The movie that made the most impact in my life was Wonder. Wonder is a movie about a kid who is different from the other ones. It teaches me to not judge a book by its cover, how to be a good friend, and gives me a greater understanding about other peoples lives.
In Wonder, Augie looked difference to others. He went threw many surgeries to keep him alive. The results of those surgeries made him have a scared face. When he went to school people would laugh in his face, throw stuff at him, and make fun of him. This guy Jack, was different from all the kids. He didn’t judge Augie by his looks. He was a friend to him and would stand up for him. That impacted me showing that just because people are different don’t mean anything.
Wonder also shows me how to be a good friend. Jack, as explained in the previous paragraph, was a good friend to Augie. They spent weekends together, played together, and went to events together. Jack stood up for Augie. When someone made fun of him, Jack punched the kid in the face. Jack was protective of his friend. He also would make him laugh and smile. This is a good friend. When people would put Augie down he would bring him up and show him how special he really is. I want to be a friend who lifts up others, stands up for them, and fights for them.
Wonder also gives me a perspective of other peoples lives. Augie and Jack got in a fight because Augie didn’t understand why Jack was being so nice to him. Augie was insicure because so many people would make fun of him he didn’t understand why someone would be his friend. He would also cry to his parents begging them to keep homeschooling Augie but they pushed him to go to high school. He was scared of what people might think of him. Through his trials, it has shaped Augie.
In conclusion, the movie wonder has impacted me the most. It not only has impacted me but also filled me with a passion to teach others who are different. In my future I want to be a special needs teacher. This movie has shown me that people who aren’t categories as “normal” are as equal as any of us. If you haven’t watched Wonder, I think it would be a good heartfelt movie that will have you laughing at the best parts and crying at the hard times.
