Human touch is meant to be gentle, and intimate. Whether a person has soft and delicate hands, or calloused and scarred hands, human touch is meant to provide security and safety. The one question people should consider is “how would you handle a freshly grown plant?” You water it, you carefully plant it in healthy soil, you let the sun shine on it just right. You don’t throw it around, or sit it beside a fire, or let any form of aggression come near it. That is how you should take care of another human. Whether they are your age, or a fragile newborn, or a fraled elder, your touch is meant to be gentle. Patients deserve the upmost care and security they need, and sometimes the greatest source of comfort isn’t always a secured bed, or a bandage over their cuts. It’s a hand to hold, a shoulder to cry on, a hug. As an aspiring Anesthesiologist, this is what I want to provide for patients. My fascination with medicine began long before most people took my ambitions seriously. Over time, however, this early curiosity evolved into a genuine commitment to pursuing a career in medicine, driven by both personal inspiration and academic engagement. Although the aspiration to become a nurse or physician may seem like the easy choice, my motivation is deeply rooted in observing the compassion and precision that defines medicine. Supported by my family, academic accomplishments, and leadership experiences, I am dedicated to contributing meaningfully to the advancement of healthcare throughout my career. However, by biggest inspiration for why I want to make a positive impact for the world is my Inay, my great grandmother who has Alzheimer's disease. The impact of this disease has taught me the importance of time and memories. Every minute spent with my Inay is bittersweet, and I am always reminded of all the time she devoted herself to taking care of me when I was a baby. She was tough and strong willed back then, yet she always held me with gentle hands. She would cook my favorite soup for me when I was sick, and she’d give me baths when my parents were at work. Now it’s my turn to return that love to her, to embrace her with warm hugs and hold her weakened hands when she’s tired. I thank God every day for his grace and protection over my Inay, for keeping her strong and healthy, for all the hours I’m blessed to be with her. My Inay is my biggest motivation for why I choose to become a doctor. To not only make her proud, but to take care of many other dementia patients who need it. Knowing that achieving my dream as a doctor so that someone else can be able to live their own dream is my motivation for why I will gladly spend 10 years in med school. Sure, I’ll be 30 years old by the time I finish med school, but I’m going to be 30 years old anyway… So, why not be a doctor? This is my only life, and I want to be able to challenge myself for the rest of my days. I do not want to waste any time at all, and I will always take any opportunity that comes my way. I am doing this for myself, for my future, and for people in need. But most of all, for my dearest Inay.

As the great granddaughter of someone who has dementia, it’s truly heartbreaking. The pain of being forgotten by your own family member is something only few will understand. Even then, it’s hard. My great grandmother, who I call my Inay, is so precious to me. We are a small family from the Philippines, half of us living here in Arizona and the other half of us living in California, and we are all she has. She currently lives in a group home, and we try to come visit her as much as we can. She always gets our faces mixed up— she calls me my mom, she thinks my grandma is her sister, etc. We try to stay positive through it all, but deep down we know we have very little time with her left. Every moment with her is precious. Most times, she’s calm and living quietly, but every now and then she has agitation episodes. During these episodes, she thinks she’s still living in the Philippines, and she always searches for her sister and my great grandfather. Both have passed a long time ago already. Having to bear that news to her every single time is another crack added to our heart, and we can’t imagine how it must feel for her. I like to think that my Ama (my great grandfather) watches over my Inay at night so she feels a little less alone. Maybe that’s why she still feels him with her, or why she thinks that he’s just at work and will be home soon. The impact of Alzheimer’s disease has taught me the importance of time and memories. Every minute spent with my Inay is bittersweet, and I am always reminded of all the time she devoted herself to taking care of me when I was a baby. TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) MOA Scholarship
My name is Scharleez, and I have been a MOA since debut! I have been a K-pop fan since 2019 and heard of their debut through social media posts and I am proud to have known them since the very start! Tomorrow X Together have always stayed true to the very core of their meaning and purpose : being together, even tomorrow. Through their music, they have brought so many people together, and to me that is the most valuable aspect of being a MOA. From personal experience, I met so many wonderful people through Tomorrow X Together, and now I am honored to call most of them my best friends today. Most importantly, I have become so much closer with my mom. She is incredibly precious to me, and we have made so many magical memories together at Tomorrow X Together’s concerts. As someone who has a soft spot for fashion, my bias is Yeonjun. He has become such a big inspiration for me not only with how he dresses, but how he carries himself. Every day I grow a little bit more confident, and I owe it to Yeonjun. How I see it, he is the kind of friend that I want to be. Poised and finesse. I view Jungkook from BTS the same way, my ult bias. It is always so difficult for me to choose a favorite song, because every new album they release, that one becomes my new favorite. But for the longest time, “Farewell, Neverland” will forever have my heart. I am turning 19 next month, and life is getting a little bit harder, a little more “adult-y.” Every now and then, I wish that I stayed a little girl playing with her dolls in her childhood room. During these moments, I play that song. It makes me feel heavy with sadness. I know for certain many other teenagers feel the same dread of entering adulthood. Just last year, I had the privilege to witness my favorite Tomorrow x Together song in concert! Unfortunately, I missed out on their very first tour, but I have seen them for all 3 of their most recent ones! It never gets any less magical. Just for a few hours, it’s like I am living in a different world, surrounded by people who admire the same artists I do. My favorite album concept will always be “minisode 3 : TOMORROW." The reason is simple : The Little Prince. When I found out that Tomorrow x Together was doing a concept inspired by my favorite book ever, I knew it would be extra special to me and the story that they told through this album was so beautiful. I am currently paying for school through working at Valley of the Sun Home Healthcare part-time, support from my mom, and other scholarships! My dream is to become an Anesthesiologist. My fascination with medicine began long before most people took my ambitions seriously. I am dedicated to contributing meaningfully to the advancement of healthcare throughout my career. I know that it takes a lot to be a doctor, especially a surgical one. This scholarship will mean so much to me and my mom, as it will be a big financial help to us for me to get the best education I need. I am doing this for myself, for my future, and for people in need. Tomorrow X Together has taught me many valuable things, and the most important one being this : Never forget your youth and who you are. No matter how life gets, always think back to yourself when you were a kid, because that is who you are doing all this for.

I know that it takes a lot to be a doctor, especially a surgical one. That is exactly why I have chosen to start early in my academics. This summer, I will be starting my CEP nursing program journey at ASU, a fruitful outcome for being proactive in taking those classes a year early. My plan ever since was to always be a step ahead. No, I do not want to rush, but the younger I start, the more time I have to devote myself to becoming a doctor. Success as a doctor requires the ability to make quick, informed decisions and lead effectively. Last semester, I started working as an intake coordinator at Valley of the Sun Home Healthcare. I have developed these skills by collaborating on patient referrals, training new employees, and implementing projects under guidance from supervisors. I managed a project to enhance patient intake efficiency while following protocols to implement a new electronic scheduling system. These experiences have strengthened my ability to manage tasks efficiently and work well with others—skills essential in the medical profession.

With this in mind, I enrolled as an early college student to start my prerequisites early, taking dual and online courses at Rio Salado and Paradise Valley Community College in 2023-2025. And I am proud to say that I have finished my nursing prerequisites last December 2025m just a semester after graduating from High School! While it was hard to balance my high school and college classes at the same time, it was absolutely all worth it, improving. my time management skills. Though I have an option to take a semestral break this Spring 2026, I chose to enroll in some of the recommended courses to give me more leverage in acquiring knowledge and skills related to the Nursing Program.
