Silvana Camacaro is a dedicated and resilient student pursuing a career in nursing, with a strong commitment to health equity and patient advocacy. Originally from Venezuela, she immigrated to the United States at a young age, an experience that shaped her understanding of how systems impact access to healthcare and opportunity. She is a graduate of Miami Dade College’s Honors College, where she served as President of the Biological Honor Society (Tri-Beta) and actively engaged in research focused on Type 2 diabetes in underserved communities. Her work explored how socioeconomic factors and access to resources influence long-term health outcomes. Driven by her passion for service, Silvana founded Proyecto Vida a Casa, an initiative dedicated to delivering essential medical supplies to underserved communities in Venezuela. Through this effort, she has coordinated the collection, organization, and distribution of resources to support individuals with limited access to care. As a bilingual student fluent in Spanish and English, Silvana is committed to bridging gaps in communication and ensuring patients feel heard, respected, and understood. Her long-term goal is to become a nurse practitioner who advocates for more equitable healthcare systems while providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
