Earning my college degree will not only open doors for me, but also allow me to lift others the way mentors have lifted me. As a student pursuing Veterinary Medicine, I want to show younger students, especially those who feel overlooked, that their dreams are possible. By sharing my journey from a small-town high school senior to a college graduate, I hope to make higher education feel less intimidating and more achievable. My long term goal is to open a low cost veterinary clinic that serves underserved families, proving that education can create real change. I want others to see that when one person succeeds, the whole community rises.

      Pet Pals Pack Compassion Award
From a young age, I understood that my golden retriever, Thor, was more than my companion, he was a source of comfort, stability, and unconditional love. Growing up, I saw how deeply families relied on their pets, not only for joy but for emotional support during difficult times. Yet I also witnessed how many households, especially in underserved communities, struggled to access reliable and affordable Veterinary care. This disparity shaped my desire to pursue a career in the Veterinary field. I want to become a Veterinarian who not only treats animals but also uplifts the people who depend on them. My passion for Veterinary medicine is rooted in both compassion and justice. As an underrepresented minority student, I have often been aware of the gaps in access, representation, and resources that affect communities like mine. These inequities extend into animal care as well. Too many families are forced to choose between their financial stability and the health of their pets. I believe no one should have to make that choice. By becoming a Veterinarian, I hope to bridge that gap and bring high quality, affordable care to areas that need it most. My academic interests in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science have strengthened my commitment to this path. I am fascinated by the complexity of animal physiology and the interconnectedness between human and animal health. Every class I take reinforces my desire to continue learning, even when the coursework is challenging. I know that Veterinary Medicine requires years of rigorous education, but I am motivated by the impact I hope to make. I want to be the kind of Veterinarian who listens, who educates, and who advocates for both animals and the families who love them. Beyond academics, I know the importance of empathy and patience in this field. Animals cannot speak for themselves, so Veterinarians must be their voice. They must also be educators, helping families understand how to keep their pets healthy and safe. I am committed to developing these skills so I can serve with both expertise and compassion. This scholarship represents more than financial support; it represents belief in students like me who aspire to make a difference. The cost of higher education can be overwhelming, especially for minority students pursuing specialized fields like Veterinary Medicine. Support from organizations like The Pet Pals Pack helps ensure that passionate, dedicated students can continue their education and ultimately give back to the communities that shaped them. I am pursuing a career in the Veterinary field because I want to create a future where every family, regardless of income, background, or location, has access to the care their pets deserve. I want to stand at the intersection of Science, service, and compassion, using my education to improve the lives of animals and the people who love them. This is more than a career goal for me; it is a calling, and I am committed to following it with purpose and heart.

Attending Coram Deo Academy has shaped not only the student I am today, but the person I am becoming. Walking through its halls as a freshman, I saw a place where people from different backgrounds, interests, and stories came together. Over time, I realized that my school was more than a building, it was a community that challenged me, supported me, and inspired me to pursue higher education with purpose. The teachers who pushed me academically, the mentors who believed in my potential, and the younger students who looked to me for guidance all played a role in helping me understand that education is not just a path forward, but a responsibility to those who come after me. My high school experience has been defined by two things: opportunity and accountability. In the classroom, I was encouraged to explore the sciences deeply, which strengthened my desire to pursue Veterinary Medicine. Courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science showed me how interconnected life is and how much impact one person can have through knowledge and compassion. Outside the classroom, my involvement in athletics and leadership programs taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of using my voice. Being a captain on the Varsity baseball team and a leader in Boys Mentor Lunch showed me that leadership is not about titles, it’s about service. These experiences made higher education feel not only attainable, but necessary for the future I want to build. My commitment to my community is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and valued. Through Boys Mentor Lunch, I work with younger students who are navigating the same challenges I once faced, uncertainty, pressure, and the feeling of not fully belonging. I make it a priority to create a space where they can be honest, ask questions, and grow. Whether we’re discussing academics, personal struggles, or future goals, I aim to be the kind of mentor I needed when I was their age. Seeing them gain confidence reminds me why leadership matters. I also contribute through my involvement in the Multicultural Awareness Club that promote inclusion and understanding. As someone who has experienced what it feels like to be overlooked or underestimated, I am committed to helping create an environment where diversity is celebrated. I participate in events, discussions, and initiatives that encourage students to learn from one another and embrace the richness of our different backgrounds. These efforts may seem small, but together they help build a school culture where everyone feels they belong. Ultimately, attending Coram Deo Academy has inspired me to pursue higher education because it taught me that learning is a lifelong journey and that my success is tied to the impact I make on others. I want to continue serving my community, eventually as a Veterinarian providing accessible care to families who need it most. Higher education is the next step in turning that vision into reality. My school gave me the foundation; now I’m ready to build on it.
