Bio

My name is Shaneka Coleman, and I am currently majoring in Nursing with hopes of becoming a Registered Nurse at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences. This is my first semester here but I previously attended Montgomery County Community College and during my education at Montgomery Community College, I have managed to make the dean’s list and join Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society all while working full time and being a full-time single mother. Ultimately, I want to become a Nurse Practitioner and resume exceptional patient care from my own office. I currently work for Einstein Medical Center as a medical assistant in a multi-specialty suite. I attended Star Career Academy for my medical assistant schooling, and I have been a medical assistant for about eight years now and I love it. I love working in health care and helping and giving back to people has always been my passion which explains my desire to become a nurse. Working as a nurse is an amazing opportunity to help people. Nursing is one of the most rewarding professions, and it allows you to do something that has a real, tangible effect on the world. You have the opportunity to see the direct effects of your work, whether it be in the form of a happy family reunited after a trauma or relief for a patient with chronic pain. Nursing is a profession where you are constantly learning and getting new skills, which is what I love doing. It would never be the same day to day. There is always something new you can learn, and that's what makes it so fulfilling.

Higher education will increase the quality of life for me and my children by giving us the opportunity for better career and networking opportunities as well as a high earning potential. Education is the light that will guide me and my children to the future. It will open our eyes to new possibilities and give us the tools to pursue them. Quality of life is not just a measure of how much money we have or what kind of job we have. It is also a measure of how happy we are. Higher education can help us achieve this by providing us with more opportunities and skills to make our lives better. Higher Education provides improved opportunities and skills. A higher quality of life is associated with higher education. Being a single mother of four and working full time and attending school full time to pursue my dream and passion of becoming a nurse can be very challenging, and with this scholarship, I would be able to move one step closer to doing something that I have always wanted to do. As I mentioned before I have worked in the medical field as a Medical Assistant for the past eight years and love every bit of it so I can imagine what kind of exciting experiences I can experience as a nurse. I would benefit from this scholarship as it will help me to continue my education at the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences and pursue my nursing degree so that I can become the best nurse that I know I can be and more. I believe this scholarship will benefit me because I know that I will be an outstanding student and I will work my hardest to achieve my goal to becoming a nurse because being a nurse is all I ever wanted to be. I know that being a nursing student I will have to be committed and motivated and that is what I am. I am also very goal oriented and once my mind Is set on what I want to do I have no problem doing whatever it is that I need to do to get there. When I become a nursing student, I assure you that I will attend school with a positive attitude and manage my time and priorities so I can succeed and achieve. To succeed and achieve I will have to first and foremost attend every class on time, complete all my assignments on time, study hard, and get good grades and that is what I plan to continue to do. I have worked hard to get where I am today, and I will work even harder to get where I want to be.
