"What is resilience?" you may ask. You might think it's the ability to recover quickly from tough times, but to me, it means much more. Resilience has been a part of my life since I was a young child. Whether it was struggling in school, sports, or personal life, I have always had to overcome obstacles that stood in my way and knocked me down. College has exposed me to even more challenges, such as tearing my pectoralis major in the gym and struggling financially to pay for school while my parents face other expenses such as my dad's medical bills for Parkinson's disease. Receiving a scholarship would not only help me, but it would also greatly relieve the financial burden on my family. They have never dealt with the expenses of attending college, and it has been a significant challenge for them. With my sights set on a career in hospitality, I aspire to be like David Grutman, the king of hospitality. I have already proven my capabilities to myself, my colleagues, and my employers through my work at festivals and in the industry. However, my only obstacle right now is money. This scholarship would demonstrate that I am resilient and dedicated to doing whatever it takes to achieve my goals and get one step closer to a successful future. As I have been focused for the last year in school and work I have completed countless hours of work to improve my knowledge and experience in the industry to one day own my hospitality ecosystem where I represent the companies as a reflection of myself and to show people that no matter the obstacle or no matter the rough times that you are put through you always have the choice of getting right back up and to keep on trying until you succeed.
