Her name is Sharon, and I am passionate about raising my daughter to be a good person and teach her that education is important. Hi, I'm Sherly, and I'm 19 years old. I'm currently studying at Hilltop High School, and I'm in my senior year. My goal is to graduate this June 2026 and continue my studies to improve my English and pursue a career as a flight attendant.
My dream is to study to become a flight attendant. After graduating, I want to continue my studies to improve my English and become fluent. Once I'm proficient in both Spanish and English, I plan to look for opportunities to begin my flight attendant training. Since I was little, I've been interested in learning new languages and volunteering to help those in need. I enjoy traveling, and I'm kind and very friendly. I believe these characteristics are necessary and essential for the career I want to pursue.
When I arrived to this country, I wanted to continue my studies, but since I was alone and had to be responsible for myself, I had to drop out of school and start working. I started working as a gardener, and after eight months, I realized that this wasn't what I wanted for myself. I knew that the only way to get out of that situation and have better opportunities was to continue my education.
It's very important for me to continue my studies because I now have this great opportunity. My parents didn't go to school, and from my own experience, I know how difficult it is to get ahead and find a job without an education; there aren't many opportunities. Since I have this opportunity, I want to take advantage of it. I want to be someone important in this life and be able to give my daughter all the support she needs and make everyone around me proud of me, my efforts, achievements, and goals.
It hasn't been easy for me to raise my daughter on my own, but I haven't given up, and I don't intend to. My life will change dramatically with this degree I'm working towards. As a single mother with a young child, I know I have to teach her and be a good role model so that she also sees and understands how important education is.
This will be a challenge for me since it's not easy to study, work, and have the responsibility of raising a baby. But I have great faith in God that everything will work out, and I will finally become someone important and a source of pride for my parents and my daughter. This scholarship will help me a lot financially so I can pay for my studies and focus on my goals. But above all, I want to show people that it is possible, and that with effort and dedication, anything can be achieved. Especially, I want to show my daughter, Sharon, who was born on November 28, 2025, that she has a mother who fought for her, to give her a good life and better opportunities.
