My vision for myself as a nurse in the future is rooted in compassion, growth, and leadership. I see nursing as more than just a career; it is a calling that allows me to combine my passion for helping others with my determination to build a stable, meaningful life for my family. Becoming a nurse means not only caring for patients at their most vulnerable moments but also serving as an advocate, an educator, and a source of strength. I envision myself growing in this profession, constantly learning, and ultimately becoming a leader who inspires others.
In the beginning stages of my nursing journey, I want to focus on gaining hands-on experience and building strong clinical skills. Working directly with patients will allow me to develop confidence, empathy, and the ability to think critically in high-pressure situations. I want to be the type of nurse who listens carefully, treats patients with respect, and makes them feel seen and valued as human beings, not just as medical cases. This foundation is important not only for my career but also for the trust I will build with patients and their families.
As I grow in my career, my vision extends beyond bedside care. My long-term goal is to become a Director of Nursing, a position that will allow me to lead, guide, and support other nurses while ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care. I know this role will require advanced education, leadership skills, and years of dedication, but I am determined to achieve it. I want to be a leader who leads with compassion, sets high standards, and creates a supportive environment where nurses feel empowered to do their best work.
Part of my vision also involves being an advocate for mental health within nursing. Through my own experiences, I have learned the importance of caring for both the mind and body. I want to bring that perspective into my practice, ensuring that patients’ emotional well-being is valued just as much as their physical health. I also hope to support my colleagues by promoting wellness and encouraging self-care, because I know firsthand that nurses can only provide the best care when they also care for themselves.
Most importantly, my vision is driven by my role as a mother. I want my son to see that hard work, perseverance, and compassion can open doors and create opportunities. I want him to grow up knowing that his mother not only cared for her family but also made a difference in the lives of others. Nursing gives me the chance to leave behind a legacy of service, strength, and leadership.
In the future, I see myself as a nurse who is not only skilled and knowledgeable but also compassionate, resilient, and inspiring. My vision is to touch lives, uplift others, and grow into a leader who sets an example for both my son and the next generation of nurses.

My experiences with mental health have shaped me in ways that continue to influence how I view myself, others, and the future I am building. Like many people, I have faced moments of struggle—times where the weight of responsibilities, especially as a young parent and student, felt overwhelming. These challenges taught me that mental health is just as important as physical health, and that taking care of the mind is essential to living a balanced, meaningful life.
One of the most important beliefs I have developed is that mental health should never carry stigma. Too often, people suffer in silence because they feel ashamed or afraid to open up. I once believed I had to be strong at all times, but I have learned that true strength comes from acknowledging when you need help and finding healthy ways to cope. This shift in perspective has made me more compassionate, both toward myself and others. I now recognize that everyone is carrying battles we may not see, and that empathy can go a long way in supporting someone through difficult times.
My relationships have also been deeply impacted by these experiences. I have learned the importance of communication, patience, and understanding. Whether with family, friends, or my son, I try to approach relationships with honesty and kindness, recognizing that mental health affects how we connect with one another. I have also built stronger boundaries to protect my own peace, which has helped me grow healthier and more meaningful connections.
These lessons have greatly influenced my career aspirations as well. My struggles have made me more aware of how vital compassion and empathy are in healthcare. As I continue my nursing journey, I want to carry those qualities with me into my work. I hope to one day serve not only as a caregiver but also as an advocate for patients who may be struggling emotionally as well as physically. Ultimately, my goal of becoming a Director of Nursing is about more than leadership—it is about creating an environment where mental health is respected and where patients and staff alike feel supported.
Overall, my experiences with mental health have given me resilience, compassion, and perspective. They have taught me that caring for others begins with understanding their humanity, and that is the belief I will carry with me throughout my life and nursing career.
In the end, my experiences with mental health have not only shaped who I am but also who I aspire to become. They have given me the strength to rise above challenges, the compassion to connect with others, and the determination to build a career where I can make a difference. I know that my journey will continue to come with obstacles, but I see each one as an opportunity to grow and to prove to myself and my son that perseverance and self-care can lead to success. Nursing is the path where my personal growth and professional goals come together, and I am committed to using my story to inspire and support others along the way.

