The cafeteria was always loud during testing season, but in the best way. At Ka’ala Elementary School, one of my favorite traditions happened before we took our SBA tests. Younger students would create posters with positive affirmations, and the upper grades would run through the middle of the cafeteria while different grade levels stood on both sides cheering us on. Seeing messages like “You can do it!” and “Believe in yourself!” helped everyone feel encouraged and supported. It made a stressful time feel exciting and reminded us that our school community believed in us. I attended Kaʻala Elementary School from kindergarten through fifth grade. During those years, teachers like Ms. Maeda helped guide and encourage me. My teachers created a positive learning environment where students were motivated to do their best. They helped build my confidence and taught me skills that prepared me for middle school and high school. Their support made school feel like a place where I could grow and succeed. My fondest memory from Kaʻala is the assemblies before the SBA tests. Even though testing can be nerve-racking, the school turned it into a moment of encouragement and unity. Running through the area filled with colorful posters made by younger students showed how everyone supported each other. It reminded me that even small acts, like writing a positive message, can make someone feel more confident and ready to succeed. One important lesson that has stayed with me since elementary school is the idea of being a quality producer. During my years at Kaʻala, students who showed effort, responsibility, and pride in their work could earn recognition as quality producers. I remember feeling proud when I received that recognition because it showed that my hard work was noticed. That lesson has continued to motivate me throughout high school. It reminds me to stay focused, put effort into everything I do, and take pride in the work I produce. Looking toward the future, I hope to explore and discover different pathways within the healthcare field. I am interested in learning about careers that involve working with patients and families, as well as roles that support healthcare in other ways. During my time in higher education, I plan to create study groups so students can support one another and succeed together. Collaboration and teamwork are important skills, especially in healthcare. In the future, I hope to use my education and compassion to help others and make a positive difference in my community. The lessons and encouragement I received at Kaʻala Elementary will continue to guide me as I pursue my goals.
