Bio

My life goals are to build a strong career and to travel the world. I love adventures and trying new things. Last year I tried three new sports: soccer, cheer, and softball. I found each one to be an amazing opportunity, but cheerleading was my favorite. When I go to college I want to be a flyer on the cheer team, and maybe even take it to the professional competition level. I have a fear of heights, but by doing cheer I've learned that my fears cannot stop me! I have a deep love for music. I am constantly listening, singing, or dancing! My biggest dream is to be able to release my own music and perform on a stage. I want to be someone who can inspire people, to face their fears, to give their all, and never give up. While I am a Junior in High School, I am taking AP classes in Writing, History, and Science. These classes are an amazing opportunity to get used to working at a college-level pace, so it is easier for me to adapt to the transition from High School to College. I've done community service for my community by helping serve meals in church and working with elementary students. Although not volunteering, I've worked with horses, giving them rides around the field for exercise, bathing and feeding them, and being an overall caring face for the horses to see because they do not have a home of their own. I helped my school raise over $10000 to help save children and women from sex trafficking.

For me, even though it is a children's movie, the movie that has impacted my life the most is Big Hero 6. There are two main reasons why. The first is because of Hiro's resilience. At the beginning of the movie, Hiro faces hardship when his brother dies in the fire. He faces the grief that every individual faces, but as the movie goes on he realizes that Tadashi might be physically gone but the memories they share will always be there. This gives him the strength and resilience to keep going, to save his home from the bad guy. Even when he finds out that the bad guy is Professor Callaghan, the guy Tadashi died trying to save, he doesn't avenge his brother by killing him. Instead, he does what he knows would make Tadashi proud, he lets him live and saves his daughter. This helped me because a few years ago I lost my great grandma, and a few months after that my grandpa. Just like Hiro, I faced grief, but I also learned that even though they are gone, they are not really gone, giving me the strength to keep going on with my life. My grades went up and I worked harder, and even though that pain was still there I learned to work through it. The other reason why this movie has been an inspiration to me is because of the lesson Baymax teaches. He is there with Hiro during his grief, and though he is a robot, he still tries his best to give Hiro what he needs; love and support. Then there are his friends, they also are the comforting factor that helps Hiro push through his pain. It's also through Baymax where Hiro learns that Tadashi may be gone, he still lives through his loved ones. This inspires me because I can be that person who becomes the light in someone else's darkness. I can be the comfort, I can be the one who helps them see that things get better, that all we have to do is get past the rough parts. A few months ago my friend's mom died. She was shaken to the core, her mom was dead. When I heard of it I was hurt, not in the same way, but I knew now was the time to take the lesson I learned and use it. I tried my hardest to make sure that I could be what my friend needed. Although that pain is still there she has begun to see the light. This fills me with such a good feeling, knowing that everyone has someone they can lean on, and when a person needs it give it to them.