Growing up in a single-parent household taught me the value of strength, sacrifice, and perseverance. My mother worked hard to provide for me, and I watched her juggle responsibilities with little support. Those experiences shaped the way I view resilience and responsibility. Later, when I became a teen parent myself, I understood her struggles on a deeper level. Raising my son at a young age was not something I had planned, but it became the most important turning point in my life. It gave me motivation, direction, and a deep sense of purpose. Every decision I have made since then has been about creating a better future for both of us.
Even in high school, I knew I wanted to work in healthcare. I enrolled in college courses while finishing my diploma and committed myself to learning skills that would help me begin my career early. Through hard work, I earned my CNA, phlebotomy, and EKG licenses and certificates before graduating. These achievements were more than just credentials to me—they were proof that I could overcome obstacles, balance multiple responsibilities, and stay committed to my goals. They also gave me hands-on experiences in patient care that confirmed my passion for helping others.
What draws me to nursing is the unique opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. Nurses are often the ones patients and families turn to during their most difficult moments. They are caregivers, advocates, educators, and sources of comfort. I know what it feels like to face challenges and uncertainty, and I want to be that person who provides reassurance and compassion when others need it most. My own journey of struggle and determination has instilled in me empathy, patience, and the ability to connect with people on a human level—qualities I believe are at the heart of nursing.
Being a young mother has also influenced my career choice. My son motivates me to keep pushing forward, no matter how hard it gets. He is my reason for striving toward stability and success. I want him to grow up seeing that his mother never gave up, that she worked hard not only to care for him but also to build a meaningful career. Nursing offers me the chance to provide for him financially while also pursuing a profession that is deeply rewarding and impactful.
Looking ahead, my aspiration is to continue advancing in the field until I achieve my goal of becoming a Director of Nursing. I know this path will require dedication, leadership, and years of learning, but I am ready for the challenge. My background has shown me that I am capable of rising above adversity, and nursing gives me a way to transform my personal strength into professional service.
In the end, my life experiences have shaped me into someone who is determined, compassionate, and goal-driven. They are the reason I chose nursing and the reason I will keep striving to grow within the profession. Nursing is not just a career for me—it is a calling that aligns with who I am and who I want to become.

I grew up in a single-parent household, and from an early age I understood what it meant to work hard and overcome challenges. My mother’s strength and sacrifices shaped my outlook on life, and when I became a teen parent myself, I carried those same lessons with me. Having my son at a young age was not something I had planned, but it gave me a new sense of purpose. Every choice I make now is guided by the determination to create a better future for both of us.
Even while still in high school, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. I enrolled in college courses and committed myself to learning as much as I could. Through that hard work, I graduated not only with my diploma but also with my CNA, phlebotomy, and EKG licenses and certificates. Those accomplishments proved to me that I could balance school, parenting, and personal growth. They also gave me a foundation of knowledge and skills that I plan to build on as I continue my nursing journey.
Nursing is not just a career path for me—it is a calling. I want to be someone who makes a difference in the lives of patients and their families during some of their most vulnerable moments. At the same time, I want to show my son that no matter what life throws at you, you can rise above it with perseverance and dedication. He is my biggest motivation and the reason I refuse to give up on my dreams.
My long-term goal is to become a Director of Nursing. I know that achieving this position will take years of education, leadership development, and experience, but I am determined to get there. I see myself leading a team of nurses, ensuring high standards of care, and creating an environment where both patients and staff feel valued. That vision keeps me focused whenever I feel overwhelmed or discouraged.
My journey has been filled with obstacles, but each challenge has only strengthened my determination. I am proud of how far I’ve come, but I am even more excited for where I am going. One day, I will look back and see that every late night, every sacrifice, and every moment of perseverance brought me closer to becoming the nurse—and the leader—I was meant to be.
Ultimately, my story is one of perseverance and hope. I want to prove that your circumstances do not define your future, but your choices and determination do. As a young mother and future nurse, I carry not only my own dreams but also the dreams I hold for my son. Every step I take brings me closer to the life I’ve envisioned for us—a life built on stability, compassion, and leadership. I know the road ahead will not be easy, but I am ready for the challenges. With faith, hard work, and determination, I will achieve my goal of becoming a Director of Nursing and show my son that anything is possible when you never give up on yourself.
