Bio

My life goals are to finish college with a bachelor's degree and focus on writing, acting, directing in film, I do have short and full-length scripts shelved. Another personal goal is for my late mother she went to college, but, never graduated, and for a long time, I've wanted to finish what she started to make her proud in spirit. Receiving my bachelor's degree, which I believe she would've wanted. Again, my passion is movies which I'm very intellectual while watching. I love to always study, learn, and evolve from watching a film.

    Nikhil Desai "Favorite Film" Scholarship
My all-time favorite film is truly personal to me, the edgiest, creative, intelligent story or stories ever made, Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction". I remember when I was 12 years old back in 1997, I was passionately involved in films, I was in my John Travolta phase as he's respected as one of my favorite actors, and I was at the video rental store inside this supermarket, the movie "Pulp Fiction" was on the VHS cover in the action section, I picked it up, gave it to the clerk, so, I can rent it out, the clerk had to tell me "You have to bring a parent up here to claim this movie." I was so confused because I've seen R-rated films before, but this is a different kind of R-rated film, yet determined to go all over to the supermarket and bring my mother back to the rental store so I can retrieve the movie as I garnered the VHS copy. That night, I remember watching being amazed by this storied entertainment, dialogue, and action. Since then, I've been admired by the writer and director Quentin Tarantino, which has been an absolute influence on me as I've watched his other films. Years later, in my senior year of high school, the foster family refusing to let me shoot a silent movie in their house, which was supposed to be for school, I remember having the "Pulp Fiction" DVD featurette, I remember watching the interview with Charlie Rose interviewing Tarantino being inspired to shoot, I transitioned filming at my school which led to a 10-minute silent film called "Pink Rose", that was complete within four weeks for my video class, which I passed with flying colors, "Pulp Fiction" influenced my goals, with being innovative towards my future acting, writing, and directing.
    Amplify Continuous Learning Grant
I'm currently working on screenwriting right now, typewriting off my laptop from time to time, writing scholarships and grants, respectively. I'm planning on going back to college to finish my education, at The University of the District of Columbia, hoping to major in Digital media/ film and receiving my bachelor's degree within a year or two. However, in planning that direction towards my new skill while using the grant, I would transcend writing and shooting movies to further my education and it starts to go farther with my career. Gaining my extensive movie knowledge I can make a difference if given the absolute opportunity.
    Mental Health Movement Scholarship
My personal journey began at birth in Columbus, Ohio in 1984. I was born 4-6 weeks premature, I died on the table as my heart stopped being an underweight baby at 3 pounds, 7 oz while witnessing a white light for a few minutes, my mother told the doctors to resuscitate me, which they did, as they kept me in an incubator for a month until I was able to gain weight enough to be released from the hospital. Growing up a few years later, we relocated to Hot Springs, Arkansas, I was raised as an only child, I mostly remained quiet and to myself, as my only escapism is watching tv and movies as a kid, which influenced me later on for my future profession. My mom was dating a guy that was an abusive drunk who used to be aggressive towards her a lot. This led to me witnessing my mom having a gun as she pulled the trigger on her ex, However, the safety catch was on as my mom's ex hit her, took the gun from her. Eventually, we moved away from him to Pennsylvania. Years later in 1999, after my mom and I left Pennsylvania, we moved to Middletown, New York. 6 weeks later after the move, she passed away. I was immediately placed in a group home before I was uprooted again to a different town in Newburgh, New York as I was placed in foster care. After my mom's death, my mentality changed profusely by not getting into trouble and listening to teachers and my foster parents. They have half-heartedly supported me in which case I had to support myself when it came to my goals through high school and community college which I've succeeded in. The way to deal with it is to do the things that the people wanted you to do. Do it for them as an absolute goal, it can be from education towards a successful profession as long as you believe in the spirit of that lost one that will positively keep you proud.
Elevate Minorities in the Arts Scholarship
After watching countless films at a very young age, I started writing stories of my own since I was 12 years old. Two years later after moving to Upstate New York sadly, my mother passed and I was placed in foster care (up until I was 21) the following year started keeping me out of trouble throughout high school was doing theatre in high school, (Newburgh Free Academy) mainly acting on stage. It was a rush on stage, being in the moment, expressing my mind for all the world to see. I acted in my first play production which led to multiple plays I did in the theatre from taking acting classes to doing plays that were from different genres, from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer's Night Dream", "As You Like It", to the African-American play "A Raisin in the Sun", And I also did a short silent movie, "Pink Rose" being the first theatre actor in my high school to make a short. and influencing others in the school to expand their horizons as well, However, what has inspired me was my work ethic and the spirit of my late mother, giving people the satisfaction, while given back the appreciation, that I can give the influence themselves to be in my shoes one day. Whether on stage or behind a camera. Using this scholarship will be elevated toward my goals, I have multiple short scripts shelved which I want to use for classes to shoot. Personally, it'll be extremely helpful towards finishing my bachelor's degree. Afterward, I want to lead by writing and directing my own full-length films, stories that the arts and entertainment world could be inspired by. In conclusion, My past work explains itself, However, the future work will be greatly appreciated if you allow me the opportunity to evolve my dreams to reality.
