My academic and professional goals have been influenced by my first experience with aviation, at the age of four, which was a flight to Walt Disney World. As we ascended into the air, the entire aircraft could hear me squeal with delight. Ever since that flight, I have been infatuated with aviation. My father passed away from cancer a few months after that vacation, and my desire is to continue his legacy by becoming a fourth-generation pilot within my family. Over the years, I have enjoyed participating in Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles’ events and EAA Chapter 1083’s ASCEND Camp. My aviation journey led me to the AIM HIGH Flight Academy sponsored by the United States Air Force where the goal was to Inform, Influence, and Inspire. This rigorous three-week once in a lifetime opportunity in Pensacola, Florida cemented my future career plans to become an aviator. Upon returning to North Carolina (NC), I have continued my training in order to receive my private pilot’s license in 2023. My pursuit of excellence is exhibited in my arduous work ethic as a well-rounded, self-motivated honor student with a GPA of 4.66. In addition to school and aviation, I have participated in various initiatives with a total of 250 service hours to positively impact my community, Randolph County, NC. Two examples are Student Leadership Information For Tomorrow (LIFT) and Impact Now programs. Student LIFT provides twenty-six Randolph County students the opportunity to gain leadership skills and become more engaged in our community. As part of this nine-month extensive program, each student plans and executes a service project. At the project's end, I was blessed to donate 11,388 craft/school supplies to Hospice of Randolph and Communities in Schools. Additionally, I was one of sixteen students chosen for Impact Now, a program designed to tackle social challenges. The issues analyzed were food insecurity, community communication, school attendance, and mental health awareness. Upon completion, the City of Asheboro will be implementing the winning proposal to make Randolph County a better place to live and work. From a long-term goal perspective, after receiving Liberty University's Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics with a Concentration in Global Studies and a Minor in Business, along with a commercial pilot certificate, my objective is to transport relief supplies and personnel to victims of natural disasters, disease, and poverty. In closing, I would consider it an honor to be employed by a ministry-based organization executing a mission greater than myself, and I truly appreciate being considered for this transformative award!

As we ascended into the air, the entire aircraft could hear me squeal with delight. Ever since that flight, I have been infatuated with aviation. When I was young, this love of aviation extended to exploring aviation’s history including the pioneers of flight. Over the years, I have enjoyed participating in EAA’s Young Eagles events and EAA Chapter 1083’s ASCEND (Aviation Summer Camp Exploring New Dimensions) Camp. My aviation journey led me to the AIM HIGH Flight Academy sponsored by the United States Air Force where the goal was to "Inform, Influence, Inspire." This rigorous three-week once in a lifetime opportunity cemented my future career plans to become a missionary pilot. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions in Pensacola, Florida, I was unable to solo at the conclusion of the flight academy. Upon return to North Carolina, I have continued my training with UP (Unlimited Possibilities) Aviation based in Asheboro, North Carolina and to date, 25 flight training hours have been logged. I am excited to announce that I am scheduled to solo on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, and I plan to continue training to receive my private pilot’s license. Not only is becoming a fourth-generation pilot a contributing factor in ascertaining my goal but also being the first female pilot in my family is important to me. With the present-day society, I find it astonishing that only 5.3% of aircraft pilots and flight engineers are women. It is crucial to reach females at an early age for them to realize careers in predominately male occupations are within their reach. This outreach can be executed in various mediums. As a Young Eagles Member, I have encouraged middle school girls to join me at events and have begun mentoring relationships. Additionally, as a recent graduate of the AIM HIGH Flight Academy, I am featured in a magazine article and three marketing videos, which were published on various media platforms. These productions were executed to encourage diversity in the aviation field. In the future, I plan to continue mentoring relationships, and I would be delighted to give back to EAA by being a Young Eagles pilot. Being part of another female’s introduction to the aviation world and inspiring them to become a pilot would be monumental.
