WCEJ Thornton Foundation Low-Income Scholarship
In Atlanta, there is alot of crimes and deaths which pushed me to the major I chose to study in which is forensic science. My environment has matured me and made me always aware on activities going around me, always keeping my head on a swivel. I choose the pathway in the forensics science major due to my late father, whom was killed tragically in a homicide which to this day hasn't found a suspect nor verdict. This made me the person who I am seeking to become a detective, so maybe I can bring closure & justice that I've never received to someone else who's in need just like me. Due to finances, my lack of job security, on top of getting prepared for my unborn daughter, this scholarship will take financial worries off of my chest being able to be focused on continuing school, rather than worrying to figure out how I will accomplish all of these task. I am currently without a job due to I'm about to go into labor soon and left campus to per-sue my major via online, which has been very beneficial. I've currently had a scholarship which I believe was provided via fasfa which helped me out my first year of college. Graduating high school, I was a honors student. I also was the first generation to go to college, and the child to beat all odds, so everybody depends on me for success. This is very hard due to the fact that, I am just one human , and not super hero. Everyone is depending on me to be the way out when it shouldn't be that. I feel as if my success should be mine and mine only and others shouldn't latch off what I've earned. It's crazy because generational patterns stay the same... But me I am here to break that pattern, and not be a burden to myself nor society. I have big plans in life and I plan on Succeeding whether it's hard or not. I pray you'll be able grant me with the funds due to this scholarship to continue my passion for college, and my career. I really want this opportunity to be successful in life, becoming the first successful person of my bloodline to graduate college, or having no criminal record, just striving my self for better and greatness. Thank you very much for this opportunity.

My name is Saraiyah Cosby, I live in Atlanta Georgia , in Fulton county. I have 3 siblings on my mother side, and 1 on my deceased dad's side.
I've formally worked at multiple food and beverage industries/companies such as Sixflags Over Georgia, McDonald's, Chipotle, and Popeyes.

For the future I hope to become a Detective or Investigator giving justice to those whove lost family members due to tragedies and gruesome crimes.
