Bio

I took the scenic route on my career path and became successful. I had a rewarding career of learning and growing through different occupations. I worked mostly in healthcare with end-of-life populations. I decided after a major job loss, I wanted to finally earn my college degree. I became a single mother at the age of 18. I then had my second child at the age of 24. I would like to be the first Dr. in my family. I intend to teach and mentor students as part of my future goals. I am studying for an associate degree in Computer Science, with a concentration in Cyber security. I want the degree so that whenever I make any further career changes, I will be in control of future outcomes. I am a full-time student at ECPI University. I am unemployed and facing eviction. My mission and goals in life have always been to learn as much as possible and help as many people as I can along the way. I am building my legacy one day at a time. I truly believe in education and mentorship. I think it provides a different pathway out of life’s many circumstances. The ability to know you have options and choices coupled with free will is priceless. I feel we must share knowledge, or it will die with you. I feel that is a terrible waste of one’s mind. I am a lifetime learner. I am a student for life. I enjoy learning life’s lessons. I am an example of hard work and determination. I want to be a part of the change I want to see in this world. Every day I strive to learn something new and teach someone else what I have learned.

I want to make high-level connections and create a mentoring program like never before seen. I want to help children and prepare them for their futures. I want to make the world a better place for my children, and their children. My mission and goals in life have always been to learn as much as possible and help as many people as I can along the way. I always worked closely with the IT department at my jobs. I like being able to fix things and have often been the go-to person in times of quick help whether it was software or hardware related. I could never afford to attend school and pay for the many certifications required. At least that is what I always thought, I should have viewed it more as an investment of time and money. I will no longer allow not having a degree to be my Achilles heel. In conclusion, I would like to thank you in advance for your consideration of my application for this scholarship. It would help me to achieve long-standing goals. I take great pride in my work and my ability to learn. I will put my best efforts toward my education. I will make the best of every opportunity awarded to me to achieve academic success. Class of 2024, here I come.

I worked mostly in healthcare with end-of-life populations. I decided after a major job loss, I wanted to finally earn my college degree. I became a single mother at the age of 18. I then had my second child at the age of 24. I have worked very hard to be a provider for my family. It has not been easy, but I am grateful for every part of my journey. At the age of 42, I still strive to be a role- model for my children. When I was in high school, I did not have the same advantages as kids do today. I was not aware that the cost of college could be offset by applying for scholarships and grants. I would like to be the first Dr. in my family. I intend to teach and mentor students as part of my future goals. I am studying for an associate degree in Computer Science, with a concentration in Cyber security. The ability to know you have options and choices coupled with free will is priceless. I feel we must share knowledge, or it will die with you. I feel that is a terrible waste of one’s mind. I am applying for various scholarships in the hope they will alleviate many financial burdens. I need the scholarship money so that I can focus on maintaining my grades. My goal is to graduate with a 4.0 GPA. I would also like to be valedictorian, so I can use that speech as my platform to encourage everyone with a message it's never too late to pursue and accomplish your goals. I am a lifetime learner. I am a student for life. I enjoy learning life’s lessons. I am an example of hard work and determination. I want to be a part of the change I want to see in this world. I could not afford to attend school and pay for the many certifications required. At least that is what I always thought; however, it's actually an investment of time and money. Losing my job may have been the best thing to happen in one regard. As I searched for many different employment opportunities, I noticed I was qualified for many of them I was lacking the degree. In those instances, I learned many of the skills on the job over the years. The degree was the deciding factor for a larger pay grade. I intend to leverage my degree for exceptional pay. I possess the work qualities any employer would desire. I will no longer allow not having a degree to be my Achilles heel. The loss of my younger sister Marie at the age of 31, in September 2022 devasted me and my family. I am still trying to process, cope and heal. It has shown me once again I need to do this for myself and my family. In conclusion, I would like to thank you in advance for your consideration of my application for this scholarship. It would help me to achieve long-standing goals. I take great pride in my work and my ability to learn. I will put my best efforts toward my education. I was not aware that the cost of college could be offset by applying for scholarships and grants. I was also not aware of the advantages of being able to work and get tuition reimbursements. Schools I attended had a big support system for those enrolled in sports and the arts. I have given my full support and attention to my kids. It is now time for me to pursue my educational goals. I intend to get a master’s or doctoral degree. I would like to be the first Dr. in my family. I intend to teach and mentor students as part of my future goals. I have several family members in the military, my two uncles in the army, and my stepdad was in the Navy. I always pictured myself being able to travel the world in the military.
