Being a young lady in the music scene is a tough scene to be in if you don't have a niche. Especially in my case. I grew up singing in church on every single stage possible - children's church, youth, and the main service. They found out I could sing and shoved a microphone in my hand. At the time I just considered it a hobby, but the older I got, the more I fell in love with it.No matter what, I knew if I had a bad day, I could sit down and sing or play my guitar or piano and I know it would center my back in. I picked up a guitar my junior year of high school and went straight to YouTube to master it. I spent a few years simply being a campfire musician before one of my coworkers at a radio station I work forced me to get on stage at our local bar. From there it became a passion. I started booking acoustic shows around my hometown and seeing people that I knew (and didn't know) coming to watch me sing gave me a type of feeling that is hard to explain. Even if there were only 15 people in a little dive bar, I still felt like Dolly Parton. My entire life I have always felt a calling to the stage. I never figured it would be singing, but now I know that it is. I have only been playing shows for a year, but by the grace of God, I have made impressive progress. I mainly play Texas Country music (which is a male lead industry) and on a whim, I entered a songwriting competition and I was one of six females in it, and the rest of the contestants (30) were men. It was the Larry Joe Taylor Songwriting Showdown. After that, I realized I really have a chance of success in this realm. And every day I am writing, hoping to create the next #1 hit. If you ask anyone that listens to Red Dirt country who their favorite female artists are, you'll be lucky if they can even name one. My goal is to become a name you can't forget. I also want to help show other young female artists that the Texas Country scene is not something to shy away from just because "ladies don't do well in it". I consider that a challenge. I am a force to be reckoned with, and my music reflects that.
