Bio

As a driven, high-achieving student with a passion to become a registered nurse in the advancing field of nursing, my desire is to assist my community. There are facilities across the U.S., especially in South Texas, where I live. There is little to no advocacy for majority of minorities, healthcare workers, and patients. As I continue to learn and pursue my career in nursing, I now have an insight into what to expect because of my mother, Toya. Due to lack of child care in our rural area and my mother working two jobs, my brother and I would go with my mother to work at the nursing homes and clinics. I saw my mom and other veteran nurses displaying kindness and compassion to other human beings who were afflicted physically and / or mentally, causing me to see that I want to be a part of helping others. I plan to attend Victoria College immediately after high school to pursue an Associate's degree as a registered nurse. Becoming a nurse is my heart's desire. I feel that nursing is a very rewarding vocation. It would give me the opportunity to manifest the love of God to those in need of help. Nursing care causes my heart to be moved upon with compassion and mercy toward those whose body or mind has been attacked by sickness and disease. The opportunity to help those who need physical, emotional, and spiritual (if desired) support brings joy to my life. Being able to communicate with patients, whether it is verbal or physical, treating each one with respect, dignity, and courtesy in an attentive manner helps in the healing process.

Being a member of a Christian youth group today presents unique challenges stemming from societal pressures and the changing landscape of technology and social media. These challenges can make it difficult for young people, like myself, to maintain their faith while navigating the complexities of modern life, including peer pressure, the allure of worldly distractions, and the constant barrage of information online. Despite these difficulties, my strong faith, christian community support, church group and my focus on spiritual growth helped me overcome these obstacles and thrive as Christian young man. One of the primary challenges I face is the pervasive nature of social media and its influence on peer relationships. The constant comparison of myself to others online can lead to feelings of inadequacy and insecurity, making it difficult to maintain a strong sense of identity and purpose grounded in faith. Furthermore, social media can expose young people to content that contradicts my Christian values, such as materialism, promiscuity, and violence, making it harder to discern between what is truly valuable and what is fleeting. Another significant challenge I faced is the pressure to conform to societal norms and expectations, particularly when they conflict with my Christian beliefs. This can lead to feelings of isolation and rejection from friends and family who may not understand or support my Christian faith. Navigating these conflicts requires courage and the ability to stand firm in one's convictions, which can be challenging, especially when faced with strong social pressure. However, there are also opportunities for growth and support. I became interested in a faith-based Christian youth group that provided a supportive community where young people can connect with others who share their values, beliefs and experiences. I became engaged in spiritual practices like prayer, Bible study, and seeking guidance from mentors can strengthen faith and build resilience in the face of adversity. By embracing the challenges and leveraging the resources available, I developed a strong and unwavering faith that has guided me to share the gospel truth to my peers at school and friends. More than outsiders have been affected but my immediately family. My little brother had expressed to my parents the Godly change that has transformed my life. Now I am seeing him standing along side with me in this journey. Because I'm continuing to transform spiritually, have decided to pursue an associate's degree as a registered nurse. The opportunity to help those who need physical, emotional and spiritual (if desired) support brings joy to my life. Being able to communicate with patients, whether it is verbal or physical, treating each one with respect, dignity, and courtesy in an attentive manner helps in the healing process. I will have a part-time job as I pursue my career which means less money I will have to support myself. This scholarship will enable me to achieve my goal in the medical field a little sooner. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

