My biggest dream in life is to become a high school history teacher. Ever since I was a kid, I have always wanted to be a teacher. All of the teachers in my life have inspired me to be a teacher. My biggest dream is to be a high school history teacher because my high school teachers were some of the most influential people in my life. They truly cared about me and helped me during some of life's biggest struggles. I decided I wanted to be a high school history teacher because I love history, and high school was when I had some of the most influential people in my life. I believe that history is one of the most important topics for everyone to learn because we should know what has happened in the past and how to prevent similar things from happening in the future. I also want to teach at the high school level because I want to inspire students to be who they want to be and know that they have someone who will support them in their journey. Growing up in a low-income household has been a struggle. I wasn't sure if I would be able to attend college or pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. In high school, I took a class that introduced me to the teaching field. My teacher for that class, Mrs. Maher-Strawser, showed me what it means to have a teacher who truly cares for you. She would always check to make sure that I was okay in school and at home. She knew that I came from a low-income household and that I was worried about whether I could afford college. She would help me find scholarship opportunities that were local and right recommendation letters for them. I know it might not seem like much, but for me it was. I plan on achieving my goals of becoming a high school history teacher by going to Cedarville University. I am currently a sophomore majoring in Social Studies Education. After I graduate with my Bachelor's degree, I hope to do a teaching residency in Memphis that will help me earn my Master's degree. I strive to be a teacher who is dedicated to helping students achieve in education. I have felt a calling to teach in an inner city school district because I know how hard it is for low-income students in an inner city to find a good education. I want a teacher who can create a safe haven for students to escape from life for a little bit and focus on education. I want students to have an environment where they can do the best they can. I also strive to be a teacher who makes students excited to learn. Overall, I strive to be a teacher who makes sure students' needs are met to allow them to succeed in the classroom. In conclusion, my biggest dream in life is to become a high school history teacher. I want to be the teacher who checks up on students and supports them in their journey through life. I also want to teach in an inner-city school district because I know how important it is to have a teacher who can help you succeed in your education. Thank you for taking the time to read about what my biggest dream is and how I hope to achieve it.

I have had many people in my life who have had a profound impact on my life to work in education. I have had many teachers who have inspired me to go into teaching, but Mrs. Maher-Strawser was the most impactful in my life. She was my teaching profession teacher during my junior and senior years. I took the class not sure if I wanted to be a teacher in the future, but she helped me fall in love with teaching. Mrs. Maher-Strawser has made a profound impact on my decision to work in education because she showed me what it means to be an impactful teacher. She would always check to make sure that I was okay and reassure me that she would be there for me. I realized then that the teaching profession was what I wanted to do because I wanted to impact future students like she has for me. Mrs. Maher-Strawser also made sure to learn how each of my classmates learned best. This showed me that she cared about what ways that helped us learn successfully. In the future, I want to be just like her when figuring out what learning strategies help my students succeed in the classroom. Mrs. Maher-Strawser taught the teaching profession class at my high school to help students earn college credits for education classes and gain teaching skills. I learned so many skills such as how to make lesson plans and different learning strategies. In that class, Mrs. Maher-Strawser let us get hands-on practice of different teaching methods when we would make lesson plans for elementary students in the mornings before they headed off to school. I got to experience what it would be like to make connections with future students during that class. I wanted to be a caring teacher just like Mrs. Maher-Strawser in the future. Coming from a single-parent and low-income family, she always made sure that my needs were met. Any student's needs must be met because that helps them learn to the best of their ability. She would have snacks for students in her classroom for anyone who wasn't able to eat breakfast or lunch. She would also make time for students if they needed someone to talk to. She has shown me how a teacher can be so impactful on someone's life. I want to be the teacher that a student feels comfortable talking to in a time of need, just like Mrs. Maher-Strawser was to me. I specifically want to be a high school teacher because my high school teachers, such as Mrs. Maher-Strawser, impacted me the most in my life. High School is a challenging time for students because it is the point in their lives where they are figuring out who they are and who they want to be. In high school, I could always go to Mrs. Maher-Strawser when I was struggling at home or needed help with how to plan for my future. She was my number one supporter in achieving my goals to be a teacher and to go to my dream college, Cedarville University. When I got accepted into Cedarville University, she was one of the first people I told. When I graduated she came to me a gave me a big hug and told me how proud she was of me and that I would be a great teacher in the future. That moment solidified why I wanted to be a teacher in the future. She still has an impact on why I want to be a teacher today while I am still in college. She still checks up on me and helps me when I need it. Overall, I have had many teachers that has impacted my decision to work in education, but Mrs. Maher-Strawser was by far the most impactful. She has shown me why it is important for students to have a teacher who truly cares about them in the present and future. I can now confidently say that I want to be a teacher because of Mrs. Maher-Strawser believing in me. In conclusion, I aim to be the teacher who is there for students anytime and impacts their lives.
