Born and raised in the US with a Turkish dad and German-born mom, I consider myself a unique class of first-generation Turkish-German-American. I added Italian by learning the Italian language and culture. Throughout my childhood, I have always been fascinated with hands-on experiments. My curiosity drove me to try new projects spontaneously. Whether it be mixing baking soda and vinegar that I suck out of the pantry or dropping an ice cube in the scorching oil cauldron that my mom just made french fries in, I wanted to witness the excitement and energy of an explosion. Growing up in a military family, my three younger sisters and I would have the hardest time moving every three years under military order. I did not get to keep my kindergarten best friends or favorite teachers. I was missing a sense of belonging at every new location, and it was a challenge to adapt to a new environment. However, it was this moving around that made me a bold person. I started to realize that I was serving alongside my dad minus the uniform. This newfound mentality helped me overcome my internal challenges, become more resilient, and live in the moment.