"The Chosen" has helped me connect with Jesus in a more personal and relatable way, deepening my faith and understanding of the Bible. The series' visual depictions of Jesus and his disciples have made the stories come alive, making them more intimate and impactful. For some, it has led to a renewed sense of purpose and a closer relationship with God. "The Chosen" has impacted me by having a intimate and relatable Jesus. The show's portrayal of Jesus, particularly by Jonathan Roumie, has resonated with me allowing to connect with his love, compassion, and authority in a more tangible way. The visual learning and biblical understanding "The Chosen" has helped me connect the stories in the Gospels to faces and scenes, making the Bible more intimate. Also, "The Chosen" has been a catalyst for personal transformation, leading me to a closer relationship with God and a renewed sense of purpose. Understanding first-century culture the show's attention to historical and cultural context has helped me better understand the world Jesus lived in, adding depth to their understanding of the Bible. Overcoming reluctance and doubt I previously had a lukewarm faith. "The Chosen" has stirred deep change within me, reigniting my passion and faith. "The Chosen" has also had a positive impact my familiy, with some reporting that it has brought us closer to faith and encouraged open conversations about our faith. "The Chosen" has inspired me to re-evaluate my faith and find a renewed sense of purpose and meaning in my life, encouraging me to seek a closer relationship with God. Watching the show as a life-changing experience, leading me to feel closer to God, to make positive changes in my life, and to embrace a more spiritual path. The show has encouraged me to pray more, spend time in the Bible, and attend church, fostering a deeper connection with my faith and spiritual practices. "The Chosen" has provided comfort and support to me facing challenges, offering a reminder of God's unwavering love and presence in my lives. The series portrays Jesus and his disciples in a way that is both inspiring and relatable, showcasing their humanity and making the story of Jesus more approachable and personal. I see the positive impact on my mental and physical health. I have found that replacing secular media with faith-based content like "The Chosen" has had a positive impact on their mental and physical well-being, fostering a sense of peace and tranquility.

I do not generally do a lot of arguing or debating unless it is with my brother, which in that case, I argue a lot. Even then, I do not argue unless I know that I am correct or that it is something that I am really passionate about. One thing that I am passionate about though is the foster care system and what happens to it. The foster care system has been going through a big debate on whether or not it should be completely eliminated and replaced or if it needs a strong reform. The side of the argument that I would like to be on is the side where people are fighting for reform in the system. Foster care is one of the many things that is broken in this world, but that does not mean that it cannot be fixed. I think that the foster care system deserves the reform because of what it has done for so many kids that had to be taken from their families in order to have a safe life. At the same time though, children being taken from their families in order to have a safe life can also cause for the child to have an even more dangerous life. It has be proven many times before that sometimes children in the foster care system gets sent to unsafe homes which puts the children in danger. While the end goal of foster care is reunification between the child and the birth family, premature reunification often leads to a child’s reentry into the foster care system or even death. Furthermore, current law allows uprooting and placing the child with an unemployed relative who has ongoing domestic violence, anger issues, and a substance abuse addiction simply because they’re blood relatives, even if the child has never met that relative. Reform is needed in order to keep children safe. I would like to create a system to give more assistance by opening a house with indwelling parents. Many times, children placed into foster care suffer from mental health issues. Issues from anxiety can manifest themselves in a number of ways. Professional therapy and counseling is essential for the well-being of the child. In addition, other forms of therapy, such as art, music, animal, and play therapy should also be available. Also helping those who age out Each year, around 20,000 foster children age out of the system and attempt to begin life on their own. For most young adults leaving home for the first time, they have someone to rely on when facing challenges, difficulties, and trials. Whether the problems are financial, emotional, school-oriented, or simply a flat tire that needs to be fixed, most young adults can pick up a phone and call an adult who is quick to help. Youth in foster care who age out of the system many times do not have this type of support; no one to call, no one who can come to their aid. Youth who age out of the system face an array of problems and challenges. When possible, community care should be considered. Community leaders foster care is an out-of-home arrangement for foster kids. This allows communities to raise the children together to develop a greater compassion to those less fortunate.

Music played a significant role in my high school years, shaping my emotions, experiences, and overall identity. From the upbeat anthems of freshman year to the introspective sounds of later years, music served as a companion, a soundtrack to my teenage journey, and a powerful tool for self-expression. It helped me navigate challenging moments, celebrate triumphs, and find solace in the ever-evolving landscape of high school. My freshman year was a time of transition and uncertainty, marked by the move to a new school and the inevitable anxieties of adolescence. Music, particularly upbeat and catchy tunes, became the soundtrack to this period, reflecting my initial naivety and and optimism. Sophomore year brought with it a wave of heartbreak, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of the world. My music tastes evolved, reflecting this emotional journey and complexities of teenage relationships and self-discovery. As I progressed through my junior and senior years, my relationship with music deepened. I began to explore more and finding solace in the sound. Music became a way to express my emotions, process my experiences, and connect with others who shared similar sentiments. It allowed me to grow personally; learning patience, compassion, love, confidence, and responsibility. I love performing. Beyond the personal emotional impact, music also played a significant role in my social life and academic endeavors. I was involved in four years of my high school marching band which provided me with opportunities to collaborate with others, develop my leadership skills, and express myself creatively. Conclusion Music was more than just background noise during my high school years; it was a vital part of my identity, a source of comfort, and a powerful tool for self-expression. It helped me navigate the challenges and triumphs of adolescence, and it continues to shape my understanding of the world and my place in it. Listening to music while studying can offer several benefits, including improved focus, reduced stress, enhanced mood, increased motivation, better memory retention, and even improved cognitive performance. Music has affected me more than anything else. My passion for drums and euphonium has taken my life down a path I love dearly. The intelligence I have gained through music has sculpted me mentally and physically into who I am today. This intelligence absorbed through hands on experience, sweat, and passion is unlike any other. This is because it does not come from a book, or a another teacher, but my heart. The “true education” I have found is not one of remembering facts, or getting A’s on my tests, but one that impacts me deeper.

