I’m a 2026 graduate with a passion for visual art, psychology, and entrepreneurship. As Art Club President and a dedicated volunteer, I blend creativity with purpose—whether I’m drawing, cooking, or leading workshops. My goal is to use art and mental health awareness to empower others, especially within minority communities. I believe creativity is not just a skill—it’s a way to connect and heal.
With over 40 hours of service in food drives and youth tutoring, I believe in giving back while lifting others through creativity. My academic passions—mental health in minority youth, entrepreneurship in the arts, and the psychology behind expression—drive my dream to build spaces where people can create freely.

From cave paintings to the sophistication of the Baroque, art has long been a core constituent of human expression. It is, in fact, this very great history of art that first stimulated my interest in the area and fostered a deep-seated belief in the importance of creativity not as a hobby or a means to an end but, rather, as an integral way of understanding and contextualizing the world. My educational trajectory and personal adversity have only bolstered this conviction.
I was born in Montgomery, Alabama, a city shaped by both cultural richness and historical challenges. Community attitudes toward art varied widely-some saw it as impractical; others embraced creativity as a source of resilience. Later, relocating to Wetumpka, I was schooled in discipline and hard work through my brother Brandon, who swam every day until he became two-time state champion and captain of the team. My mom worked long hours as a nurse, while my dad, following racism on the job, built his own auto shop, the Blue Phoenix. Through him, through the artistic legacy of my grandfather, I learned that art can take many forms, including the act of rebuilding one's life with purpose.
My childhood, however, was marked by profound loss. In 2015, my brother was shot and killed on his way home from a gathering of friends and family. His death recast my understanding of grief. Years later, my father's health declined due to complications of heart failure, and he passed away in November 2023. These losses of my brother and father deeply shaped my identity but strengthened my resolve in the search for meaning through art and education.
Art was to become the medium through which I would process grief. During the summer of 2024, I took a great interest in landscapes: the shapes of mountains, cloud formations, and the soft light of a crescent moon. A close friend urged me to do more than simple sketches, and her reinterpretation of Mary Cassatt's Lilacs in the Window sparked an interest in experimenting with Baroque techniques to evoke emotion. This urged me to create seventeen sketched images while searching for an artistic style of my own.
My academic interests simultaneously grew, especially towards philosophy, psychology, astronomy, and theology-those aspects that completely changed my perception of this world and influenced my attitude towards the creation of art. I am now majoring in Art and building skills which merge visual creativity with creating digital content on YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch. My ultimate goal is to encourage others in self-expression and contribute to making the arts more available. This scholarship would definitely help to further my educational pursuits by lessening financial burdens and allowing me to develop both my artistic and academic talents in earnest. My resilience, curiosity, and desire to honor my family's legacy have been the guides on my path. I plan to use my art and education as means of contributing meaningfully in my community and inspiring creativity in others.
