Bio

Dear, Scholarship Selection Committee, My name is Shirley Nichols, I am currently in my 2nd year of law school at Trinity Law School. I am writing this letter in a request for your scholarship program for financial assistance with the remainder of my law school education. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri -Columbia with a Bachelor Of Science of Business Administration. I have also completed and received a Master degree in Business Administration at Webster University. It has been most difficult taking care of my now nine year old son, working with him and his school work and extra curriculum activities, trying to maintain my mortgage and real estate career during the day, and by night attend law classes online and homework thereafter. My days have been very long and tiring (for the most part) and my evenings and weekends not long enough. However, I do know that with God's grace and mercy, I will complete my law school degree. Currently, I am the sole financial provider for my son. I am a Mortgage and Real Estate professional, which is my only income. The industry is very volatile right now and my income has drastically reduced. I am paid on a 100% commission basis, and without any closings, I do not get paid. In my first year of law school, I was granted two student loans to assist with my living expenses and provide for my son. I would be most grateful for any scholarship opportunity to further assist with my education and completion of a Juris Doctorate.

Dear, Scholarship Selection Committee, My name is Shirley Nichols, I am currently in my 2nd year of law school at Trinity Law School. I am writing this letter in a request for your scholarship program for financial assistance with the remainder of my law school education. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor Of Science in Business Administration. I have also completed and received a Master's degree in Business Administration at Webster University. I have always had the desire to attend law school and become a successful attorney one day. My other desire in life was to move to California. So, I stepped out on faith and moved to California alone at the age of 25yrs old. I immediately entered the workforce as a Mortgage Loan Originator. Thus, enrolling in law school was delayed again, but not forgotten. I continued to work and strive for success in other areas of my life. I eventually gave birth to my only child (a son), Ryder at the age of 41. As the years rolled by, I decided to step out on faith again and last year, I completed my first year of law school with Trinity Law School. I finished number one in my Contracts I course, number two in my Criminal Law course in my first semester, and number one in my Torts II course in my second semester. I had a cumulative GPA of 3.390. It has been most difficult taking care of my now nine-year-old son, working with him and his school work and extracurricular activities, and his mental health, along with trying to maintain my mortgage and real estate career during the day, and by night attend law classes online and homework thereafter. My days have been very long and tiring (for the most part) and my evenings and weekends are not long enough. However, I do know that with God's grace and mercy, I will complete my law school degree. In my first year of law school, I was granted two student loans to assist with my living expenses and provide for my son. Unfortunately, most student loan funding is restricted and pays barely enough for tuition and the remaining monies as a refund covers the course books and other learning resources needed. Thus, the refund that should assist with our "living expenses" has been limited, to say the least. Although I do have faith the size of a mustard seed, it continues to be tested daily. I would be most grateful for any scholarship opportunity to further assist with my education and completion of a Juris Doctorate. Thank you in advance for your consideration as your scholarship recipient. Respectfully submitted, Shirley Nichols
