Hi! I’m Sasha, a Sociology and Art History major at Union College in New York, with plans to pursue a master’s degree in Special Education—and possibly Social Work. I tutor children with diverse needs, including twice-exceptional students, and I’m passionate about giving them the confidence and self-worth I wish I’d had growing up. As someone with ADHD and twice-exceptional traits myself, I understand what it feels like not to be fully understood. My goal is to show kids that their differences are not flaws but unique strengths to embrace. I’ve tutored since high school, and every summer I work as a camp counselor. I also volunteer at a center for children with special needs, where I see the power of encouragement and inclusion every day. My love of art history and the power of imagery shape my perspective, and I hope to incorporate creative expression into my work to help children explore their identities and emotions. Growing up, I witnessed my mother’s strength as she battled breast cancer and supported a family member with chronic migraines. These experiences taught me profound empathy and a deep commitment to helping others feel understood and supported. Beyond my work, I find inspiration and challenge in rock climbing and skiing—activities that fuel my determination and creativity. My journey is guided by the support I’ve received and the lessons I’ve learned from adversity. I aspire to be a teacher and advocate who empowers every child to see their unique worth and potential.