The unity and the diversity of nursing have called out to me as a young child . As a driven, high-achieving student with a passion to become a registered nurse in the advancing field of nursing, my desire is to assist our African-American and Latino-American community. There are facilities across the U.S., especially in South Texas, where i live. There is little to no advocacy for minorities, healthcare workers, and patients. As I continue to learn and pursue my career in nursing, I now have an insight into what to expect because of my mother. These nurses have impacted me to connect with other medical professionals who desire to help heal brokenness. My parents, while working full-time jobs, my mom two jobs, was also foster parents. Growing up with foster siblings was a blessing and challenging. Looking back and seeing the constant community involvement of my family surrounding these children was necessary, but more is needed. I remember as a child, my parents educating my little brother and I that showing the love of God is in action, not only words. Being involved in fostercare planted a seed in me to be more involved with those less fortunate. I plan to attend Victoria College immediately after high school to pursue an associate's degree as a registered nurse, but it will not stop there for me. Advancing to the University of Houston-Victoria there, I will fulfill my career dream of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in clinical research nurse. I will have a part-time job as I pursue my career, which means less money I will have to support myself. This scholarship will enable me to achieve my goal in the medical field a little sooner. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

My school life has been a voyage of improvement and learning both academically and internally. As a child just getting introduced to school, I learned about the fundamentals of writing, math, and reading. These were building blocks that opened my mind and curiosity to a bigger world I was just starting to be introduced to. As I progressed into middle school, it felt like a door of unlimited knowledge had been opened. At this time, my mind was expanding on subjects like health, experimenting through science, and understanding the significance of historical events. Entering high school, I experienced a wave of responsibilities, emotions, and the importance of communication. I started focusing on time management and my future. With me in the marching band, National Honor Society, and having an after-school job, I was forced to mature quicker as a young adult. The importance of a healthy school and work-life balance is a testament to my GPA. I plan to use all I have learned to strive to become a registered nurse so that I may give back to the community, which helped me to grow into the young man I am. I plan to attend Victoria College immediately after high school to pursue an Associate's degree as a registered nurse, but it will not stop there for me. Advancing to the University of Houston-Victoria there, I will fulfill my career dream of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in clinical research nurse. The opportunity to help those who need physical, emotional and spiritual (if desired) support brings joy to my life. Being able to communicate with patients, whether it is verbal or physical, treating each one with respect, dignity, and courtesy in an attentive manner helps in the healing process. A diverse healthcare workforce positively impacts patient care by fostering better communication, cultural sensitivity, increased patient trust, improved access to care, and more equitable health outcomes. As patients can relate to and feel understood by providers who share similar backgrounds or experiences, leading to better adherence to treatment plans and overall improved health outcomes. This is particularly important for marginalized communities with unique healthcare needs. When patients see healthcare providers who reflect their own identity, they are more likely to feel comfortable sharing information, trusting the care they receive, and actively participating in their treatment plan. A diverse team can better understand and address cultural nuances, language barriers, and specific health concerns of patients from different backgrounds, leading to more effective communication and care delivery. So much healing is needed in the world today and I want it to start with me. Thank you for allowing me to share my future plans with you.

Nursing care causes my heart to be moved upon with compassion and mercy toward those whose body or mind has been attacked by sickness and disease.
