My name is Savannah Cash, and I am a 17-year-old senior at a small Christian school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I will be graduating in May of 2026.
Soccer has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started playing at age five, and it has shaped me into the hardworking and determined person I am today. The sport has taught me lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and leadership, and I plan to continue playing at the college level. I also enjoy volleyball, which has given me another outlet to challenge myself while building lasting friendships.
Outside of school and sports, one of my greatest passions is animals. I have always been drawn to caring for them, and that passion has inspired my dream of becoming a veterinarian. I want to dedicate my career to making a difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them.
Being an only child has taught me independence and responsibility, but it has also deepened the value I place on close relationships—with my family, friends, teammates, and community. I know the opportunities I have are a gift, and I want to make the most of them by working hard, staying true to my values, and pursuing a career where I can combine compassion with purpose.

My passion for animals began at a very young age because I grew up surrounded by them. Throughout my childhood, my family had horses, dogs, cats, ducks, and chickens, so caring for animals was simply a part of everyday life. From feeding and grooming them to helping care for them when they were sick or injured, I learned early on that animals require patience, responsibility, and compassion. Being around so many different animals helped me develop a deep appreciation for them and sparked my interest in animal health and welfare.
Of all the animals I grew up with, horses have always held a special place in my heart. I admire their intelligence, strength, and unique personalities. Spending time with horses taught me the importance of trust and consistency, and it inspired me to pursue a career working with them. Over the years, my love for horses has grown into a desire to help care for them professionally.
As a recent high school graduate, I plan to major in Biology as the first step toward becoming an equine veterinarian. Biology is an important field of study because it provides a strong foundation in the sciences, including anatomy, physiology, genetics, and microbiology. These subjects are essential for understanding how animals' bodies function and how to diagnose and treat illnesses. By majoring in Biology, I will gain the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for veterinary school and ultimately achieve my career goals.
I plan to make a positive impact in the animal world by providing compassionate and knowledgeable veterinary care, especially for horses. As an equine veterinarian, I hope to help horses live healthier and more comfortable lives through preventative care, treatment, and education. I also want to help owners better understand their animals' needs so they can provide the best possible care. Educating owners can often prevent health problems before they become serious, which benefits both the animals and the people who care for them.
In addition to my future career, I hope to stay involved with animal rescue and community outreach efforts. Every animal deserves proper care and a chance to live a healthy life, and I would like to use my education and experience to help animals that may not otherwise receive the support they need.
Growing up with horses, dogs, cats, ducks, and chickens taught me valuable lessons about responsibility, hard work, and compassion. Those experiences shaped my love for animals and inspired my career goals. By studying Biology and eventually becoming an equine veterinarian, I hope to turn that lifelong passion into a career that allows me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals every day.

Bill Nye is notably quoted as saying "[s]cience is the key to our future." In my opinion, science and leadership together are what will shape our future. Science and the continuing developments are crucial to help us find cures for diseases, combat environmental concerns, and provide for the best possible life for us, as humans. Leadership is crucial to ensuring that science is not misused or abused.
You could say science is in my blood. My uncle is a world renowned reproductive physiologist. He has always shown a passion for the animals he works with and the technologies he has helped create. Some of these have even been used to help humans and our understanding of the human reproductive process and problems. However, without leadership and guiding the younger scientists and those not involved directly in the science, none of the developments could be safely and ethically applied. Quality leadership is just as important as the brain that goes into the science.
I am planning to major in biology and hope to someday change at least a small corner of the world with leadership and science. I hope to become a veterinarian and focus my practice on equine in a ranching environment. I also harbor an aspiration to someday hold a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. I realize these two goals seem worlds apart and that may be the truth. However, I think I could take a knowledge of politics and law (my mom is a lawyer and I find her job a little depressing so I do not want to practice law) and real world experience as a doctor of veterinary medicine and help shape the world. Even if I never attain my dream of the U.S. Supreme Court, I can help teach future generations of veterinarians and change the world for my patient and their owners. I have been raised with horses and know the impact a good vet has on the life of not only the animal but their owner as well.
Thank you for the opportunity to apply for consideration for this scholarship. It would be very helpful in covering the extreme expense of my education.

My name is Savannah Cash, and I am a 17-year-old student at a small Christian school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Being an only child has given me a close relationship with my mom, who has always been my biggest supporter. My dad struggles with alcoholism, which has created heartache and instability in my life. There were times when I wished for a different story, one where my dad was more present, but those challenges have shaped me into who I am today. Instead of allowing pain to define me, I’ve chosen to find strength, purpose, and hope in the things that bring me joy: my faith, my mom’s love, my animals, and the game of soccer.
Animals have always been my safe place. My mom and I raise many animals including dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, horses, rabbits, and a variety of small animals. Every morning and evening, they depend on me for food, care, and attention. What I’ve realized over the years is that while I may be caring for them, they have also been caring for me. On the hardest days, my animals gave me comfort and reminded me I wasn’t alone. They showed me the healing power of love, and in return, I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to giving that love back. That is why I plan to become a veterinarian. Helping animals is more than a career goal for me. It's a calling born from the bond I share with them and the hope they’ve given me through life’s struggles.
Soccer has been another major influence in my life. I first fell in love with the sport when I was five years old after watching the movie She’s the Man. I begged my mom to let me play, and from the moment I stepped on the field, I knew I had found something special. Soccer quickly became more than just a game. It became a place where I could grow, challenge myself, and discover who I was.
My junior year, I faced one of the hardest challenges of my athletic career when I tore my rectus femoris muscle. Suddenly, the sport that had always been my outlet was taken from me. Sitting on the sidelines while my teammates played was painful, but it taught me lessons I could not have learned any other way. I had to find patience during recovery, strength in cheering others on, and resilience in refusing to give up on the sport I love. That injury reminded me that setbacks don’t define us; our response to them does. When I was finally able to return to the field, I had a deeper appreciation for the game and a stronger determination to push forward in all areas of life. Volleyball and track have also challenged me, but soccer will always be the sport that taught me how to persevere.
My Christian education has grounded me in faith, compassion, and integrity. It has taught me to see every challenge as an opportunity for growth and every gift as a chance to serve others.
My journey has not been easy, but I believe it has prepared me for the path ahead. With this scholarship, I will be one step closer to becoming a veterinarian, turning my love for animals into a lifelong mission of care and healing. Most of all, it will allow me to honor the lessons I’ve learned; that even in the hardest times, strength and purpose can grow.
