My name is Simone Josey, and I am an incoming nursing student at the University of Pennsylvania dedicated to advancing reproductive health equity. With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Bioengineering from North Carolina A&T State University, I have spent years developing the technical expertise required to solve complex healthcare challenges. However, my graduate research and professional experiences led me to understand that women’s health innovation requires bridging the gap between the laboratory and the bedside. I am transitioning into nursing to identify clinical gaps through direct patient interaction and to engineer solutions that are both equitable and accessible. As an aspiring Women’s Health/Gender Related Nurse Practitioner, my mission is to make a direct impact on patients in marginalized communities. My ultimate goal is to establish a women’s health center that prioritizes innovative solutions to physical, mental, and gynecological health. By combining bioengineering with nursing, I intend to lead the next generation of reproductive healthcare innovation by ensuring that every woman has access to the standard of care she deserves.
