. After completing my undergraduate years, I hope to be accepted into medical school and eventually become a surgical resident. I am really hoping to become a surgeon so that I can help people every day. I want that to be my impact on the world. Becoming a surgeon has always been my dream. Since I was little, I have been watching medical shows and have been very intrigued by what I have seen. I want to become a surgeon because that is how I believe I can best help the world. I want to be there for people in one of their greatest times of need and help them recover and come back from that difficult time. The blood and gore that comes with being a surgeon doesn't bother me at all because I know that what I will be doing will be helpful to another person and allow them to continue living their life to the fullest. I know there are many people out there who want to pursue the medical field, and I applaud anyone who has completed the process. It takes lots of hard work and dedication to the cause to make it through so many years of school to reach your dream of helping people. My dream has always been to help people in any way possible and going to a 4-year university is just the beginning of a long road to reach my dream.
    Nintendo Super Fan Scholarship
I remember playing many Nintendo games throughout my childhood. My family would have specific nights dedicated to playing Nintendo games and we would create tournaments because we are all very competitive and want to win. Nintendo games created a healthy form of competition in our house, and we all pushed each other to be better and win. There were many games that were included in our tournament like Mario Kart, Wii sports, and Zelda. Our tournaments were mostly on the Wii console, competing in all the sports and seeing who could score the highest. My absolute favorite Nintendo game to play with my family was Mario Kart. I remember one weekend when I was 9 and my brother was 8, we woke up in the morning and ran to our parents to see if we could have a Mario Kart tournament because we had both been practicing and had gotten pretty good. They said yes and we got to work organizing it. We wrote down our names on little slips of paper and put them in a hat to choose our first opponent. The tournament was set up in a double elimination style, so you got to race at least twice. My first opponent was my dad, and he was really good at it and so I lost my first game. My next opponent was the loser of my mom vs. my brother, so I ended up racing my brother. He is also much better at Mario Kart than I am, and I lost again and was eliminated. I was pretty devastated, but I got to watch the rest of the tournament and cheered for my dad, who ended up winning the whole thing. Nintendo games were so much fun growing up and my brother and I spent a lot of our time practicing and racing each other to see who was better. He won almost every time, but I had a lot of fun competing against him and they made us grow closer. Mario Kart is definitely my favorite Nintendo game to this day, and we still create and compete in tournaments in my house.

Applying for college and trying to get through college debt free is something that burdens my mind every day. I have been applying to scholarships left and right to try and ease that burden for myself and for my parents and so that I am not in crippling debt because of student loans. College also means so much to me because my education is a priority for me, and I want to be the most educated and knowledgeable person that I can be and be able to give back to society in the best way possible. Being active in my community and volunteering my time during high school has been very important to me. I have spent many hours of my free time giving back to the little league, teaching children of the community, and helping to raise money to help people outside of the community battling cancer and other diseases. I have made volunteering and community service a priority because I want to give back as much as possible to my community before I venture outside of my small town and help more people out in the world. I have volunteered to help my high school softball team teach younger elementary age kids the fundamentals of softball. I was a camp counselor, and we spent a week teaching the young girls of the community how to correctly throw the ball, hit the ball, run bases, and catch the ball. I am a part of the National Honors Society (NHS) and we are required to collect a certain amount of volunteer hours to remain a member of the society. To meet the volunteer hours, I am an assistant coach at the little league teaching even more young girls the fundamentals of softball and facilitating their love for the game. As a part of NHS, we also do group volunteer projects to help the community which include organizing school dances, trash pickups, and our annual volleyball tournament that raises money to give to the hospital to help cancer patients. I have also volunteered to participate in the volleyball and dodgeball tournaments that my school organizes to raise money to help those in need. I like to believe that I am helping the community a lot, but I also know that there is so much more that I could be doing. I want to go to college and major in biology so that I can go to medical school and eventually become a neurosurgeon or a cardiothoracic surgeon. My goal in life is to help people in any way that I can and becoming a surgeon will allow me to help others in their greatest time of need. Injuries are very difficult to deal with and if I can put myself in a position to help ease that difficulty and help my patients recover that's where I want to be. Giving back to my community has shown me that I have a real passion for giving back to society and helping people in any way that I can, and I want to be able to get through many years of school and finally be in a position to help people in their worst times.
    Team USA Fan Scholarship
There are many amazing and ground-breaking athletes on Team USA that I get to watch compete in the Olympics this year. I would say that my absolute favorite athlete to watch compete in the Olympics is Simone Biles. She is such an amazing gymnast, and you can see all the passion she has for gymnastics and all the effort she puts in to be the best in the world. Being a professional athlete is extremely grueling and she has talked about the toll that it has taken on her mental health and how much stress it caused her. After she withdrew herself from the Tokyo Olympics, she spoke out about how hard gymnastics got for her and how she started to lose her love for the sport and how she had to work hard to get back to loving gymnastics, and I thought she was really brave for speaking up about what most people keep bottled up inside. I play softball and have many times felt like quitting and giving up on something that I have worked on for years, but seeing how she handles herself and speaks about how she got the love back for her sport makes me determined to work on my mental game and find the strength to continue and become the greatest athlete I can be. I really look up to her because of the passion, drive, and strength that she has to continue on with a sport that is extremely hard and takes a massive toll on the body and the mind. Simone Biles is such an inspiration to many girls around the world who participate in athletics, and she is showing us that it is okay to lose some of the love you have for your sport, because if it is something that you truly love you will work as hard as possible on your mental game to love it again. I am very excited to watch Simone Biles back on the Olympic stage and I can't wait to see how she will perform for Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
