With a degree in social work, I hope to make a difference for families suffering through life's many challenges. Growing up with three younger siblings, in a low-income family, taught me humility and self-sacrifice. My adult life gave me many hurdles as I attempted to create a good life for my own daughters while breaking cycles and tearing down barriers. I learned so much about myself, about parenting my children, and about the social climate in which families exist, and I aim to better each of these things through my own devotion. I want to help families to overcome homelessness and food scarcity. I want to help single parents and those suffering abuse to create reliable support networks and reach their goals. I want to help LGBTQ and multicultural families to feel appreciated and connected within our communities. I have experienced these challenges, struggled to find my own way through, and want to extend my hand to others so that their path is easier to walk, and so that they do not have to walk it alone.
