Hi! My name is Sasha Mittal. I'm a current senior at Dublin High School and an incoming freshman at the University of Michigan. I'm someone that wants to take their experiences and use them to create valuable changes in the world. I'm currently a part of my school's Engineering and Design Academy, where I explore the different fields of engineering and their applications in the real world. As a research intern at the UCSF department of pathology, I explore how my engineering passions can make a positive impact in the scientific community. I've done research on topics including COVID-19 and BPDCN, and have a first-author publication in the International Journal of Laboratory Hematology. I also recently completed working on a second project where I studied point mutation-specific antibodies in B-cell and T-cell lymphomas and leukemias. This paper was published in the Diagnostics research journal, where I am the second author on the paper! I’m also an officer on my school’s varsity badminton team, where I try to encourage an inclusive team community while leading drills and conditioning. That desire to uplift others is what also compels me to volunteer in my community and co-found two organizations on my high school campus: the Disaster Outreach Program and TEDxDublinHighSchool. Through these clubs, I hope to give back to the school that has given me so much. In my free time, I love playing Just Dance and trying new boba places with my friends!
