My name is Sean Cummings, and I am a student at Jennings High School with a 3.69 GPA. Throughout high school, I’ve been active in leadership and service, serving as Class President and holding different roles in Key Club at both my school and district level. I’ve also been involved in Student Council, Beta Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which have helped me grow as a leader and teammate.
Service has always been important to me. I’ve volunteered with Special Olympics, toy drives, food donations, and other projects that have allowed me to give back to my community. These experiences, along with leading and mentoring my peers, have inspired me to pursue a career in education. My goal is to become a teacher who not only helps students learn, but also motivates them to reach their full potential.
I work hard to balance school, leadership, and service, and I’m committed to carrying these values into my future career.

WinnerMy name is Sean Cummings, and I am a student at Jennings High School with a 3.69 GPA. Throughout high school, I have taken on leadership roles such as Class President, Student Body Vice President, and Key Club officer at both the school and district level. I have also been involved in Student Council, Beta Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. These experiences have taught me how to lead with responsibility, communicate with others, and serve my community.
Service has always been a core part of my life. One of the ways I have been able to give back is by co-founding an annual toy drive called Holiday Heroes. Each year, we provide Christmas gifts to children in grades K–6 as well as students in the local alternative school. Organizing and running this project has been one of the most meaningful things I have done. Seeing the joy on the children’s faces when they receive gifts reminds me that even small acts of kindness can create big memories. Beyond the toy drive, I have also volunteered with Special Olympics, worked at food drives, and supported other service projects in my community. These experiences have shown me that service is more than a single event—it is a lifelong commitment to putting others first.
This belief is what drives me to pursue education. Teaching is one of the most meaningful ways to continue a life of service because every lesson, every word of encouragement, and every moment with a student has the power to change the future.
I also come from a long line of educators, and my biggest inspiration is my mother. I grew up watching her dedicate her life to her students, and I spent countless weekends and summers at school by her side. I saw the extra hours she put in, the way she encouraged struggling students, and the way she celebrated their successes as if they were her own. Being surrounded by that environment made school feel like a second home to me. It showed me that teaching is not just about academics, but about building relationships and helping students see their worth. Those experiences shaped me into someone who not only values education but sees it as a true calling.
Carrying on this family legacy means so much to me because I know the impact one teacher can have. I want to follow in my mother’s footsteps, but I also want to create my own path as an educator who inspires students to be leaders, problem-solvers, and dreamers. My goal is to create a classroom where every student feels seen and supported, no matter their background or challenges.
Education is how I plan to continue dedicating my life to service. My hope is that years from now, my students will look back and remember me not just as a teacher, but as someone who believed in them when they needed it most.
